    Fera, the Land of Discovery
Notable actions of the years 466-470 of the Common Calendar

-Finalise the Feran First Impression Treatise, a complete guide to the Ferans' take on Raaneki Diplomacy 「Project 2/2」「Curiosity」
-With the recent move of a small portion of Ferans to settle, numerous Kvista are sent out to study foreigners' castles and walled towns in an effort to better protect these settlers should Fera be invaded 「Curiosity」
-Feran merchants open a trading post in the Niskovian Steppe 「47A」 of the Sovereign Principality of Niskovia. They are so successful, a large number of yaks and yak goods have been procured with the profits for the good of Fera! 「Curiosity」
-The Kaiser sends the exploration expedition (3 land units) further West and slightly North (of r78) in a continued search for Haljans 「Exploration Action!」「Curiosity」
-Finalise the peaceful colonisation of region 78. The land is known as 'Vythau' by the locals. Its full Feran title is 'Vythau, the Spirit Lands'* 「Colonise - 2/2」「Diplomacy」

    Stat gain - +2 Curiosity
    Army changes - None

    Spoiler

Leikjos warn Haljans of the risks of living too long underground. A Haljan's fertility, cognitive abilities and sense of self is impacted heavily by such a lifestyle. It is also theorised that those who live underground too long become unable to see the world quite the same way and may have the tendency to live a shorter life as a result. It is rumoured that the Ferans not of Halja are irritated by how little a myriad of truths have been revealed to 'Those Who Fled Below', but are at least slightly relieved their underground brethren are beginning to learn. Unfortunately, 'Those Who Fled Below' are said (well... whispered) to have other quite backward traits and beliefs which have been wrongfully made into 'Feran Laws'. What's worse is that those who decided to stay in small settlements to maintain farms surrounding various trade villages have found that their lives have been increasingly policed. At least not all Haljans of Halja are of the so-called 'Traditionalist Faction', but they are close. Gulth Thuidans Elder Shaman has been said to be active behind the scenes in attempting to bring change to Fera; to abolish certain laws and traditions and put a stop to the Traditionalist Faction before it is too late...

Rumour has it that the Kardiloss have recently been trading more stone with the rest of Fera. It seems odd to the Kaiser that nobody has thought much of it, but then again the Kardiloss keep to themselves in the slowly expanding cave system known as 'the Bat Caves'.

A few Visyknin have gone missing, according to a pair of strangely well dressed Orthyknin. Apparently they suffer a strange ailment and as such have the potential to cause severe problems if they are not found and returned quickly. Such reports like these are unheard of before now. The Kaiser worries how many such Visyknin have gone missing. The Council have begun discussing with Kvista Chiefs about locating and returning the lost Visyknin.

The Feran Council has been hard at work recently, scurrying back and forth between the various Kvista chiefs and meetings among themselves. The Masked Ones are perhaps the only ones who seem entirely unaffected, but then this is not strange for they usually keep to themselves in the mountains unconcerned with the rest of the world. Indeed, the only ones who have any significant contact with the Masked Ones are the mysterious Griuhna Haljans who still seem to keep much about themselves close to their chest. But that is beside the point. From the mountains just beyond Fera's borders rises a new nation who has raised as many experienced soldiers as they can muster right under their noses. Though the Kaiser has no interest in conquering their lands, that is not to say that a loose alliance between these new people and the Sovereign Principality of Niskovia would protect Fera from invasion. For now, however, the Ash-Kingdom of Maur have contented themselves with the invasion of the relatively peaceful if a little religiously backward thinking Alzeroth Collective. The Ferans not only feel that there is nothing they can do but that there is nothing that they should do to assist the Alzeroth Collective for it would only cause more bloodshed as ultimately who is the ruler of the Alzeroth Collective does not concern the Ferans. It is rumoured that the Traditionalist Faction of Halja even approve of Maur's means of expansion.

((I stole the idea for this directly from Kitsanth.))

    Technology
Below are brief descriptions on how the following technologies are relevant to and utilised in Feran society.

    Simple Clockwork Automata
Due to the nomadic nature of Ferans, it started to become difficult for various tasks to be carried out which other nations accomplished with ease. It was for this reason that various Automata were devised. With various tasks now being powered by water and wind, the Ferans now need to spend less time in one place to maintain it. To create a more natural atmosphere in the places where things have been constructed, the Automata technology has been used to make small water features.

    Clockwork
Despite being relatively expensive to produce in Fera, clockwork is nonetheless much easier for Kvista to work with due to its more portable nature. Larger clockwork can be found in the Automata throughout Fera. Clockwork is primarily used for its navigational, timekeeping and entertainment purposes. Clockwork devices are invaluable when flying an airship.

    Calculus
Though the Fræ Talzjands teach as many Ferans as possible of mathematics which can improve the average Ferans' life, the texts which contain more advanced mathematics known as 'Calculus' have proved invaluable to various Kvista responsible in studying and improving the sciences and construction.

    Steam Power
Despite Niskans having designed a boiler which can be dipped into Vatn-Dauths to generate heat, Steam power is not currently in widespread use in Fera.

    Airships
Airships are rather large and unwieldy for Ferans to carry with them. As such, airship construction is usually divided among various specialised Kvista which coordinate travelling to the construction site to take turns in piecing together the airship. Due to the presence of Haljans for an extended period of time, Visyknin often come to the site to tend to the domesticated livestock needed to sustain the Haljans and avoid an adverse effect on the surrounding wildlife which could last a long time. Using foreign flight techniques and saddles, Ferans devised a way of turning airships into large chariots pulled by Luftus Nochenwaurm fitted with special harnesses based on the plough collar design. This allows for more reliable travel and though it is difficult to tell, the Haljans believe the Luftus Nochenwaurm enjoy the Haljan company and experiencing new things. Airships are mainly used for trade, exploration and faster travel over longer distances. Most Haljans have never been on an airship as they are comparatively rare. The vast majority of Feran airships are owned by Fera as a nation rather than an individual or Kvista.

    Ultralight Materials
Currently, Utralight Materials techniques are held by the Kaiser as though potentially groundbreaking in combination with Geliy Vapour at some point in time, Fera has not yet developed a way to simulate the effects Cavorite has on various materials.

    Advanced Lenses
Currently, Advanced Lens techniques are held by the Kaiser as though potentially groundbreaking in combination with Zjörnu Bruka at some point in time, Fera has not yet successfully used the same techniques to cut Zjörnu Bruka due to its myriad differences to glass.

    Steam Trains
Currently, Steam Trains are an idle curiosity to a few Ferans who may in the future utilise their hybrid steam-clockwork engines. At present, Steam Trains are only useful for ferrying large quantities of resources to various ports for shipping to Fera's trade partners. The plans for these Steam Train networks have only just begun, however and are unlikely to be in use in the immediate future.

