So, I looked at panel 5 of this page and I read "Dianrhea." Really, my eyes have a strange taste in jokes.

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
His last chance as far as he knows. But, he knows the diamond is needed for the process, and he has no more love for Sirleck's kind than the Immortals do. If hhe were to learn about a 'human' with the investigational skills needed to learn that Adrian is half-immortal (something that should be next to impossible to learn, given how few people even know Immortals exist), it is entirely possible he would decide to go to that human too seek aid instead (Abner in this case, who would probably quickly point him to Volty)

The Diamond isn't needed, at least not anymore. What's needed is for Ellen to Zapp Elliot in Magus's presence.

I wonder if the end goal is Magus basically reincarnates as a Female copy of Elliot? So if this had happened the first time, it would have been Magus reborn instead of Ellen being born.

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
Maybe female, maybe not. I think the process has seemed fairly evident for a while - Ellen blasts Elliot through Magus. Magus somehow gets pushed into, and possesses, Elliot. Magus-in-Elliot goes to touch the diamond, splitting off into his own body. Whether the body is female depends on two things: Do the possession and the ka-girl count as different enchantments, and does the diamond split multiple enchantments into multiple new bodies?
Alternately, he could just get a second zap to undo the transformation.

And the sad part of the whole mess is that if Magus could somehow communicate with Ellen and Elliot they would help him in a heartbeat. But the only beings that can see and interact with him that he knows of are horribly manipulative and untrustworthy. (Yes, I include the French Immortals in that statement)

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
Oh wow this is going to be a mess. Plan CM indeed.
I am actually curious how he plans to "Rain hell" down on Moperville with money. Mercenaries and other monsters seem possible if he wants to just overwhelm Adrian and the French Immortals but that doesn't seem like raining hell down on the city so much.
Sending monsters to attack all over the city and just cause mass havoc seems like it would work but would also be reaaally risky as it would more than likely bring a ton of immortals in and hunting for him (Or at least searching for who is messing with their sandbox world).
Still glad to see the Magus plotline progressingAwesome Avatar by Derjuin

Do we know what Sirleck wants? It's something to do with Elliot, apparently, but I can't remember what we've been told before.
I assume that Pandoria giving magic to a bunch of people will become plot relevant if there are a bunch of monsters running around.

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
Sirleck doesn't want anything with Elliot.
Magus however, needs Elliot as part of his plan to get a body.
Sirleck is helping Magus, and it's implied to be planning to body jack the wizard who'll owe him a favor once said Wizard gets his body back.Last edited by Rater202; 2016-05-16 at 09:36 AM.

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
Sirleck wants a new body to possess, and he wants it to be someone where the person going missing won't draw any attention. Magus, being a refugee from another world that nearly no one even knows exists, is the perfect ideal candidate - if only he had a body. Sirleck is therefore helping Magus get a body back, so that Sirleck can then take it over, and Magus' plan for getting a body involves Elliot.

The silhouette made me think of Noriko more than anyone else. Especially given the following panel.

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
Spoiler: Counter ArgumentThe silhouette has Susan's hair and body type. Susan has an affinity to magically created weapons, which the silhouette is using.
Noriko, being a monster hunter and a confirmed Wizard, probably knows weapon conjuring spells(Since aberrations are weak to them), but the silhouette looks like Susan.
We did not, in fact, have this recap last time.
We had a couple of questions on specific magical effects, but we did not get a recap on how magic and spells in general work.Last edited by Rater202; 2016-05-25 at 07:49 PM.

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
There's no "probably" about it, the Noriko silhouette in Grey Wolf's screenshot is also using conjured weapons. In fact, it pretty much looks like the exact same spell that the silhouette in today's Q&A is using (multiple swords, apparently moving telepathically). The hair is also very similar.

