Re: Shipping itP II: Scourge of the Seven Seas
[deranged voice]Hehe, you know what's funny? I spent over half an hour writing a fairly good (adjust description depending on how good you think I am at this sort of thing) fic set in Mad Season's world to the tune of I'm Going Slightly Mad. I was all ready to submit it and then . . .
It got et.
And I had two POVs; I think I had Renfield's ravings down quite well, and I was even referencing past events/suggestions from the other parts.
And it got et.
Curly is not happy.[/deranged voice]
It might have even served for inspiration to the emminent Helgraf. But nooooo, insolent internets.

Re: Shipping itP II: Scourge of the Seven Seas
Considering I work somewhere around fourty-five to sixty hours a week and also need to up-keep an actual ::gasp:: life, it comes down to either choosing to write ships or the index.
But, hell. Today is my day off.
Instead of finishing a ship I told someone I'd do a while ago, I'll do the fricken' index.

Re: Shipping itP II: Scourge of the Seven Seas
Let's hope this time it'll stick.
Set in Helgraf's Mad Season world; and becaus italics are song lyrics Renfields' POV is bold. Apologies if this one sucks, but my good one got et by th'internets.
Curly/Helgraf (Renfield)
I'm Going Slightly Mad
Spoiler
Curly lounged in her office leafing over the numerous case files she was given on the first day she arrived here. All to do with the mystery that was Renfield. And each and every one of them contradicted what she had experienced first hand.
If anything, Renfield was a gentleman: polite, attentive, erudite and gentle.
She wondered half heartedly if maybe there'd been a mix - up in files. She knew that Renfield wouldn't hurt anyone other than himself. She'd seen proof of that herself. Thick, hideous scars creeping up and down his arms like some insidous disease.
It was spring outside. The quadrangle spattered with innumerable daffodils prancing around as if they were a gift from God. She hated spring.
When the outside temperature rises
And the meaning is oh so clear
One thousand and one yellow daffodils
Begin to dance in front of you - oh dear
Are they trying to tell you something?
You're missing that one final screw
You're simply not in the pink my dear
To be honest you haven't got a clue
Curly walked to her other office - where she saw Renfield most days - in a rather jaunty fashion. Perhaps if she could gather enough proof they could see about reallocating his room. Those rooms were normally reserved for those dangerous to others. He wasn't. She couldn't help but think that maybe Renfield was better now. After all, they had such lovely talks about nearly every subject under the sun, so it seemed to her. He'd never once seemed anything other than sane.
I'm going slightly mad
I'm going slightly mad
It finally happened - happened
It finally happened - ooh oh
It finally happened - I'm slightly mad
Oh dear!
Renfield crouched in the centre of his cell mumbling incoherent hymns that echoed and reechoed around his mind fragmenting whatever tune that was originally present in his once - cultured mind. It was nearly time for his appointment with her, Dr. Curly. She could be sculpted like malleable clay in his hands to whatever he wished. But at the same time, her mind was forming into a delicate ornament. And when it was time, yes, when it was time, oh time, trapping and tripping ever forwards defiant of all creatures and their wishes, when it was time, he would break her little mind. And it would shatter and lie there on the floor of her subconcious and sparkled fragmentedly, chaotically in the light of all things. It would be beautiful.
I'm driving only three wheels these days
But my dear how about you? [/I]
Curly sat officiously in her chair, almost regally she thought happily to herself. She reached into her voluminous bag ("All the better to carry the world then!" she had said during her first session with Renfield) and slipped out two teacups, a thermos of tea and naturally, some biscuits. Renfield liked tea and biscuits during their afternoon sessions. She smiled as she envisaged his elegant smile. He would enjoy what she'd bought today. As Renfield was escorted into the room she waved an arrogant hand in dismissal towards the warden and guard who had walked him in.
Smiling happily at her patient she asked him how his day was. As she took notes on what he said she thought again about how he didn't really belong here. She would help him escape somehow.
I'm going slightly mad
I'm going slightly mad
It finally happened
It finally happened oh yes
It finally happened
I'm slightly mad!
Just very slightly mad!

Re: Shipping itP II: Scourge of the Seven Seas
You know, I don't think I've been in a songfic. I also think I'm the first girl to respond to this... *hops up and down* Oh, oh! Use me, do! I'm ever so cute and equally open to abuse!
I figure if I beg enough, someone will do more than pay lip service to the idea. Except for RHL. She's been plenty awesome already.

Also, Curly, now that I'm doing the index...
Whatever happened to the RHL/Joker fic you promised me so long ago? =P

Re: Shipping itP II: Scourge of the Seven Seas
Merci beaucoup. I was worried I hadn't caught yours and Helgrafs' tone in it. And now; another fic. Bleg, why don't internet lyric sites use punctuation?! Can't hurt can it? But no, it's like it's physically impossible for them.
Jibar/Phoe
You Don't Fool Me:
Spoiler
She was at it again. Phoe came sliding her way in and out of so many men's lives. A trainer. Not that kind, a trainer of men. Breaking them to fit her styles, her rules; her pets. But naturally, he thought cynically, he hadn't realised until he was caught too deep. Still, he was stronger than her, she'd never broken him to her halter. His mama'd always warned him about the twisted people who wanted to control others. Break them into a monotony with no true life.
You don't fool me - those pretty eyes
That sexy smile - you don't fool me
You don't rule me - you're no surprise
You're telling lies - you don't fool me
Mmm, mama said be careful of that girl
Mama said you know that she's no good
Mama said be cool, don't you be no fool
Most weeks she'd "Be busy tomorrow; important work to be done, you know how it is love." and off she'd go to another 'tryst'. But that didn't mean it still hurt. Just slightly. Still, he'd lasted longer with her than any of her other pets, he knew her ways. He could even pick out which one of her toys she'd play with next. A song, a favourite of his hummed it's way through his mind.
You don't fool me, and break you
You don't rule me, you don't fool me
You don't fool me, she'll take you
You don't fool me, and break you
Sooner or later youll be playing by her rules
Oh, if only he could be bothered to tell Phoe's next victim what he'd be put through. But he still wanted her, wanted to be loved. And yet . . . he refused to be tamed on a whim. Especially when he'd met The Other Ones; so so, so, grey and unoriginal. A sheep. He didn't want to love her any more.
Baby you don't fool me, yeah
You don't fool me, you don't have to say don't mind
You don't have to teach me things I know
Sooner or later youll be playing by her rules
Oh, (fool you) oh, (rule you) she'll take you (take you)
And break you (break you)
Yeah
He actually pitied the poor sap she'd dumped him for. He'd be broken and trained soon enough. Somewhere deep down, where he wasn't hurting he was glad he was free.

Re: Shipping itP II: Scourge of the Seven Seas
Okay, first twenty five pages (1/2) of the first thread has been done.
The second half will come on my next day off, which is this Friday.
Um. Yay.