Blotan Thuidans Waithja watched young Us-Maitan Thuidans carefully as he played with Fauratan Thuidans Farsjomas Kaiser's older sons Wulthus and Eska-Hultha Thuidans. They were drawing plans with sticks in the sand for something or other.
Preferably nothing too dangerous... Blotan thought to himself.
"How do you think you will handle the threat to the south if you become Kaiser?" Spark seemed to come out of nowhere. Blotan's antennae curled in shame as he noted she was more than close enough to attack had she wanted. Though she was a Kvista chief as he was, it was still difficult for Blotan to think of her as an equal.
"It is unlikely. Surely it will be my father Bokareis Thuidans High Shaman Jarl. They say Gary does not grant Ghostfire to one who has reigned too recently, so it is unlikely to be Fauratan Thuidans Farsjomas Kaiser or Aipiskaupus Thuidans Talzjands Shaman Leikeis Jarl again unless Gary foresaw great need..."
Spark tssked, "Aren't you forgetting your uncle?"
"Gulth? He's just a useless shaman. Pfah"
    *Thwack*
Blotan did not want to think about what he would have lost were Spark's aim to have been just slightly off...
"Gulth Thuidans Elder Shaman, Kaiser to be."
"Wh... Are you kidding?! Of course it will n..."
"With an attitude like that, you'll never be Kaiser either. I suppose despite having a son, you're still too young after all."
Blotan starts to walk away, "I still don't think such a paranoid zealot becoming Kaiser would be to the good of Fera. It'll be Bokareis. You'll see."
Spark cuts in front of Blotan and rests a clawed hand against his chest to halt him, "You need a more open mind. Fauratan Thuidans Farsjomas Kaiser admits himself he is the least likely of rulers, yet has been the right Haljan for this time."
"He's not insane." Blotan makes no move to remove Spark's hand from his person, "You know, if I were Kaiser I would likely keep a close eye on Maur and work to tighten our existing alliances. Gulth will likely overreact or take too long due to focusing too much on Laiks Riqis. He's unpredictable. Because, you know... He's not all there."
"Wouldn't he have left this world long ago if he were as bad as you say? The Haljan is a century today. Insane Haljans don't live very long, you know."
"Aipiskaupus is one hundred and twenty-three. Ow, hey... I was kidding! A sore subject?"
    Spark seemed quite angry.
"No, but really. What possessed him to dedicate his life to one Haljan?"
    Spark seemed suddenly amused.
    "What?"
"I don't think you'll know anytime soon if you do not already. At least she seems to be capable of providing him with progeny."
    "Why wouldn't she be?"
    "No reason."
Spark looked at her scythe critically. It had gained some ornamentation since the day her thrice-damned outspokenness had granted it to her. Back then, she had no idea that she never was and never will be a mother. At least, not really. It was a strange feeling. At once sadness and relief, for it seemed it was a price she had to pay for her increased mental capacity. Not that it was ever a choice she could have made... If things had stayed the way they were, she would have continued to lay eggs none the wiser that hers were never ones that would hatch. That said, she would have remained in a place for which she was ill suited for the rest of her life with no way of knowing her potential; let alone the chance to fulfill it. She was certain that one way or another, she would have discovered her infertility anyway. She only wished there were others like her, so she wouldn't have to be alone...
"You're not one of those...?" Blotan interrupted her thoughts.
"Of all people, you should know the answer." Spark clicked her pincers rapidly a couple of times.
    "Of course. You're right."
Though, maybe it would be simpler if I was...
"You know, I think you're right."
Spark flicked her tail and raised an antenna at Blotan.
"Mad Gulth Thuidans Elder Shaman Kaiser would not have enough time to mess Fera up too much. But I'd have to wonder if someone had decided to replace the soil around Gary's roots with Absinthe!"

    6. The Academy of Culture and Prowess is expanding, making accomodations for the new Cuan scholars and increasing the amount of people the Academy can train. The building starts with adding transparant glasslike quartz pipes filled with water, so the Maighdeann can move through the academy. Also, whole classroomes are flooded to allow the Maighdeann to teach and learn underwater, as their voice is reduced to a whisper above water.

    • The influence of the Earthguard family wanes in major parts of the Hurosha Empire. In its place though, support for the Fireguard family arrises. Faith in the four royal families remains as strong as ever.
    • Wayve seems to harbor a hidden hatred for the Mother, or so the servants claim.
    • A play in which a dragon is scared of women, prefering men instead is becoming very popular in Zargrim. The dragon is painted pink, and the story states that he is especialy and truly truly outrageous.

    • Kyria has arranged with AQUA the allowance of Loris' body to remain at the Grove, promising to return in 50 years when 'It is my time to return and pay a portion of my due owed to my Mothers' No one is quite sure exactly what the Varinel Princess means by these words.
    • When Kyria returns to Faedas she is crowned Queen of Faedas and Queen of The Heartwaste joining her existing title as High Prince of Sanctuary. Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities
    "Land of Free Knights"
    Years 465-470
Steward Commelina, Grand-Master of the Order of Free Knights (16-20)

After 30 years, the end of the defensive war with the Zuigou Empire finally has ended. In the 8th Battle of Verbena, Grand-Master Ranun of Uran of the Free Knights died in the arms of his retainer, Commelina of Neu. The grief-stricken knight received command, so became the victorious savior of the Free Cities and the new Grand-Master of the Free Knights.
The Free Cities declared their sovereign rights and the bright star their steward and protector. This last victory sealed the end of the long war, however it will be remembered like the rest for the tales and stories of heroism and sacrifice. This is the story of the many stars of the free cities, whose ephemeral lives glow beautifully and briefly across the pages of history. So the chapter was closed and the new uncertain future awaits.

    Actions
    Spoiler
    Show
    Reorganize the Free Knights
(Military Action 5 Special: Introduce Agent: "Free Knights")
The free knights are the defenders of the common people. Now that the war is finished, it is necessary to heal the wounds of war. Commelina orders the knights to return home and rebuild. Defenders of justice and peace, their services are the moral strength of the cities. With their administration, she hopes the free cities can prosper.

    Reorganize the Army
(Military Action: Raise 1000 Troops: land units (army))
The free knights became the heroic leaders and warriors of the republic. However, it is necessary for every citizen to be prepared. Even in the festive atmosphere, Commelina knows the republic must stand firmly and orders the training of the next generation by the veterans.

Attend Third Tellurian Games, Summer 467
    (Diplomacy Action)
After two years of hard work, the invitation to attend Third Tellurian Games was received. The council agrees it is necessary to attend, to show sovereignty of the free cities to the world. Reluctantly, Commelina agrees to attend, hoping to negotiate the trade agreements necessary to help the rebuilding of the free cities.
    *Received generous technology:
Plate Armor, Lenses, Printing Press from SamBurke (Guilder)
Lenses, Magnetism, Ocean Fairing Vessels, Plate Armor, and Sewage Systems from Logic (Kingdom of Celero)
*A trade agreement was made with cordial Kingdom of Ashenia to trade <Tea> for <Fibrous Flame>.

Create peaceful trade agreement with the Ash-Kingdom of Maur
    (Diplomacy Action)
The shortage of metal because of rebuilding is a frustration for Commelina. To battle inflation, an agreement was made with cordial neighbors of the Ash-Kingdom of Maur to trade <Steel> for <Grain>.

    Situations
    Spoiler
    Show

Verbena devastation: 30 years of war with Zuigou caused the ruin of Verbena. Many refugees escaped to Rubia and Poa. However, there is a great desire to return to their parents' homes and rebuild.

Summer floods: The rainy season is the greatest enemy to rebuilding. Building in the rain and mud is a difficulty that continues to frustrate.

Uzan Iron shortage: The demands for tools and construction materials means there is scarce metal resources recently.

Spoiler: The Untimely Death of Grand Prince Zhenya
    Show
    Raykhenbahk Palace, year 469

It was early evening in Raykhenbakh when Zhenya went out onto the balcony alone. She had dismissed her guards and other attendants with the intention of watching the sunset in peace. There was of course a single servant stationed by the servant entrance should the Sovereign need anything. However, his attention wavered and the Grand Prince vanished.

The statement he gave when questioned is as follows:

"I was startled, I heard glass shatter in the passageway behind me and I turned to look." The misery was obvious in the servants voice as he gave his statement to the investigators. "When I looked back out over the balcony the Sovereign was gone. I raised the alarm immediately but it was too late. My attention wavered for only the merest second I swear!"

It was clear that he had seen nothing and other servants were able to confirm that he had never left the doorway. The unfortunate servant was immediately dismissed from service, and later found dead. It seems he couldn't live with what had happened and killed himself.

