    I'm resposting this.

Kyou II: Tale of the Ninja

This is not a paranoia game.

    Roles

There will be four different "teams" in this game, The Black Ninjas, The Blue Ninjas, The Samurai and the Hunters.
Both the Ninja Teams and the Samurais will have a leader that will select the members of his team before the game begin.

    Ninja (Werewolf's)
    Spoiler
    Show
Both ninja teams will win once their team are equal or ournumbering the remaning villagers and the other ninja team together.
All Ninja in the same team begins the game knowing each other.
Every player that is selected to be a ninja by one of the leaders will be able to select one of these roles:

Walker of the Secret Ways: Every night the ninja can select one player, if that player is lynched the following day you can scry one player. Scries as Ninja (werewolf).

Mistblade Shinobi: Every night the ninja can select one player, if that player is lynched the following day you remove that player from the game for two days (two day phases and two night phases).
During this time the player can not be killed in any way but can't use any actions or vote. Talking to other player in the game thread or PM is strictly forbidden if you are under the effect of this. You can only use this ability when there is currently is no player you have removed from the game. Scries as Ninja (werewolf).

Ninja of the Deep Hours: Every night the ninja can select a player. If that player is lynched the following day you will be able to protect one player from a night kill during the next night.

    Black Ninja Team
    Spoiler
    Show
This team can kill one player together every even night (night 2, night 4...). If all the players in the other team should die, the Black Team can kill a player every night instead.

Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni: As the leader of the black team Ink-Eyes will select all the player for the Black Ninja Team at the beginning of the game.
In addition Ink-Eyes can every night select a player. If that player is lynched the following day Ink-Eyes will be able to attempt to recruit one villager.
If Ink-Eyes succesfully recruits a player she can't use her ability for one night. Players recruited by this ability do not gain any special abilities. Scries as Ninja (werewolf).

    Other Ninjas Selected by Ink-Eyes

    Blue Ninja Team
    Spoiler
    Show
This team can kill a player together every odd night (night 1, night 3...). If all the players in the other team should die, the Blue Team can kill a player every night instead.

Higure, The Still Wind: As the leader of the blue team Higure will select all the player for the Blue Ninja Team at the beginning of the game.
In addition Higure can every night select a player. If that player is lynched the following day Higure will be able to attempt to recruit one villager. Players recruited by this ability do not gain any special abilities. Scries as Ninja (werewolf).

    Other Ninjas selected by Higure

    Other Ninja Roles:

    Spoiler
    Show
Takashi (marker): Takashi starts the game not knowing anyones role but share victory condition with both the ninja teams and count as an ninja.
In addition Takashi can mark a player with the mark of the hunter every even night (night 2, night 4, night 6...). Players with the mark of the hunter can be killed by Kuori. If Daki, the other marker should be killed Takashi can mark a player every night. Scries as Marker.

Converted: Villagers that have been recruited by Ink-Eyes or Higure. They don't have any special abilities but are still on the ninjas side. Scries as Ninja (werewolf)

    Samurai's (Masons and Villagers)
    Spoiler
    Show
They Samurais win once all the ninjas are dead or defeated.
All Samurai's begins the game knowing each other.

Kentaro, the Smiling Cat: As the leader of the Samurai's Kentaro will select all the samurais at the beginning of the game.
In addition every night Kentaro can select one player. If the player he selected was the target of a night kill that night he can select two other players. For the next day and night phase all night actions and votes cast on one of the players will instead target the other player and the opposite of course. Scries as Samurai (mason).

Samurai of the Pale Curtain: Every night the Samurai of the Pale Curtain can select two players.
If the first player selected becomes the target of an night kill Samurai of the Pale Curtain will learn the role of the second player that he/she selected. Scries as Samurai (mason).

Indebted Samurai: Every night the Indebted Samurai can select two players.
If the first player was the target of an night kill the Indebted Samurai will protected the second player he selected from night kills during that night. (the two selected players can be the same player). Scries as Samurai (mason).

Samurai Enforcer: Every Night the Samurai Enforcer can select two players.
If the first selected player was the target of an night kill the second player Samurai Enforcer selected will be protected from lynching the following day. Even if the this ability prevented an lynch it do not prevent the ninjas abilities. Scries as Samurai (mason).

