Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
So...hi everyone. I'm GrayGriffin, and I'm demisexual, possibly demiromantic, and I think I might be a demigirl as well. (just she/her pronouns, please) I was just...reading some stuff written by trans people, and thinking about my own gender, and then I realized that I felt kind of disconnected from the idea of being a girl. But at the same time, I don't feel disconnected enough to be agender. And I definitely don't associate myself with being male at all.
So yeah. First post in this thread.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
So given that I haven't posted since I joined the thread...
Spoiler: bleh stuffSore throat, coughing a bunch. Bleh.
More relevant to this thread, I've been noticing a bit more that I quite dislike my set of genitals. Yucky fleshy thing, that.
Got through orientation week at college though, looking forward to my first class this coming Monday.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Surprisingly enough the Pride Parade in my country is not yet canceled. Last year they waited the night before to announce that it will not be safe. I kinda expect the same thing to happen tomorrow evening. I will inform you of the cancellation or the carnage as soon as it happens. Yeah, I am not really an optimist right now.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
I just weighed myself for the first time in years, and I'm 11 stone. That's more than I expected, and it's more than I want to be. I should start doing something about this.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
I'm all steamed. I just saw a radio attack on a specific couple for daring to get a marriage in Mississippi. They're going after a trans man and a woman as a "couple of lesbians" "committing fraud" by getting a marriage license.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Nah, even there it's just body fat percentage and relative muscle mass and cardiovascular health that is the real concern. Weight is either a shorthand or red herring.
Flipping out over, say, developing muscle, and thus gaining weight, is just silliness aside from a few professions where weight is an active concern in and of itself, like, uh, fighter pilots.
Whee, pedantry!Last edited by Coidzor; 2014-09-27 at 02:28 PM.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Why would you measure weight by 14 pounds?

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Just how it worked out. Convenience for trade and stuff way back in the day when measurements didn't make sense and people used cubits and spans.
Not really? Kilograms just happen to be about 2.2 pounds. A kilogram how much a liter of water weighs. (More accurately, it's the mass of a thousand ccs of water at 4°, but that comes out to a kilogram and a liter, so close enough.)Jude P.

Pride Parade, that was surprisingly enough not canceled, starts in an hour. I predict carnage, but I hope I am wrong.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Is the human stone weight 10, 12, or 14 pound? Or 18, there was a weird 18 pound one I think.
While I agree, I assume Heliomance is capable of being upset because that weight on her frame is preventative of her desired form despite all possible cellular compositions.
It's an old measure used for trade as said, with specific weight being related to the good transferred. I believe it averages at 14# as said, and is no more strange than a foot, a furlong, or a buttload.
Be well.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
What I was trying to say, is that if you look at the mirror and don't like what you see, then sure, you should try to change that so that you're comfortable (assuming of course that the person doesn't have a distorted idea of what is a healthy body shape for a human being, but that is another matter). But for example, if a person first likes how they look and then weights themselves and becomes depressed when that number is not what they hoped, what is the point? Personally, I think that if the appearance is important to someone, they should at least judge that based on how they actually look and feel, not on some numbers on a scale.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
I don't dislike how I look yet, but it's evidence that I'm putting on weight and I need to be careful. I've always identified as skinny, and maintained that no matter what I eat. But now, I have an office job which I drive to, and am getting almost no exercise, so I'm putting on weight. It's not that I think I'm fat, it's that it was a notably higher number than I was expecting, and it was a bit of a shock.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Apparently, I can be wrong.
Aside from a small incident, there was no major disturbances. So that would be a very unexpected yay.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Office situation so, not sure but why not:
1. Park a bit further way to get to the lift, stairs, etc.
2. Find ways to clearly burn cals at your desk, rubber bands can be very effective resistance trainers if applied properly
3 Get your walk in during business hours. Take that report up to the office yourself. You get a good walk, and bonus points for being efficient and productive.
4 already be in position to fully utilize the squad of elite war drones you had mailed in here three weeks ago, to ready for your signal.

Re: LGBTAI+ #52: Aces High
Ok, right, I'm gonna be serious now. (*Sets weird_humor to FALSE*)
I am in need of advice on how to come out to younger siblings. This is something that I want to do quite badly, as it's obviously an important part of my identity and I feel that ultimately it would be destructive to hide it from them. However, I can think of a hundred and one ways it could go wrong, some of them terrifyingly plausible, so...
I guess what I'm looking for is experience, advice and anecdotes.Knitting my way through life, one purl of wisdom at a time.