With the guards summoned a search was immediately carried out. Aside from blood found on the rail, there was no trace of the Grand Prince anywhere inside the citadel. Several hours later her body was found smashed upon the rocks at the fall's end. The leikjos were only able to confirm that she died instantly.

The next day House Alkaev's most experienced investigators were summoned to the Palace. All their findings were inconclusive. It is unknown whether an unknown being forced her over the rail or if she had become ill and fallen.

    The throne was immediately offered to Zhenya's predecessor, but Prince Vanya declined. When asked for his reasoning all he said was;

"I am an old man. There are many others who are more than capable. I will use what few years I have left to advise them."

Jehan Nisakovich ascended to the throne later that day.

    -=A New Ice Age=-
"As all fires turn to ash and all winters must yield to summer, so too does all life end."

Turn attention now to Mt.Shivira, and the capital city of Yphinerra.

Within Yphine's greatest temple, the newest high priestess accepts the rod of Yphine.

"You shall abandon all you have experienced until now." The man told her. "You shall abandon family, home, life. You shall abandon name and embrace a new one in the glory of the Goddess."

The catgirl kneeling before him couldn't have seen more than 10 winters. She stared at the ground, shaking and uncomprehending.

"Rise, Daughter of the Frost, and accept your new name!"
She stands, looking glorious and radiant amidst the snow on the top of the mountain.
"I..." The little girl gulped before speaking, a bit of a tremor in her voice. "I am Marvella, B-bearer of the Rod, High Priestess of the Chosen People, G-Guide to the Sacred Land, Hand and Voice of the go- of Yphine, Goddess of the Frost and Bringer of the Eternal Winter."

She turned away from the men as they bowed before her. She faced away from the mountain, towards the outside world.

The world that awaited her direction. Millions, if not billions, of people both in and out of the doctrine depending on her to save and guide them.

"I... I am... Yphine..." She finished lamely, head bowed. Those assembled fell to one knee before her as she raised her own.

Neva- Marvela was just glad it hadn't gone any worse.

    #-#-#

The head priests scattered after Marvela's appointment. Two or three led her to her new chambers - some of the rituals of high priestess were best discussed in private. The head of diplomacy and the head of war - strange bedfellows indeed - trudged through the streets of Yphinerre. The head of diplomacy was a catwoman in robes of icy blue. Her tail swished back and forth irritably, and her white ears pressed flat against her head. The man next to her was a drakeborn, rare for the priesthood in this city. His scales were a deep scarlet, and he stood out like a beacon in the snowbanks. His robe had been designed for a much shorter being, and as such he wore it more like a skirt than a robe. It wasn't a particularly flattering bit of dress, but no one was going to tell someone that size what to do.

"This has to be a mistake." Eirlys muttered as they walked into the snow. "This girl is hardly fit to be High Priestess."

The drakeborn man next to her (The Head Priest of war, Eirlys remembered - She really needed to remember his name) turned and cocked what she assumed was an eyebrow. "You doubt the will of Yphine?"

"My faith in Yphine has not cooled - only in her servants' ability to see the signs."

"What proof have you that these signs were read improperly? She met all requirements - the star of the north shined upon her, the powers of the priestess began to manifest, and she has survived the ravages of winter alone."

The catwoman held out her palm, gesturing to the great temple they had just left. "What more proof do we need than this? A child has been placed in charge of one of the greatest holy orders in the land! The goddess' words can turn the entire Glazfell Hegemony, the Tzaltec cult incorporates her as an elemental dragon, even the Avatar of Fire would bend their ear to Yphine's word! And we expect them to accept that a child of ten winters is ready to lead on par with them, with any of them?"

"The gods work in mysterious ways - even the ice goddess." Azareal (THAT was the name!) replied as he turned and began to walk out of the temple. "Perhaps there is something to her we do not see."

    "Such as?"

"I don't pretend to know, Eirlys." He turned to glare at her. "And frankly I find your dalliance here disconcerting. Do you not have diplomatic errands to attend to?"

"They can wait." She moved towards the drakeborn. "Let's pretend for a moment that a 10 winter girl is perfectly suited to rule. Do you not find the situation that brought about her appointment 'disconcerting'?"

    "How so?"

"Ymina died long before her final winter, we all know that."

Azareal frowned. "That is not for us to decide."

"Humor me. She was young, far too young to have died of natural causes." She scowled. "And then Elsa happens to find her dead in her room before her flesh grows cold, and her body is removed before even we see it?"

"Elsa didn't find the body. I did."

That froze her in her tracks. He couldn't have...

The drakeborn continued walking. "If you wish to complain that the mantle of high priestess has gone from a headstrong isolationist to a young child you can manipulate and groom as you will, that is your prerogative."

Eirlys couldn't believe what she was hearing. No... Azareal had been very public about how displeased he was with Ymina's policies, but... no, no one in their right mind would ever...

For the first time in her life, Eirlys felt herself trembling in Yphinerre's cold.

    #-#-#

The High Priestess held ultimate power over all decisions in Sycia, but the head priests and priestesses could confer with her on matters of church and state. The problem with this arrangement, however, was that High Priestess Marvela's training was woefully incomplete by any standard measure. So until it was complete, she would likely be relying on her Head Priests and Priestesses to make most decisions for her. After all, most of them had served on this council (for lack of a better term) for years, surely they would know better than a ten winter girl.

Azareal had called a meeting regarding affairs with Glazfell. Sycia was technically under their domain, and Ymina had been content to behave as such during her time as high priestess. Few had been quiet in their disapproval, and the chamber had been an icy place in those days.

With Marvela, however, came a glimmer of hope for the future. Perhaps now, Ymina's name could be forgotten and the head priests could begin fresh.

"No, I will not approve this project."

"FROST BITE YOU!!!" Azareal slammed his claws down as he roared at the Head Priestess Swan.

    What a fantastic start.

"Let it go, Azareal." Head Priestess Elsa groaned, rubbing her temples. "We don't have the funds right now anyway. And if we did, why would we place the bases between us and our allies?"

Azareal whirled on her. "I keep telling you, Glazfell is only going to accept managing our affairs for so long. And when we do take our rightful place again, who's to say they will not simply crush us? We've relied on them and Tzaltec for protection for far too long!"

"Glazfell's people would riot if they found out that the Hegemony had tried to 'crush us'." Eirlys spoke up. "Their leaders are not insane. As far as I know."

    "And?! Public disapproval doesn't stop-"

    "ENOUGH."

It took the head priests and priestesses a moment to realize that that iron hard voice had issued from the throat of a girl of ten winters. They turned their gaze to the high priestess, who had steepled her fingers together and was glaring at Azareal. For all of four seconds.

"L-look, if we don't have the funds, then it can't be helped, right?" She said timidly, shrinking in her seat. "We... if you know where we can get some, Azareal, that'd be great?"

Something about her tone deeply unsettled Eirlys. She spoke like an overwhelmed little girl now, but that shout wasn't even the voice of a child.

Azareal was stunned for a moment, but just as he opened his mouth, the door opened and he shut it again. Almost silently a messenger walked in from behind and slipped to Marvela carrying a parcel. The messenger quickly slipped back out of the room.

Marvela read the attached letter and waved dismissively to the group. "Oh, keep talking, it's just a coronation gift. It's been checked."

"Uh, well, I would suggest redirecting some of our missionary funds to-"

Marvela held up a finger, "Um, a-aren't we a religious power?" She asked. "E-even if we ignore that the eternal winter is coming, if we stop spreading the Doctrine of Frost, won't the other religions of the world swallow us up?"

"I... suppose, but we can't ignore the need for defense!"

"That is why we are vassals to Glazfell and part of the concordat of frost and flame." Eirlys soothed. "They keep us protected, and we provide them with religious succor."

"And what of Tzaltec?" He growled. "Yphine isn't their guide."

