Aww, cupcakes and candles. Glad he's learned to not try to eat the candles though. Took a couple of my friends a few years to give up learning how to do that safely. Unless I'm very much misremembering the ancient days of yore when I was a chillen.

Short version: he had an enormous abscess drained and a little benign tumour removed.
Long version: Ages ago I noticed that he had a lump on his shoulder. Got it checked at the vet, he said it was probably a benign tumour, but keep an eye on it in case anything changes. The other night I noticed that in that same area he suddenly had a HUGE, squishy lump. Made an appointment the very next morning, took him to the vet today. The vet thought the big lump was strange, since playing with it didn't seem to bother Moses, and its proximity to the other lump and the speed with which it grew was worrying. So he kept him in for a few hours to operate. He discovered that the two lumps were actually completely unrelated: the big lump was just an abscess, full of yummy gooeyness, and probably from the fights he keeps getting in; the little lump was, as he expected, a benign tumour, self-contained and no particular worry, but he removed it anyway since he was there. Now he has stitches in, and the abscess was so big and so gooey he has to have a pipe thingy to drain it out for a few days. Also he's gotta have antibiotics - must remember to give him those in the morning!
edit: The surgery was also really expensive so I had to use my mum's debit card and she's gonna kill me, even though I fully intend to pay her back over the next few weeks :/

Bonus points if you're actually a Spike and it's part of an attempt to use psychological warfare against your opponents by getting them to underestimate you or take advantage of their biases.
