I know!
Books are one of the best things mankind has ever invented. And I have eightish weeks of nothing but reading (combined with other activities) and hopefully work.

Unless you're talking about non-fiction.
Non-fiction has been made superfluous by wikipedia, see.

What if she wants to visit you Phase?
I never really got interested in books, I prefer visual mediums rather than one where I have to do most the work, guess it's just laziness.

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
Damn being burnt for being a heretic...again.
ah well, Use some books to get the fire going.
There's only actually one book I enjoyed reading, The Hobbit.
EDIT: I think art and pictures are more important than books.

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
Ha funny thing, I don't really care for either but why you're at it, torch that bloody urinal.
I could probably live in a barbaric world, I'm big and strong.
EDIT: Curly, I was joking about burning the books but the thing about hobbit's true, it's the only book that's really entertained me.

Oregano turned me into a toad! ...I got better.
NooooooOOoooo!!! *slow motion dive at Wadledo*
The Mona Lisa is beautiful! If a little cracked these days. Although I must say I'm partial to anything drawn, painted or scupted by Leonardo Da Vinci.
Yes. We have the best English teachers, they made a stall of second hand books and sold all hardbacks for £2 and all softbacks for a pound. Sadly most of the best stuff had gone by the time I packed up my stall. One of them appeared on Balderdash and Piffle (that OED programme) bemoaning the overuse of nice.

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
Eat lead Spiceboy. Ho can you like The Hobbit and then say you like nothing else?
Not even Pratchett?
Or Bronte?
Or George R R Martin? (speaking of which: book five is out this autumn!)
Or Jules Verne?
Or anyone?????
THat's why I think I'm going to faint.
^: Lucky. Then again, I'm skint so I'd just be oggling and reading twenty pages a minute while frantically trying to pick the two books I could afford.
It's a pity your stalll folded late. COuld have gotten awesome sauce stuff.
Hey, your college finished for the year yet?
Mine did.
TODAY!!
Further edit: The museum near my college has ten original drawings by Da Vinci on exhibit this month. Going to see it hopefully.Last edited by CurlyKitGirl; 2008-07-03 at 03:57 PM.

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
I might like Pratchett, but I've had the chance to read any of his work, I would of if it was in the school library but they never had anything good College will probably have Pratchett.
I've read a Jules Verne story/book before but I can't remember when, it was twenty thousand leagues under the sea, but I got kind of bored. Never read any aSoFaI.
I need something to inspire me to read though because I've been put off reading through bad books and stories in school. blame the system people.
EDIT:I don't really like Neil Gaiman to be honest, just don't know what it is.
I want to read my brother's Conan collection but he won't let me near it.

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
Nah, got another day, although we get free breakfast, so it's good. Also: might win a prize (maybe) after being in the school for six years *crosses fingers*. I'm one of three people in the year not to have anything. This includes the people who joined this year.
Oooh. Da Vinci... O.O The last time I got to see a good amount of his work was in the middle of France, where he lived for a bit or something. They had mugs with his backwards writing on it. Awesomecool.Last edited by Dr. Bath; 2008-07-03 at 04:06 PM.

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
What anything?
Oh, you mean Full Colours and stuff? I got that.
@Oregano: Read Pratchett, the most holy of holies. And ASoIaF. I can't put it down. David Edding's is OK for light introductory fantasy; but by Io I implore you to read Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett. *begs*

My school finishes on the 18th, ah well. Most lessons have been cancelled anyway due to various school trips to Europe (France one week, Germany the next) and music festivals which have stolen away 3/4 of the Sixth Form. Yay!

I will Curly, if only for you. please put out the fire though, it burns. Hopefully I'll be able to read Pratchett in college.
Edding's is apparently rubbish. That's what I got told off some of my friends and my brother.

Which is why I love college so much. We could have finished one month earlier if not for the college's one month AS to A Level crossover thing.

About that thing with Oregano :
Proof again that Tolkien simply wrote the best books.
And then comes Pratchett.

Here's a 2D version to slake your thirst for FPS puzzlers in the meantime (if you haven't already played it)
It sadly lacks GLaDOS, but what can you do?

I'm currently playing a free demo until she wakes up.
And GLADOS is my computer's name!