"Have faith, Azareal. She will be. Is she not already an elemental dragon of their pantheon?"

Azareal's eyes narrowed as he glared at the high priestess. "I hope you all know what you're doing." His voice burned. "We've only just lost Ymina, the Doctrine needs us all alive."

"...Not all of us." High Priestess Marvela stood and pointed at Azareal. "Seize him."

The guards' lack of hesitation was remarkable, given that this order should have come out of nowhere. They were on the drakeborn in an instant. The head priests and priestesses reeled at the sudden order as Azareal was wrestled to the ground.

Elsa looked to the High Priestess, suddenly frightened. "Your radiance, what is the meaning of this?"

"I just received word." Marvela's eyes narrowed. "The late high priestess was killed by poison. Poison that Azareal apparently purchased through proxy less than a week ago."

"WHAT?!" Azareal yelled, struggling. "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!

"I thought it was obvious." She continued, apparently not having heard his outburst. "You murdered Ymina."

"BUT I DIDNMMMMMRPH!!" The drakeborn was gagged, and the guards slammed his head down.

"The very first thing I did after being appointed," She continued, stepping down from her seat, "Was to look into Ymina's death personally. The guards of this city, the ones you are responsible for - at least in part - were not investigating. I had to wonder why. A high priestess dies in her own city and the guard keeps out of it? So I found Ymina's personal guard and made some inquiries of my own." Her eyes narrowed. "They were being blocked at every turn by your soldiers.

"The poison was purchased from a foreign buyer, under the pretense of being used in the army to make up for our lack of numbers." Azareal was screaming through the gag and shaking his head, but Marvela continued. "You killed her and then deliberately found her body yourself. Before the body was even cold, you had it ushered away for proper funeral rites, no doubt hoping to hide any evidence we could have uncovered."

"Blasphemy of this order only has one possible punishment."

Marvela stood. "Please make sure he grows cold before his victim."

Azareal was still struggling, and as the guards took him away, the gag slipped off. "YOU CAN'T LET THEM DO THIS, WE HAD A D-" The doors slammed shut.

Marvela turned to the remaining priests and priestesses. Each looked stunned. Marvela seemed to suddenly realize the situation and blushed with embarassment, looking down at her feet. "We uh... we'll need a new head priest. For... his stuff. Yeah. I uh... recommend guard captain Mistral for the post... cuz... stuff. "

Eirlys felt herself trembling again. Azareal had almost accused another of working with him, she was sure of it. Someone in the room had helped him murder Ymina... She looked to her fellow priests and priestesses, but the only one who didn't look surprised was the High Priestess.

    The Ash-Kingdom Rises

"Your point, Kyatris?" Tyarel gazed coldly at her subject, a woman near her own age, but scarred heavily, with skin grey as ashes, kneeling before the Burning Throne. "You walk a dangerous edge, going against my will this way..." Those who don't know them would see little odd about this, a ruler reprimanding someone chafing under her directions. But these two are lovers, or so go the rumors, and none would deny they are as close as them.

    "My lady..."
The woman falters, looking up at her liege, pain and shock on her face and in her voice. "You know I would never... That I do not say these things meaning them as treason! I merely... You walk a dangerous edge too, in coming onto the world's stage like this, and I do not wish you to fall over it. It is... I will do this, if you insist, but..."

The Dragon-Queen sighs softly, slipping off the throne and standing beside her advisor, resting a hand, cased in a clawed gauntlet, for on this of all days she feels she should wear her armor of state, on her shoulder, weariness in her gaze for a moment, before she forces herself back into her iron-hard mask, though it lingers in her voice, softer now, as apologetic as she can afford to be, though she thinks they are alone. "I... You're right, Ky. It's just... Hard, these days. Harder than it used to be. But we have to do this. People are starving, and we can't draw on anyone else without looking weak. And we need to expand anyway. Look at our neighbors, how many of them would conquer us, if they could. Raise the troops. Send them forth. We will take Alzeroth - but I will let that be enough, for now.

That will at least show them that we have teeth. Maybe they will seek easier pickings for a time, after this."

Raise five units of troops. [Military, five actions]

Throughout the Ash-Kingdom, war was being called. Troops massed, five thousand strong - as many as Kyatris Varanov, the Serpent-General, Bearer of The Lady's Breath, had been able to raise in the year she had been granted to prepare. Not a huge army, not by the standards of some... But more than enough for Alzeroth. And there were more on the way, Tyarel had promised her that, when she gave her this command (saying, as she did, that she needed someone she could trust to lead the attack).

The horns blew. The battle-drums were sounding. It was time; Alzeroth would be sacked, and made into the first subject in the Ashen Dominion.

    Spoiler: This Turn's Actions
    Show
Raise four units of troops. [Military, four actions]
Deploy all troops accessible (five units) into Alzeroth. [Military]

Aaaand that's Mil 10, as I just raised Mil by +5.

    Round Twenty Eight

    The Tyrant's Inquisition

    Spoiler: Details
    Show
    Inquisitor’s Axioms
    • Don't snatch up a weed too zealously, pull gently and see where the roots lead.
    • Every town breeds the kind of criminal it deserves, and receives exactly the sort of law enforcement it insists on.
    • Nothing is beneath scrutiny, big fish often make small ripples.
    • An Inquisitor who abuses Citizens is worse then a guard dog that compulsively knocks out it's own teeth.
    • If you want a man to do something stupid, encourage him to think he's clever.
    • Fool me once, Good for you! Fool me twice, run, run far and fast because if I catch you no one will ever find the body.
    • If all else fails, try teaching them a few of the countless legal ways to be dishonest.

The Tyrant's Inquisition replaces the False Khaliphate's 'Magistrate' system. The old Magistrate's dealt “justice” at the whim of their personal preference, with their main goal being oppression of political dissidents.

The purpose of the Inquisition is to serve and protect the the well being of all Cree citizens. As their name suggests, Inquisitors scrutinize reported and discovered crimes to determine the full truth of the matter using deductive reasoning and advanced scholarship before passing sentence on the accused.

To this end, the University at Ryazen Bay has devoted resources to a field of study being tentatively referred to as 'Forensics'. Buildings have been set aside across the country to house the accused awaiting conformation of their innocence or guilt. Public courts, separate from that of the town or city Demagogue, have been set up with the specific function of hearing and adjudicating criminal charges.

The Inquisitorial uniform is distractingly colorful, loose fitting enough to conceal the Inquisitor's general body-type and discrete armor, and includes a horse faced mask. This allows the Inquisitors to make a clear presence of themselves in locations where it is important to communicate a sense of security, and make it easier for them to go unrecognized while operating more discreetly.

The ranks of the Inquisition have metaphorical names corresponding to their function.

Field agents are organized into “Hands”.
Each Hand contains up to 7 “Fingers” lead by a “Palm”.

The main office in any town or city is overseen by a “Head”.
The Head is aided by a staff of “Eyes” who perform clerical duties.
Cases are presented to “Ears” charged with the task of Exonerating or Sentencing of the accused.

The “Heart” of the Inquisition is a member of the Tyrannical Cabinet and oversees all of the nation's Heads.

    NPC ACTIONS

Alzeroth Collective Region, Previous Actions Round 27

Invasion! While the Ministers had been worried on being swallowed up from the south a new power has arisen to their east and marches now on Alzeroth to raze it to the ground! The reports indicate the army is 5 times the size of Alzeroth's own forces and led by a cunning general, though relief is felt that whatever martial leader commands this nation is not at the helm of the army.

The Ministers hold a council meeting and the Grand Minister elects to try and buy the Alzerites time to prepare to hold off the incoming army by leading the forces of Alzeroth on a counter-offensive intended to split the invading army. As the Grand Minister prepares to march east runners reach throughout the villages calling up every able bodied man and woman to begin training for defense and requesting all local guardsmen and those with martial training to report to the Ministry of Defense for formation into a trained military unit.

