"Sorry about that, Tempest. We've been under attack by that shapeshifter LaRoth, and by a guy named Alek who can control people's minds. So we're not inclined to let strangers in. But I don't know what Nomlas was on about. I guess he thinks Darkcomet and KR-15 are still here."

George takes the book into the great room, sits down by the fireplace (in the chair Tessa always used to occupy when she was reading), and starts reading the book. His aching brain can't make much sense of it though.

Okay. Do you know if LaRoth has any weaknesses at all? She seems to be immune to my lightning and ice attacks, so I can't really do anything to stop her without scrolls.

"I think George hurt her with a Disintegrate spell when they last fought," Turtle says. She finds a few of the scrolls that Tempest has requested and hands them over. "So far, we've been fighting a defensive war. DNA scans on everyone, throughout the day, to make sure they aren't an imposter. And I'm wearing this." She holds up her hand to show a bracelet. "I can fight the mind control somewhat. If I think I'm losing, I'll activate this, and it will sedate me and teleport me into a holding cell. So you don't have to worry about me going nuts and attacking everyone again. I won't let it happen."

That's a good idea. Thanks for the scrolls and the anti-LaRoth advice. I sometimes wear a Protection from Evil bracelet if I think someone will try using mind-controlling spells on me.

"Did you know that Nomlas is working with LaRoth? You should evict him from your base. It can't be safe having him there, especially given HALO's relative vulnerability to attack."

I know right? I mean, if we had only told HALO to kick Nomlas and Jordan the &#%$ out of their base, so much would have been prevented.


Kris comes in from the med bay. He's better, but still pale from the level draining.

Kris, are you okay? You loook awful. Also, who keeps shouting this stuff? I don't even know who Jordan is.

Turtle looks at Tempest rather dumbfounded at the question. "...You're at the bottom of the sea. Any little accident in the life support, and you'll be crushed by the pressure before you could even have time to drown.

Also, I think the voices came from the other side of the fourth wall and can therefore be ignored."

I see what you mean. I'll talk to Inigo and a lizardfolk who I rescued a while back about countering that flaw. I'll try to ignore those voices. Tempest starts examining the nearest wall for holes.

(He isn't aware that he only exists as a character in a freeform RPG, so 4th wall references confuse him.)

I'm fine thanks, and I can fix that. Tempest tries using Greater Restoration on Kris. If it works, it should remove all lost levels, including perminant ones as long as they were lost less then 15 weeks ago.What were you doing there?

"I don't know for sure, but Nomlas had an accomplice with him the night he took the Spork. You can see if he's been hanging around HALO." ((It's Jordan, and yes he has.))

Kris is subjected to an attempted glomping by Turtle. "Kris! You're up! You're okay! I'm so glad to see you!"

The spell fails.
Yeah, proper healing magic doesn't work anymore. I think it's a side affect of being in the water so long, I nearly became one of the Damned Souls. I was there to stop the Pit Lord, that one one, Semiazas. When we tried to destroy his soul it turned into a crystal humanoid and tried to return to it's owner.

Kris is crushed by the glomping. Barbarian strength and half-emaciated patients don't go so well together. Who knew?

Turtle releases Kris. "Sorry..."

"If there's anything else I can do to help, just let me know," Turtle says. "And again, I'm so sorry about attacking you. I'll try very hard to keep it from happening again."

(Deadtime here. Kris, if information on how to cure your character's level loss can be found in any books, please could you PM the solution to me? Nicholas reads about this sort of thing a lot when he isn't on the internet or developing spells with names like "Suffer Like G Did" or "Do a Barrel Roll". Goodbye.)

"So... that's what we're up against. But things've been awfully quiet lately, and Melody and Czernov and George all seem to have recovered ((ooc: *snicker*)) so maybe they've found someone else to torment?"

Wenomir sits in his room. The alcohol does not seem to have any affect on him, so he wanders around in search of something to eat.
