Morph, you've always been that other person. In that other place. At that other time. With that other thing. For that other reason. In that other way.

I guess I have become that person. You know, the one who says stuff.
Regardless, I don't think there is anything in this latest chapter worth the use of a spoiler box.Homebrew:The Reaper-The Wild MageAvatar by Zarah

SpoilerI thought that was the case ever since we figured out Ichigo's and Uryuu's dads know each other. As I imagine others did.

So wait. Ichigo is a Shinigami (Substitute) but also just a normal human-quincy hybrid.
What.

Re: Bleach VI: We Want Our Baby Bach Ribs (Aizen pull)
- Ichigo gets his Shinigami side from his father
- Ichigo gets his Quincy side from his mother. This fact was alluded to for a very long time for example Ichigo and Uryu Ishida dad's know each other. Aizen was about to say he is special not because he is a son of a captain but because he is also a son of a _____, Aizen never finishes for Ichigo's dad shows up. Bach pretty much says the same thing but makes it more obvious...etc
- Ichigo gets his Vaizard powers due to his near hollowification in the pit
- It is alluded that Ichigo gets his fullbringer powers due to his mother being attacked by a hollow (Xcution explains the origin of fullbrings to Ichigo so we assume Ichigo is a normal case). This makes likely sense that Ichigo's mother was attacked by a hollow for if she is a Quincy she could have been injured while fighting one, and/or hollows would be attracted to a Quincy due to their spirit manipulative abilites.
So yes Ichigo is a super hybrid. The hybrids parts fit nicely together for really he is just a Quincy/Shinigami hybrid with some luck thrown in, yet it feels badly executed. The reason why it feels badly executed is that we see no other hybrids in this series besides Kugo and the Vaizard. Furthermore these hybrids are not usually foreshadowed (with the exception of the hollow ichigo), you just enter the arc see these characters and then a few months later Ichigo has one of these powers added to his arsenal. So he is the only real hybrid, no foreshadowing, and so far he has gained ever type of power shown in the series.
Being a blue mage/kirby/power copying is not bad storytelling but when it is done in a fashion such as bleach it is extremely bad storytelling.Stupendous Man drawn by Linklele

Re: Bleach VI: We Want Our Baby Bach Ribs (Aizen pull)
Actually... I like that Ichigo is a unique and beautiful snowflake.
No really. Think of all the shows/movies/books/whatever you see/read/whatever and it just so happens that the main character, some average Joe, turns out to be some really important person with a super cool but unknown (at least to them) history.
You may think, "What is this bullexcrement, he's just an average Joe! No need to make him awesome because he's the main character." So right, the main character turns out to be someone incredibly important.
But wait! I'm of the opinion that the person does not become awesome because they're the main character, but rather they're the main character because they come someone awesome.
So right, with all these wild factions going on (Shinigami, Quincy, Fullbringers, Vizard), it makes sense that there could be a mixture of them. And that mixture happens to be Ichigo and so he's the star of the series. He may not be the most likable character, but hey.

Re: Bleach VI: We Want Our Baby Bach Ribs (Aizen pull)
well, everything with eyes saw that coming.
the problem this creates is that a quincy strong enough to fight a hollow that took down ishin (a captain) was somehow killed by king fisher, who lost horribly to ishin even after a significant power upgrade.a tiny space dedicated to a beloved grandpa now passed. may every lunch be peanut butter-banana sandwiches.
i has 2/4 an internets.

Re: Bleach VI: We Want Our Baby Bach Ribs (Aizen pull)
It's likely that Mama Ichigo likely either lost her powers or simply hadn't used them in so long a time that she was essentially powerless when Grand Fisher attacked. Don't Quincy rely on actual weapons through which to focus their abilities?
Or Kubo just doesn't give a f***.

