Re: The Democracy Demon's Devilishly Devious and Decidedly Diabolical Random Banter #
After three hours of swearing on the life of my favourite authour that it was Sunday I was surprised when Mum actually insisted that it was Monday.
Fine.
I accept that.
Now I need to find out the date.

7 - 21 - 2008? Is it not in the lower right hand of your computer?

Day-Month-Year seems more sensible to me...
Also, I spilt the shreddies down myself and all over the floor. So I've had to shower again and now my toast is cold. Conspiracy.

Re: The Democracy Demon's Devilishly Devious and Decidedly Diabolical Random Banter #
Curly, considering weīre in the same time zone. Itīs monday.
There was yesterday and the day before that was Mystic Fair, which I went to. Mystic fair was on saturday.(Well, saturday and sunday, but I only went on saturday). Thus the day after Mystic Fair was sunday and thus now itīs monday. Plus, my brother went to work this morning. Meaning that itīs a week day and not weekend.
So now you must kill Terry Pratchett?
+ my pc says itīs monday, 21st of july, 2008.
But only if I hold my mouse over the time. If I donīt, itīl just say that itīs 13:19.

Re: The Democracy Demon's Devilishly Devious and Decidedly Diabolical Random Banter #
I believe, but not positive, it is a shortening - a removal of "of".
That is, we do not say "3rd of February" (and 3rd February would sound strange), rather, we say "February 3rd".
Year was tacked on to the end.
Also, you must remember that not even DD/MM/YYYY (I don't like YY, there are 4 numbers there, and the turn of the century -can- happen in your lifetime a second time! ) isn't even always correct in a lot of countries where it is in a 'proper' order. A lot of east asian countries use YYYY/MM/DD.
Also, I just realized I said "lower right" of computer screen by instinct, even though for me it is the lower left of the computer screen and has been that way for a rather long time...
Back to the point, are you saying that your computer has no time format anywhere apparent?Avatar by Alarra

In refgards to dates being written differently, I think it's mainly down to cultural preferences. What made you think it was a Sunday?

In the bottom right corner it tells me the time. Right now it's 12:48. No day/month/year.

Cool.
But I still believe that once you're on summer holiday (or any other) you forget things like days and dates.
I know for a fact that last year for about a week we thought it was July when it had been August for a good five or six days.

I've been on tour before, you know. When I was with Snori Snoriscousin And His Brass Idiots. Every night a different bed. You forget what day of the week it is after a while.
What day of the week is it now?
See? And we've only bee on the road . . . what . . . three hours?Last edited by Player_Zero; 2008-07-21 at 07:05 AM.

Soul Music - Terry Pratchett.
And I love that book. "Are you sure you're not elvish?"
It also perfectly displays my point.
EDIT: Given enough time I think I could even tell you the page number.Last edited by CurlyKitGirl; 2008-07-21 at 07:08 AM.

I don't really think I need it... 269-270
Paperback that is. Also, I've lost the front cover and couple of pages. It really is most upsetting.Last edited by Player_Zero; 2008-07-21 at 07:12 AM.

Re: The Democracy Demon's Devilishly Devious and Decidedly Diabolical Random Banter #
Ouch. Front or back pages?
Fron't not as bad. And the cover depends. What'd be really good as a front cover would be DEATH playing the guitar.

Re: The Democracy Demon's Devilishly Devious and Decidedly Diabolical Random Banter #
How about death on that motorcycle? Or would that look too much like ghost rider?
Furthermore, I don't think I have ever not known which day of the week it is, but I frequently don't care about month or day of the month.
And my neighbor is making a racket by pounding rocks together so I can't get back to sleep. Any suggestions?

Re: The Democracy Demon's Devilishly Devious and Decidedly Diabolical Random Banter #
Would sorta' be a spoiler though.
I'm missing the front cover and page at the front which tells you about the previous story, how DEATH had a granddaughter an' that. The front cover wasn't amazing anyway... The artwork has a certain style, but it doesn't really fit the book. But I've got the first scene in the Ramtops though so should I ever care to read it for the bazillionth time then I wouldn't have any particular problem.
...I have no clothes to wear... Much too shreddy-dirtied... This is a problem.

So P_Z? Just go in the nude! I don't know about you, but that's what I do, should I run out of clothes. I don't have to be embarrased, everyone who sees me goes blind for some reason. Maybe I'm radioactive?

Nude you say? Interesting... I think people who saw me might go blind as well. Blind due to seeing perfection itself.
Which reminds me, the moon stopped me from sleeping again last night. Damn creepy moon... Watching me sleep...

Re: The Democracy Demon's Devilishly Devious and Decidedly Diabolical Random Banter #
My brother always used to say that there were in fact eight different days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Holiday. Holiday has no specific place in the week, it just appears repeatedly during summer holidays when you have no regular events to use as points of reference for what day of the week it is.

Re: The Democracy Demon's Devilishly Devious and Decidedly Diabolical Random Banter #
Beloved forums!
*kneels down and kisses the playground*
Sorry....don't know what came over me...
Anyhow, I am now back from my trip to Paris. We took in the Eiffel Tower, La Louvre, Notre Dame, La Obelisque, and many other places, and at some point I may even get a photo or two uploaded, though I somehow doubt it. We also went to the Arc de Triomphe, as it was like 150 yards from our hotel, and interesting things happened there.
It seems that when I got there it was rather quiet and that their was a rather spiffy sunset from where I sat down. It also turned out I had a ring in my pocket. A proposal later....
Banjo is engaged!
As you can tell he's rather happy about it.

This is the part where I, as one of the married folk on the playground, usually makes some wise-acre remark about that being the worst decision of your life.
However, it is a quarter 'til 8 in the morning, Monday, and despite me having this Monday off, I'm too tired.
Congrats, my English counterpart.