The people are instructed to fall back to the capital, leaving any remnant army of invaders to occupy the land outside the capital and thus avoid any direct conflict until it is known how the Grand Minister fares in his brave march.

1.) Counter-invade the Ash Kingdom with 1,000 troops under Grand Minister Visontas (2 Military Score, 1 Unit) [Military]
2.) Raise Militia in Alzeroth (86,000 population) [Military]

    Planinfrag
Region Post, Round 26, Round 27
1.) Sign an official treaty of vassalage to the Glazfell Hegemony [Diplomacy]
2.) King Rufus, after a campaign that saw few casualties for either side in the last years, redoubles his efforts to drive out the Orcs and route them for the people of the Planinfrag. The King also reaches out to his new liege, requesting assistance from the Hegemony in destroying this threat. The curse shall soon be lifted! (6 Mil Score, 4 Units, +1 Plate Armor) [Military]
3.) Raise 1,000 Land Forces under the direction of mercenary captain Eli of the Haiwaste [Military]

'And who are you,' the Winged King said,
    'I'd ever bow so deep?
Simply a man from across the seas,
    Divine skill you shan't reap.
A golden sword or one of stone,
A blade can still claim life,
And mine are many and hard, my lord,
    Harder I say than yours.'

A formal protest delivered to representatives of the Empire of Hurosha at the Tellurian Games

    To the representatives of the Empire of Hurosha;
I, Princess Idrisa Toranath, heir to the throne of Ashenia, have sent you this message in order to denounce you and your Emperor for seeking conquest of the icy North for no discernible reason. The King of Ashenia hereby demands you withdraw your troops and return them to your own territories immediately or we will be forced to take action.
I implore you, abandon this violent course and allow those who have done you no wrong to continue their lives in peace. Hopefully, your lust to prove your own "prowess" has not blinded you to reason and honour.
    Yours in trust,
Idrisa Toranath on behalf of Kellan Toranath III.

    Spoiler: Actions
    Show
1: Send a representative (the Princess Idrisa) to the Tellurian games to meet with foreign dignitaries and heads of state. [Diplomacy]
While there, she enacts the following trades:
-Export Tea from Kyaralath and Shadecrystal from Ascalaine to Bordeux.
-Export Tea to the Land of Free Knights in exchange for Fibrous Flame to Ashenia.
In addition, she sends the Huroshan delegates a formal protest in regards to their militant actions in the North.

2: Resume all land not already spoken for within the Kingdom. Half is designated as Crown Land, one third as Common Land and the remaining sixth is purchased by the King to add to his personal holdings. [Diplomacy]

3: Despite the followers of Jaaku Na apparently having abandoned Ashenia, the persecution against them continues in order to assure that no followers again cause trouble. [Faith]

4: Complete construction of the rail network with Kyaralath. [2/2] [Curiosity]

5: Begin construction of new sewer systems throughout Ashenia based on modern designs developed in the Triumvirate. These will replace older and significantly more inefficient systems built centuries ago. [1/2] [Curiosity]

6: With assistance from Bordeux (see Lord Burch's action post) the Ashenite army again moves against the stone warriors besieging Sulvan's Fury. Prince Hazael willingly passes command to General Cerise of Bordeux stating "I know enough about strategy to know that Nicholas would do a better job than me." [Military]
    Modifier: 15 = 9 + 1 + 2 (9000 troops, special cavalry, special metal.)

    Spoiler: Vassal Action

    Round Twenty-Nine: Begin!
Years 471-475 of the Common Calendar

    Current OOC thread
    Dice Rolls here and following

Don’t forget to link to any rolls you make for ANY Attribute checks, plus rolls for rulers you will start using at the start of next round. If you want a new ruler in the next round, you must state so in your action post for this round and link to their rolls. Any increases from actions for this round are counted for the ruler you start your next round with (because it’s handier to account for by the co-GM), which may or may not be your current ruler.

    Good luck!

    Rules Changes!

A number of changes and clarifications have been made! See the Rules and Administration thread for latest changes (in red!)

    Lucky!

    The Luck rules have changed!

    • Luck shall no longer be a ruler stat but instead a player pool
    • Everyone's current ruler luck will become their current standing player pool and will continue to be tracked in the rulers table for ease of administration but shall not be associated with the rulers there.
    • Luck will be spent in increments of 5 or 10 out of the pool
    • Taking a Luck 5 or Luck 10 action will no longer be it's own action but will be noted to be applied along with a non-luck action
    • Luck will be distributed at a rate of +1 to every player for every 2 consecutive active rounds by that player.
    • Luck will be retro-actively applied as if under this system for the previous rounds in which no luck was distributed. Exact increases of luck for which players forthcoming in the coming days.
    • Luck will be rolled up with 1d4 when the luck pool reaches 0
    • Luck 10s ability to "do something amazing" shall be subject to case by case review by the GM team

    Growth!

The lands of the Grand Duchy of Pavonia formally now proclaim themselves the Pavonian Imperium, a Great Kingdom!

The Tzaltec Empire has become a Great Kingdom!

Dong Nam Dosi becomes a vassal kingdom under the Kingdom of the Silver Moon... but not for long!

The Glazfelli Hegemony extends its reach further eastwards, as its former subject King Rufus of Stolok pledges himself and the Planinfrag as vassal.

A new High Priestess has been chosen in Sycia, bringing hopes that it will be returned to its former glory!

The Kingdom of Novrania has become part of the Ancestral Quill Unification Alliance!

[466] 25,000 refugees arrive from Kelldria, eager to take up the offer of green, fertile land within the Imperium. They have been branded for their alleged cowardice by their former people. Cas-Teire gains 25,000 population.

    Investigate!

[466] Aaron Nu's killer has been apprehended in Malkavan! Upon questioning, he claims that the killing was a political protest against the unprovoked Bordeusi invasions of neighbouring regions and suppression of native peoples. It is more widely said that he was a merchant driven out of business by the flooding of the market with new, better-quality goods from Nezett Karn and Dong Nam Dosi.

[469] After months of searching, Huroshan investigators into the theft of Sun Quencher are led to the Black Woods where the thieves, strange ritual obsessed cultists believed to be a perverted offshoot branch of Jaaku Na taking influence from the Doctrine of the Frost and recovered texts of the Order of True Flame, are suspected to be hiding out.

Deep within the Black the investigators find their suspected thieves and cultists, but more than that they rediscover the legendary Ice Heart, rumoured to have been discovered long ago by independent Pryonia but having dissolved into legend. Unfortunately for the investigators they arrive only just in time to witness the cultists plunge the cursed sword into the Ice Heart!

A blizzard is said to have been unleashed by the frozen dying heart in Pryonia and though the investigators were able to dispatch the cultists the damage had already been done. A freezing chill sweeps through Pryonia and does not dissipate as Spring returns, if anything the region growing colder and it seems to be spreading to Pryonia's neighbors with each winter season. Crops wilt to barely self sustaining levels and the people cry that if this trend continues there will be no ground left unfrozen to grow in and become discontent.

    Colonize!

Fera has finished colonising Vythau, the Spirit Lands (Region 78)! [Colonisation 2/2]

Guilder has finished colonising Region 83! [Colonisation 2/2]

The Kingdom of the Isles has finished colonising Region 123! [Colonisation 2/2]

The Tzaltec Empire has begun colonising Region 104! [Colonisation 1/2]

The Tzaltec Empire has begun colonising Region 102! [Colonisation 1/2]

AQUA has failed to establish colonies in Region 154! Did they offend the natives? Surely not!

Niemidaland has begun colonising Region 89! [Colonisation 1/2]

    Claim!