Re: Bleach VI: We Want Our Baby Bach Ribs (Aizen pull)
I don't see the problem here. Granted, I'm one of those disreputable anime-watchers, so maybe I missed something, but judging from your conversation so far it looks like the story is actually vaguely coherent.
Step 0: Isshun is a big captain, Masaki is a Quincy
Step 1: Isshun and Masaki meet and hit it off. Too well. We're talking Romeo and Juliet here, star-crossed lovers aligned to factions that just can't see eye-to-eye.
Step 2: In comes everyone's favorite Hat-and-Clogs, Urahara. Urahara creates a Stealth Gigai to allow Isshun to have this little fling. Of course, as Rukia would later discover, Stealth Gigai don't just mask your power, it quenches it.
Step 3: Isshun continues to use the Stealth Gigai, but grows progressively weaker. Ultimately forced to choose between his heart and his sword, he hangs up the sword and allows the Stealth Gigai to seal him completely.
Step 4: Ichigo and the twins are born.
Step 5: Grand Fisher uses Ichigo to force the tasty Masaki into a compromising position, killing her. Isshun, now entrapped in the Stealth Gigai, is powerless to do anything.
Step 6: Some bespectacled twerp manipulates a large hollow into going after the Kurosaki family. He also arranges for an emotionally broken young Soul Reaper riddled with survivor's guilt tied to someone closely resembling Ichigo to be patrolling the area at this exact time. Rukia does something emotional and stupid, Ichigo tops it with ritual suicide. Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper. (Just as planned.)
Step 7: With his son suddenly involved in the world he'd left behind, Isshun attempts to recover his power. Urahara helps, because Urahara likes to help.
Step 8: Isshun regains enough power to kill Grand Fisher, finally avenging his wife.
Do I have my facts wrong? Or does that not make sense?Last edited by Calemyr; 2013-02-27 at 03:26 PM.

Re: Bleach VI: We Want Our Baby Bach Ribs (Aizen pull)
Kubo's ToC comment for this issue:
"Manshon no baiku (something I can't make out)ba wo keiyaku****ara [choudo yonban ga akima****a] to iwareta."
'Mansion' in Japan means large apartment. Baiku can be either bicycle or motorcycle. The kanji for ba used here should be the one for place/location. When he made a contract with the apartment building's bike (something), he was told that #4 is vacant.
Perhaps he was signing up for a parking spot for his bike.
And of course there is that whole '4 sounds like/is death' superstition...Last edited by Somewhere; 2013-02-27 at 03:40 PM.

Re: Bleach VI: We Want Our Baby Bach Ribs (Aizen pull)
Possibly, but, if that were the case, his powers would have already been restored before the Arrancar arc, meaning that there wasn't anything all that final about it and Operation Stabby Stabby was not the long-shot it was made out to be. They would have already done as much for Isshin first.
I prefer to think that he had developed that technique as a sort of nuclear option, a last-ditch, do-or-everyone-dies trump card that would do worse to him than it would to Ichigo. Ichigo got to return to being a human, to return to the life he knew and the peace and comfort of the everyday. A true Soul Reaper using that move would lose everything - not just their power, but their status, their home, their friends, and be left just another nameless soul lost in bad districts. Seriously. The irredeemable may go to Hell, but Soul Society doesn't seem much better for souls who lack spiritual power.Last edited by Calemyr; 2013-02-27 at 04:07 PM.

Re: Bleach VI: We Want Our Baby Bach Ribs (Aizen pull)
Theory time:
Isshin became powerless due to Final Gentsuga Tenshou. Masaki became powerless due to Letzt Stil. They opted to not regain their powers, because they thought the action was over, and they could focus on growing kids now. (They were wrong.)
Why they opted to use those powers is probably linked to some great threat that existed before Ichigo's birth. Possibly Bach.
I'm still convinved Urahara is somehow behind everything."It's the fate of all things under the sky,
to grow old and wither and die."

Am I the only one somewhat annoyed we didn't learn Kenpachi's zanpakto's name? Like even a little bit. You don't even need to explain it's powers. Just tell us it's name so people can start doing wild guesses about it