    Other Samurai roles

    Spoiler
    Show
Villager: Don't know anyone or have any special power but can be possessed by certain kami if they act in special ways. Scries as Villager.

Daki (marker): Starts the game not knowing anyone but share victory condition with the Samurais. In addition Daki can every odd night (night 1, night 3, night 5...) mark a player with the mark of the hunter. Marked players can be killed by Kuori. If Takashi, the other marker should be killed Daki can mark a player every night. Scries as Marker.

    The Hunters (Kuori & Co)
    Spoiler
    Show
The hunters wins when both markers and everyone they have marked are dead. Atleast one of them must be alive when their vicroty condition is achived.

Ethernal Hunter: A cultist completly devouted to Kuori's hunt even if it means they could be possible targets for it. If Kuori would die in any way one randomly selected Ethernal Hunter will be possed by him and gain all his abilities. If a Ethernal hunter would be marked he can be killed but Kuori would not need to kill him to complete his victory condition. Scries as Hunter.

Kuori, The Hunter: Back once again after his last hunt on Kyou. This time he have brought along his entire cult of fanatics ready to serve him.
Every night Kuori can select a player, if that player is marked or is a marker he/she dies, otherwise nothing happends. Scries as Hunter.

    Kami
    Spoiler
    Show
As the last game there will be a lot of Kami that can possess villagers and grant them special powers. This time the abilities might be a bit more powerful then the last game and even dead players can become possessed by the kami. Special achivments will in many cases reward the player with a kami. But beware, all the Kami are not on the villagers side and may cuase harm instead.

    Looking for feedback on balance...

Umm... I can see a problem with this whole select what type of samuri you want to be. Everyone will just select the indebted samuri, and target themselves. The masons will all be unkillable, and if they ever out number both ninja groups its game over.

Also the hunters are doomed if Kuori dies...

Oh, I was going to change that, The roles will not be selected instead they will be given out at random. The leaders of the samurai and the ninja teams will still select the members but not what roles they are going to be.
And the ninjas are masons they can't "outnumber" the wolfs.

Edit: If Kuori would die another randomly selected player in the hunter team will simply take his role.

    .

    Is that correct?
You should post that a hunter needs to be alive for the hunters to win.
Did you mean to give the samurais semi investigation immunity. (The devil isn't told what samurai he is.)
    Can power roles bev recruited?

Power roles can't be recruited (unless they are villagers that have been possessed by a kami).
Yes, I did mean to give the samurais a sami-scry immunity just like I did with the ninjas.
I will add that to the rules.

Sorry, I confused Telepathy with Telekinesis again.

We'd all have to telekinetically move our fingers to point!

(I still vote in favor of telepathy, though).

You randomize it, either using a Dice Roller or a hat with names. Usually, picking is frowned upon.

COMPLETELY randomized is the only fair thing.
Unless, of course, you have a special role for a player.
    Example:
In Hogwart's Havok The Death Eaters (wolves) and the Teachers (masons) were both alpha groups.
Supagoof was chosen by both teams. Thus, he was given the role of Severus Snape, a double agent similar to that in Spytrap.
Extenuating circumstances are the ONLY time that this randomizing should be circumvented.

You want a first time player to have the exact same chance as an high profile player of getting... say... the Seer.

Otherwise, all of the big name players would never survive the game. They'd all immediately be lynched on the basis that they're veterans, and therefore probably got a role.
Bad idea, to say the least.

You want a first time player to have the exact same chance as an high profile player of getting... say... the Seer.

    Just use the hat.

Even though I use a big clock unless one of my co-narrators object.

I use the hat. I'm more old-fashioned like that.

Back in my day, we didn't have all your Online Dice Rollers and your Broadband, and your YouTube, and your lolcats, and we could only connect via Dial-up... *waves walking stick*

The weirdest part is that this could actually be something to tell my grandchildren.

I've been considering losing the spreadsheet and going back to pen and paper tracking, like I used to do.
I think I was better at it that way...

EDIT: And we passed our Health Inspection today! Order product tomorrow, right before the furniture shows up. Start assembling barstools and tables. Arrange the couches in the side room. Stock the bar and shipments on Thursday and Friday. Shift meeting Friday night with the staff.
Take Saturday and Sunday off because I NEED IT!...

    Open Monday! :bigexcited:

Right now I'm going to get the first full night's sleep that I've had in a month... I've already spent too much time here tonight.