[469] Dong Nam Dosi has asserted its complete independence from the Kingdom of the Silver Moon!

    Convert!

Vennland now contains a minority of Lord of Fire worshippers!

The Lord of Fire once again holds an undisputed hold over the hearts of the people of Gunung, the Ascension minority all but disappeared.

The Heartwaste has now converted wholly to Children of Kina!

The people of Tekorva have given themselves completely over to the Mother, and Children of Kina is their sole religion!

The newly established Pavonian Imperium converts to the Path! Pavonia, Novorogh and Frios all contain followers of the Path!

Solus now contains more followers of the Cult of the Sky!

Radurja is now the sole religion in Guilder!

Rannara now contains more followers of Radurja!

Requiem now contains a minority of Radurja followers!

Cas-Teire now contains a minority of Ascension worshippers! The Ascension minority in Minotron is much reduced.

    War!

[466.1] The army of Ashenia, now reinforced by their allies from the Kingdom of the Silver Moon, clashes once again with the stone men in Sulvan's Fury. Having learned from their previous encounters, this time their defence is much more successful, and the attackers are completely destroyed. 3,000 Bordeusi troops are also killed in the battle.

    Spoiler: Details

    Allies roll 17

[466.3] The Gunung army, enraged by the crimes of the Ascensionists against the temples of the Lord of Fire, descends upon the militants and completely wipes them out. By the time the battle is done, it is said not an Ascensionst remains in the region.

[466.6] Arthus Divinorum leads the Burning Legion out against the militants marching on Caloxdur. The initial clash is indecisive, with neither side able to gain a significant advantage. 1,000 Calorum troops perish in defence of their faith.

[467.2] Glazfell marches to the aid of its new vassal in the Planinfrag, seeking to clear the orcs finally from the land. Surprised by the sudden incursion of fresh troops, the orcs are completely, and predictably, overwhelmed, barely even presenting an obstacle to the Glazfelli army. The orcs are wiped out. Glazfell and the Planinfrag suffer negligible losses.

[468.5] The amphibians of U12 abandon their attack on Cuan and retreat back to their own region in the face of Huroshan reinforcements and a diplomatic offensive from the Emperor.

[468.6] The army of Hurosha marches into the polar region west of Tletica. The warriors of Syvine, those who assaulted Intepeuh in years prior, make another appearance at the arrival of the Huroshans but this time in what seems to be full force. 10,000 men with iron tipped spears and ships capable of sailing across the ice fields surround the Huroshan expeditionary force and work to bring them down. As in their previous battle, the Huroshans are taken aback by the skill of the attackers, who lure them onto the ice fields where they can deploy their boats. The Huroshans are narrowly defeated, losing 2,000 troops, but manage to inflict 1,000 casualties of their own.

A blizzard is said to have been unleashed by the frozen dying heart in Pryonia and though the investigators were able to dispatch the cultists the damage had already been done. Declaration of Independence to Hurosha
    Spoiler

    Emperor Wayve Earthguard,

This message is intended for your eyes but shall be distributed to any sovereign of any nation who desires to read it's contents. We of the Faedas Freehold, so incorporating the entities known separately as The Heartwaste Holds and The Ancient Fiefdom of Sanctuary have on this day declared your leadership unfit as suzerain of our nations or our collated liege the Freehold. A number of irreconcilable differences and offenses have been catalogued as well as a list of your failures to provide adequately for those sworn to your crown which shall be recreated here for your viewing.

    • It is known that the forces of Hurosha under Emperor Wayve Earthguard failed to come to the aid of their vassal the Kingdom of Calorum while threatened by uprising militants
    • It is recorded that the forces of Hurosha were misappropriated for defending a region neither adjacent nor geographically relevant to the holdings of the Empire or it's vassals and that this defense was carried out in folly, first with severe under-preparedness and lack of foresight and again against an enemy that no scout reports having seen approaching.
    • So too is it recorded that while it's vassal Calorum was under assault the Huroshan military was further diverted from the uprising lands of its vassal to go north to attempt conquest of a heretofore unknown territory and in doing so violated the terms of agreement and cooperation laid down between the crowns of Hurosha and Ashenia on multiple occasions.
    • Documentation provided by the Glazfell Hegemony and checked by independent sources has proven that Hurosha operates a policy of slavery within Keldagrim in direct opposition to its own laws regarding the practice.
    • Hurosha's declaration of embargo upon Glazfell is well noted to have been overly punitive and to have only been tempered by Faedas' alteration of the terms within it's own realms.
    • The documentation of the minutes between Glazfell, Guilder, Hurosha, and Faedas indicate a complete unwillingness of the Emperor to apologize for his oversteps and abuse of power in regards to operation as a liege-lord.

For these reasons and others innumerable and minute the Faedas Freehold so represented this day by Queen Kyria Varinel, Prince Katsu, the Fae Court, and the Yorukuni Aristocracy do hereby declare their independence from the Huroshan Empire under the guidance of Emperor Wayve.

With the uprisings in Calorum needing of attention and threat in the north and under the sea that have been deemed priorities of the Huroshan Empire it is the hope that Hurosha will accept a peaceable withdrawal of the Freehold and continued trade relations and pursue no further follies of violence but the Freehold and its allies stand ready to resist such attempts should they be deemed necessary to secure sovereignty and independence.

    Signed This Day,
Queen of Faedas Kyria Varinel, Queen of the Heartwaste, High Prince of Sanctuary

    Re-printed statements from Hurosha
“The Counsil of Havalder? A slavery institute? That is preposterous! The Counsil of Havalder serves to lessen the differences in mindset of Buuka and Dwarf, not to widen them.

Empress Nyllana was the one who came up with the idea, many decades ago, when I was still young. And what a brilliant idea it was. A counsil, 3 Buuka, 3 Dwarves, determining if it was appropriate to punish somebody for racism. Now, in those times, nobody was neutral. Buuka favored Buuka, Dwarf favored Dwarf. What had this of an effect on the proceedings? Most of the time, 3 votes in favor of punishment, 3 votes against. The outcome? A very startled Bucka or Dwarf. Things changed when time went on: Buuka and Dwarfs began to work together and the counsil began voting more strictly. 4 in favor, 2 against, that began happening more often. And the punishment? A warning at first. If they are caught again? A lifetime of service.

Is that slavery? No. They keep the right to their own household, they keep their own gold, holdings and everything. They even get paid, based on the income of the one who got wronged. The only thing they cannot choose, is their employer. They are forced to be employed by the one they wronged. By the ones they tried to ruin the life off. Hence the lifetime of service. However, should the racist save the life of the one who got wronged, the dept is repayed. Because without him, he would be dead! Brilliant, isnt it? This situation has led to more cooperation between Buuka and Dwarfs then ever before. I mean, when you save somebody's life, you create a bond with them you know. Even if it is a small bond.

What is a rich person is employed by a poor one? Simple! The rich person tries to get the poor person back on his feet. Setting up a shop, assigning personel to help the one in question. That sort of things. Quite nifty if I say so myself.

Nowadays, convictions are few and far between, and the Dwarves and Buuka get along quite fine for the most part. I say let those outsiders say what they want, they..know...nothing!

I vow this is the truth, and the only truth as accesible by my fullest knowledge and Prowess upon the blood of my family and the blood of Ashmar.”
The same minutes that show that the last Emperor did not try to apologize did also show an intense hostility towards him. This, coupled with the fact that the Glazzfell queen did not even try to negotiate a passible solution to the problem, prefering to mindlessly evade the subject, led to a situation that the Emperor could not apologize.
    To all rulers of Telluris,

The Shuzoku No Henkaku has been invoked. Wayve Earthguard, in light of his actions in the past decades, has been determined unfit to rule. A corruption, presumably placed by the dreaded traitor Ridovo, has been found festering inside his body, eating away at soul and body alike. His son, Rove Earthguard, my husband, took the ancient Kasumori tests of Prowess, but failed to complete them. This, together with the signs given to the Avatar of Balance by Ashmar himself, led to the invoking of the Shuzoku No Henkaku. The Earthguard family has voluntairily given up the rights to rule Hurosha and it was determined the family of Fireguard will succeed them.

