Re: Erfworld thread IV: In memory of King Saline
I'll form the head
It's a lot more similar to the model Parson was playing with in the last text update than I would have thought.
Also, I just noticed Parson's facial expression in the last text update.

Re: Erfworld thread IV: In memory of King Saline
It fits a tower's anti-air defense function, since this is presumably a Gradius Moai Interceptor Cannon.

Re: Erfworld thread IV: In memory of King Saline
I think Tool will be very disappointed with a tower that does nothing. However that Easter Island statue will turn out to be very useful. I speculate that it'll improve the city's efficiencies or a drastic reduction in upkeep cost, or it'll improve on the city's defense so much that troops are not needed to defend the capital (the city itself becomes one giant unit so you can only destroy it, but can't capture it)
I think the most likely outcome is that, just like the Easter Island counterpart in real life, the status does nothing and just sucks up large upkeep and Parson will get crap for it.

Re: Erfworld thread IV: In memory of King Saline
Well, it's a head. And heads can...talk, I guess. What might this one have to say? Does it know secrets of Jetstone? Secrets of the erf? It looks kinda taciturn, but it would be interesting if it had opinions. Maybe it won't have any direct battle utility, but it'll be a character.

Maybe he gives advice on how to do something, and then ends with "The Choices Are Yours And Yours Alone!"

Maybe it'll defend the city by calling invaders dum-dums.

Re: Erfworld thread IV: In memory of King Saline
Aaand the first update with the new Patreon-style system is missed. I guess there's zero buffer still.
Forgive me if this issue has already been raised; I remember we talked about it a few pages ago but I'm still unclear. The Kickstarter was supposed to fund Book 3 from start to finish. Why is there now additional funding required per update? What became of the original funding?

Today is holiday, so is next Monday. Most people don't work on holidays.

Re: Erfworld thread IV: In memory of King Saline
Didn't stop other webcomics from updating. And this probably wouldn't even be mentioned if Erfworld wasn't having constant issues with consistent updates.
Maybe, just maybe, when promising an update schedule, going for a buffer - even a modest one, like two or three pages - would be a good idea?

Re: Erfworld thread IV: In memory of King Saline
Some did, some didn't. It's not really a big deal. One or two days late, versus silly April the First stuff that means you can't read any news for a day? I'm a lot happier with a couple of reasonable missing days that a lot of people take. I agree it is probably better to let people know beforehand rather than on the day, but even so it's not a huge issue for me.

Re: Erfworld thread IV: In memory of King Saline
Webcomics is a service industry now???
Perhaps a stronger point is that the comic going up on Friday is supposed to be done before Friday, not on Friday. At least, typically.
I think the thing that is very bothersome is the Kickstarter implied David was running a professional team of artists, and that's clearly not the case. It's not a big deal, but it's annoying that it was misrepresented.

At least they're keeping us in the loop now, which is a huge improvement over the way things were before.

Re: Erfworld thread IV: In memory of King Saline
What if the head instead demands that invaders present it with golden pendants in order to not be ejected from the city?

SpoilerLooks like Sizmore was right, but also wrong. The tower is something much more, but I can't figure it out yet. And wait until you see the Tool's new Office.Member of the Giants in the Playground Forum Chapter for the Movement to Reunite Gondwana!

Re: Erfworld thread IV: In memory of King Saline
SpoilerWell, that told us exactly nothing.
Except, I suppose, that whatever the tower does is important. Else it wouldn't be dramatically suitable to keep stringing us along like this.