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
...okay, let me restate my point. I think my phrasing was unclear.
SpoilerMy initial point is that the silhouette in today's strip looks exactly like Susan. As the silhouette is in the panel talking about Wizards, it is thus a safe prediction that it will be revealed that Susan is a Wizard.
Grey Wolf than says that he is more remind of the Noriko Silhouette.
Let's compare Noriko silhouette to the comic strip where we've actually seen Noriko The hair looks the same.
Now, lets compare them to Today's silhouette. It um, the only points of similarity between todays image and Noriko's is the swords, and that can be explaine dby the fact, that as a Monster Hunter and Wizard, she in all probability would have sword conjuring spells. That's my point. I'm not saying that there's a possibility that she doesn't, I'm saying that a monster hunter who is also a wizard probably has magic sword spells.
Meanwhile, the Silhouette in today's strip has the swords, yes, but it also has Susan's figure and Susan's hair.
While the swords are held in common with Noriko's image, Susan is confirmed to have an affinity eith magical weapon spells.
So, the silhouette is probably meant to look like Susan.
Which thus, leads to the possibility that Susan is a wizard, which was my original point.
This is also assuming that "floating magic swords" isn't some kind of in universe shorthand for "wizard" or "vampire slayer," in which case well, it looks like Susan more than it looks like Noriko
Okay, turns out I was wrong. I admit it.Last edited by Rater202; 2016-05-26 at 11:29 AM.

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
Absolutely agreed.
SpoilerNoriko is a professional monster hunter - as in, monster hunting defines her lifestyle. We're not talking Justin, who just shows up and kicks monsters into rivers and streets because he's there and wants to help. A major subset of monsters, the "vampire" aberrations, are so vulnerable to conjured weaponry that they intentionally hunt down anyone they find with a talent for it, regardless of their status as a mage. Both Susan and Diane have been singled out for this reason, with Tara point blank saying she has the potential to be a vampire hunter. As a wizard, there would be no way on Earth that Noriko wouldn't seek out several spells that exploit this weakness on one of the more active and insidious classes of monster around.
Susan could definitely be a wizard. It would work well for her, I think, given her character. Driven, passionate, imaginative, intelligent, and adaptable. Only Sarah is a better candidate, but that's more because she's a late bloomer than because she's got the stats. Even if Susan was just a mage, however, she is a mage with an innate talent for conjuration, a tendency for passion that only shows when it's built up to much for her to contain it, and a drama queen personality that prefers big, intimidating gestures over ruthless efficiency. Wizard or mage, that kind of spell is perfectly in keeping with her character.
I do think that is Susan. It's not Diane's style: Diane is aggressive while Susan is menacing, if you follow the distinction. Diane would have the weapons in front of her, indicating that you should focus on them, while Susan would have them behind her to suggest she'd rather you focus on her (i.e. conversation before combat). Add to that the fact that the examples shown are all circle kids, Occam's razor would state that if the wizard example could believably be a circle kid, it probably is one.
Of course, if Occam's Razor has one arch-nemesis, it's Twitter. Oh, well.Last edited by Calemyr; 2016-05-26 at 11:45 AM.

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
SpoilerDoesn't mean that Susan isn't a Wizard-all Dan's sid in various tweets is that it's not Susan.
I figure somebody in the main cast, will turn out to be Wizards. Just regular magic isn't special anymore. Grace is the only one without spells, and that's because her magic isn't compatible with spell magic-she's got plenty of magic in her chimera transformation way.
Considering that Tedd isn't supposed to be able to cast spells and got one anyway, I don't think we can count Grace getting spells out of the running just yet.
Although, I'm kind of wondering is Noriko's silhouette isn't foreshadowing that she'll make an appearance soon?I also answer to Bookmark and Shadow Claw.

Re: El Goonish Shive III - Totally Adorkable!
This page seems to imply something about Susan, but I don't know what. Could Susan really be Raven's great(-great)^x niece? Maybe when Raven thinks of a human female with great magical power he thinks of Susan? Maybe there is a connection between Noah and Susan? Both have slender builds and Noah was orphaned and we don't know who Susan's parents are.
I thought I remembered something that indicated that Susan looked surprisingly similar to Noriko and was unsuccessfully looking for it. Now I think it's more likely that I misremembered the page with Grace or something involving Dianne, but does anyone else remember anything? I think we can say they have similar silhouettes at least. Could that be significant?
Unfortunately, even if it is foreshadowing, would it be resolved quickly?Last edited by eschmenk; 2016-05-26 at 03:57 PM.