I, Ryena Fireguard, am crowned to henceforth be the Empress of Hurosha, Eienguard of Kasumor and Scion of Ashmar. As my first action, I will apologize for any wrong doings Emperor Wayve Earthguard might have wrought in his madness. If one would like to discuss these, you are welcome to visit Earthhome.

However, not all he has done was based on insanity.

Regarding the matter of Faedas' independence, Hurosha will tolerate it for now, in the light of these supposed “failings” of the Hurosha Empire, even if most of those are not correct.
Added to this letter, you will find some statements from Huroshan officials and witnesses that will be most enlightning to those who are interested in knowing the truth behind these allegations. These reports were hidden from view by Huroshan officials of undetermined allegiance. Somebody wanted these records to stay hidden in desperation.

Finally, I want to stress the fact that no trades will be canceled, only reviewed as to their importance and necesity. I hope that I, and all Fireguard after me, will be able to cooperate with the other rulers of Telluris.

May Ashmar enlighten us and Prowess guide us,

Empress Ryena Fireguard, Eienguard of Kasumor, Scion of Ashmar.
A response to the statements of Hurosha approved and recognized by the Queen and her Council is re-printed below for all to view.

Despite outright statements from the Counsil of Havalder that their institution is not slavery their very own statements dsprove themselves. What institution would one call the forced servitude of one intelligent being to another, not over debt as might be acceptable for a debtor's sentence, but over perceived crimes of 'racism' as determined by a Counsil that by it's own admission has in the past proved completely ineffective at even carrying out its sentences but has since become collusive and not subject to oversight or replacement over their periods of service.

A lifetime of service, bound to an employer they did not choose but were thrust under with no recourse to escape is slavery with the accoutrements of food and housing provided under other slavery institutions substituted for payment and the right to earn their freedom dangled over them should they choose to risk their life for their master. Hurosha holds no right to proclaim itself a slave-free state or to continually denounce those of Tzaltec it claims to be so opposed to.

On further point, it is perhaps the desire of the new Fireguard dynasty that has stripped the power of the Queen's Father and Brother, to, if in earnest attempting to distance itself from the actions of Wayve Earthguard not continue to pursue promotion of the former Emperor's policies and to not continue endorsing the former Emperor's pursuance of non-reconciliation with Glazfell as right and proper. The Glazfell Hegemony has readily and consistently communicated with Faedas and have been found far more logical in their dealings than our former liege ever was.

And on our final point, Faedas does not recognize the Shuzoku No Henkaku as properly invoked for the dynasty has not changed, Ryena has only taken the place of her husband who's blood and name borne is Earthguard and who's children shall too retain the blood of Earthguard. Further, the Queen and her sister both have not surrendered the right of Earthguard, a right they both retain by the blood of Earthguard, to sit upon the throne in Earthome as proclaimed by the usurpers. Until such a time as Shuzoku No Henkaku is properly executed or a proper Earthguard is returned to the throne of Hurosha the Faedas Freehold does not recognize the sovereignty of Ryena Fireguard as Empress and the Queen of Faedas shall retain the proper title accorded to her by blood as Empress of Hurosha in Absentia.

    Re-printed statements from Hurosha

While it is regretable that your kind lacks the Prowess to see, I should have expected that. Therefore I raise the following: Under Faedas' flawed logic, everything that occurs against the will of another is considered slavery. We live in a world where penalties are needed for wrongdoings and there is no place for naive statements such as those of Faedas. Furthermore, slaves lose the right to everything, even their own lives, family and soul, the latter of which is broken until beyond repair. Even more, the punishment is One life's worth. And that is the capital punishment for totally ruining somebody's life. For matters akin to Murder. It only speaks of Faedas' intentions that they are blind to the true way this system works. Yes, Hurosha will continue to condemn Tzalteclan, for we see the "enslavement" process as a direct insult to the potential and Prowess of the recipiant.

Furthermore, Faedas speaks of the Shuzoku No Henkaku as though they are familiar with its workings. They, who do not even worship Ashmar. By default, only those who worship Ashmar and only Ashmar have right to the throne of Hurosha. Therefore, Faedas' proclamation is Void, even before taking the other points into account. The Shuzoku No Henkaku itself is a extremely well-guarded Ashmaric ritual, one that outsiders will not know the specifics of other than the fact that it is Ashmar's way to steer Hurosha unto the right path along with maybe some other minor rumours. To speak of the Shuzoku No Henkaku as if Faedas knows its inner workings and daring to anounce it is not executed properly is blasphemy of the highest order and will be viewed as such by the Hurosha Empire.

For the other rulers of Telluris, know this: This change in regime has been agreed upon by the Avatar of Balance, Nyllana, the former Emperor, Wayve Earthguard, his son, Rove and me. All rights for the throne will be given to the Fireguard family, as traditition dictates. This is the sworn truth, by Ashmar's Blood and the Prowess of my family. The rites of Shuzoku No Henkaku have been overseen by a number of officials, from both the militairy and faith. All have agreed that the rites have been executed perfectly.

Finally, while the point is moot, the one comment that actually makes sense is the matter of the Earthguard family. Bonds with traitors that lack Prowess must be severed indeed. Glad that Faedas agrees on that.

Signed by Ryena Fireguard, Empress of Hurosha, Eienguard of Kasumor, Scion of Ashmar

By Ashmar's Blood and the Prowess of the Soul, the following vow that the Shuzoku No Henkaku has executed properly and that the Shuzoku No Henkaku is in full effect:
•Ambassador Kenwyn Jakson, Grïend, Helga Grimhammer, Yras Seòl-mara, Myron.
    • The Headmaster of the Academy of Culture and Prowess, Magnus.
    • All the Arches of the Huroshan Army.
    • The Avatar of Balance, Nyllana Earthguard.
*A month later, rumours start spreading that Ryena and Rove are no longer together and that both Wayve and Rove have embarked on towards Cuan, to oversee the defenses there. No Earthguard hold a Ambassador or Leader role at this point in time, barring matters of the faith.*
Forced work under an assigned master for crimes of 'racism' itself nowhere near the caliber of murder or other crimes, if in truth even a crime, is an institutionalized form of enslavement despite Hurosha's insistence that their thought police are not arresting those who do not conform to their perceived views and forcing them into slavery. It should also be noted Hurosha deftly avoids addressing the inherent issues in the flawed Counsil but it has come to be expected that Hurosha as led by those habitually given power makes a point of ignoring and mollifying it's mistakes rather than addressing them properly.

On the point of Ashmarism worship holding the key to Shuzoku No Henkaku it is insulting to Faedas religious scholars to speculate that because they do not bend the knee to Ashmar they cannot understand his laws and is a further insult that Hurosha believes Tekorva, itself having contained Ashmarites until coming to worship She who is truly worthy in the most recent of years, is without any who still remember the old rituals. Further, it should be brought to bear that the necessity of Ashmarism worship is an inevitable collusion to maintain appeasement of Nyllana Earthguard given her position despite her bloodline. It should also be made notice of that the Queen, herself of Earthguard blood and next to her brother in any proper succession, was not invited or informed of the Shuzoku No Henkaku nor invited to attend as would be proper and thus Faedas maintains that this Shuzoku No Henkaku was improperly executed and the rights of the Earthguard are not surrendered by Queen Kyria or her sister Loris until such a time as they are given reason to relinquish these recognized rights.

