Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
I don't think there's anything anyone could do that'd stop Marena being pretty. Or Secret being kyoot, but hey.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Maybe not, but I'd still hit it
It's kind of funny how the comic keeps conspiring to make all their powers useless in the grand scheme, or at least presents them with a situation where only one of their power sets is truly useful. Secret doesn't get hit with this too often, but she seems to have some defeatist tendencies that keep her power level in check unless she's convinced she's got the upper hand. Even though everyone has explode-y super powers, it's nice to see that diplomacy and guile are still the best options for the most part. That's probably why I like the comic as much as I do.Originally Posted by Gort, Lord of Hellfire

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
So that's what he's been working on! Good thing, or there would have been no explanation for how they could feasibly get across the Blessed Isle. Phew!
Bluh, exposition comics. Need to try and avoid pages like this in future.
Honestly, a lack of pages like this tends to be a detriment in my opinion. There's too much that the characters know that they don't talk about because they all know it already. Things like where they're going, what they plan to do when they get there, and what's at stake if they suffer a setback or failure.
Exposition is incredibly important to a story. It lets you know what is going on so you know what to feel about it. It also illuminates the actions of the characters because you know why they're doing what they do, or you can make predictions based on what we know about them.
Exposition is a tool, don't forsake it entirely.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
...they all have arms now. Including Ten Winds!
Of course! Ten Winds is actually Divis Mal!
Also, back to the main topic -- so, wait, he invented bracelets that conceal their animas... and, as a (ahem) side-effect, prevent them from accessing peripheral Essence?
Sneaky. (For those who don't know the rules to Exalted - your anima becomes visible only when you spend peripheral Essence.)Last edited by Aquillion; 2010-09-22 at 10:11 PM.

As demonstrated by the cyborg guards from Nova's blasphemous Alchemical Exalted haven city and their ability to see through disguises without any save.

So it makes sense the party having no save, now doesn't it? This not being D&D and all

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
My personal favorite charm of all time is the lunar charm "Eye of the Cat."
If (and only if) it is completely impossible for the lunar to see something (as in "does not allow a roll") the lunar sees it perfectly and automatically.
I wonder how that would work with a blind lunar.

Re: Keychain of Creation IV: The Lore Thing
Yeh, it's a bit of a misnomer. Dodge MDV is really more like Resistance; you simply ignore the argument because you are steadfast in your own belief.
One thing that I thought about a bit, do we actually know that Secret's name ends with the word "Dead?" I've looked but can't find it in the comic. It it just fanon?
Edit: Also comment on the new page.
Haha, Marena dolphin. And Ten looks kind of unfazed. "Floodwave. Huh."Last edited by Weimann; 2010-09-24 at 03:26 AM.