On this point the Queen extends official invitation to the Earthguard clan, notably her beloved brother, as well as any other excluded from the Shuzoku No Henkaku and sharing suspicions regarding its proper execution to join the Fae Court in Faedas and be granted power and position appropriate to their still recognized position within the true Hurosha Empire.

While the Queen is pleased her words were able to convince the false empress to attempt and follow through more completely on the Shuzoku No Henkaku until such a time as it is properly recognized by all involved Faedas will continue not to recognize this usurpation and the Queen shall retain her rightful title until her brother reclaims his proper inheritance or a proper Shuzoku No Henkaku is executed.

    In the name of
    Kyria Varinel
    Empress of Hurosha in Absentia
    Queen of Faedas
    Queen of the Heartwaste
    High Prince of Sanctuary

    Spoiler: Rumors and Events
    Show
With the Otgan Khaboss slain and all of his warriors dead, captured, or scattered, the remaining Otgan population is at Glazfell's mercy. Consisting of mostly Orcish Women, Children, and Elders too old to fight, King Rufus initially plans to simply drive them away but accepts a piece of advice from his Court to resettle them instead, taking advantage of their current leaderlessness and defeated army to move them to a series of hastily-constructed settlements around the Capital City of Hradiska, where they can live in peace under Planin oversight and protection. Within a few generations, this battle will be mere history, and maybe Planin's curse will recede faster with the Orcish craftsmen left alive and able to teach. If nothing else, they can contribute their practices to the community, and they'd gain little from rebellion given that they're reliant on Planin foodstuffs and wouldn't stand a chance against Glazfell's army or even the Planinfrag's.

With Glazfell's cultural dominion, its Common Law comes into effect. Though their primary purpose is to standardize laws, penalties, and regulations throughout Glazfell's Heartland, several laws are instituted to force a shift of power toward the King. Though most of the military was already under crown control, the feudal levies of various dukes, counts, and barons are largely subsumed into the greater structure rather than relying on bickering nobles to ensure everyone works together. Though Nobles are allowed to retain a retinue of guards and hirelings, proper military forces now owe loyalty only to the crown. Similarly, it is no longer the duty of local nobility to arbitrate civil or criminal disputes, and each city receives a Court of Grand Burghers to fulfill judiciary and administrative roles. Nobles retain their land and titles, but the rules on slavery are clarified in a way that does not allow serfs to be kept. Thus, most of the landowning Nobility must either hire commoners directly to work the land, lease the land to merchants so that they may hire people to work it and possibly make a profit, or import slaves from Tzalteclan to do the jobs. The Nobility also retains several privileges, such as exemptions from conscription, the right to serve as an Officer or Saenz if voluntarily joining the army, the power to post bail for an incarcerated relative, and the ability to legally own land. Given that they still retain much of the money, all of the land, most of the education, and virtually all positions in High society, Glazfelli Nobility remains a powerful aristocracy even if they no longer directly hold executive power of their own. Not to mention that most of the Grand Burghers are nobles anyway...

Glazfell's vassals are encouraged to adopt the basic set of standardized laws and punishments, though not required to do so.

King Ghalle of Glazfell publicly recognizes the Sovereign status of the newly-independent Faedas Freehold, citing her own grievances against Hurosha alongside Faedas' newer ones. She also cites the Nightmare Bond (though not by name) to emphasize ancient ties of friendship to be respected, although Glazfell was not a notable player upon the world stage at the time and certainly was not a member of the Nightmare Bond (though Sympolemou was). Duke Ironfang II flatly supported her declaration, stating that he would happily reform the Nightmare Bond given the opportunity.

A mysterious report in Frosskov details an encounter with a member of the Order of the Cleansing Cold wearing a Ruemel Cloth. This...could be a problem.

I will keep this brief. I apologize for my bluntness, but I feel I must put certain issues to rest.

It has come to our attention that your land has recently come under the sway of a brutal and unending winter, due to the destruction of an ancient artifact called the Ice Heart. I must insist you allow Yphine's chosen to investiage the matter personally, as this ties directly both with Yphine's domain and with the prophecy of the Final Winter. (I do not believe this to be the case, but it is better to be safe than frozen to death) In exchange, I will provide you with some of our grain - it is cold-resistant and grows well, and I do not doubt for a moment you will need food resources imported should this winter spread.

If prayers to the goddess herself will not help, then her gifts in ice sorcery will.

This messenger is on the back of my fastest available pegasus - please respond swiftly.

High Priestess Marvella of the Holy Kingdom of Sycia

    Rumors
    • The Head Priests and Priestesses convene for a full 3 day period in which none but they are permitted entrance. Afterwards, Marvella announced that the situation in Pyronia was too dire to ignore. However, she also stressed that this was not the eternal winter.
    • While the exact details are unclear, Wesley of Guilder caused some sort of trouble with Sycia's pegasi
    • On the coast, the Holy Kingdom is preparing some sort of expedition.

Nonetheless the handsome Dusk Knight Senator declines to run for re-election and the Senate is open wide to many number of various interests.

A coalition of Senators primarily composed of representatives from Genivana and Grizzland said to be connected to the Agri Guilds in their respective territories have banded together and formed the Agricultural Party and have been having a major influence on the policies, laws, and research funding the Senate approves.

Another coalition of those with connections to the Professional Guilds out of Aloren, K'Braashriix, Woodwind, and even some with rumored connections to the Oldest Guild in Hrathan-Tuor have formed a moderately opposing party dubbed the Advancement Party by the political rags.

Much of the senate however remains highly moderate and don't identify with either party explicitly, owing their votes to personal connections and friends over any imagined party lines.

The two parties each nominate a moderate candidate for Speaker and neither especially impresses or appalls the Senators leading to a close, but largely uninteresting vote. The Agri nominee, Senator Clarissa Minires of Grizzland is elected Speaker, and is the first female Speaker to be elected (A point many papers say is what won her the election for novelty's sake alone)

Spoiler: The Mysterious Disappearance of Prince Vanya
    Show
    475, Kishinev

No one is entirely certain of what has happened to Prince Vanya, the beloved former Sovereign. What we do know is as follows - not long after his return from the Florin Ilses, Prince Vanya had gone to visit the observatory being constructed at the new University. It was an impromptu visit and as such he was accompanied by just two members of the Home Guard. Vanya, a long-time scholar, was in the midst of inspecting the telescope mount when he asked his guards to bring him a spyglass from another room. Thus one guard left the room in order to locate a spyglass. Soon after Vanya requested that the remaining guard give him some privacy and so the remaining guard moved to stand by the doorway.

At that point events become confused. According to reports the guard by the door heard a noise in the hall, turned to look - thus loosing sight of the Prince - saw that the noise was merely the other guard and looked back into the room. As he did so both guards saw a blinding flash of light. Once the light subsided the two guards searched the room. The only thing they discovered was Prince Vanya's discarded attire. And a more extensive search turned up nothing else.
Investigators from House Alkaev have been able to verify that both guards were telling the entire truth as they know it.

Given the manner of Prince Vanya's disappearance, his younger sister Syuzanna was called in to consult with the investigators. Lady Syuzanna has been an adherent to the ways of Kartina Zhizni since 428. The signs of Vanya's disappearance - a blinding flash of light, no trace of an individual besides their discarded possession - are consistent with what occurs when a being achieves transcendence. However after conducting her own investigation of the site of her brother's disappearance, Lady Syuzanna had little to say.

"If my brother had passed onto what comes next, I would be able to feel his presence there. But there is nothing. I cannot feel any trace of him... it's almost as if he wasn't even here three days ago."

Despite further questioning Lady Syuzanna was unable to offer any further details that might have explained her cryptic comments.

At this point Vanya Nisakovich is presumed lost.
