Re: Number of Character Appearances III
Nitpick of the day: there are two entries for "Lizardfolk Gladiator", in the 2 & 3 appearances lists, both pointing toward strip #744.
Spoiler
DM: At the end of the meal, the innkeeper is bringing you the cheese plate. Roll for initiative.
PC: Excuse me, what?
DM: I said, roll for initiative. They like their cheese really ripe in these parts. They have the ooze type.

Blackwing, Durkon Thundershield, Elan, Empress of Blood, Gourntonk, Haley Starshine, Polozius, Tarquin, VaarsuviusI'm adding "Elf Ambassador Person" because it is capitalized like a nickname. I'm also pretty sure this will be a recurring character.Last edited by Wrecan; 2010-10-25 at 08:16 AM.

Re: Number of Character Appearances III
Now that Haley has re-grown her hair should a 'Haley with short hair' be added to the Other interesting alterations -section?
Alamryn Kven, a druid who tries very hard not to be useless.
Celesta Halla, a fearless barbarian.
Jheren Falconer, a drifter ranger.

Re: Number of Character Appearances III
Not a bad idea. I count sixty-seven, with a +4 and a +5.
Could possibly add two appearances for Haley with magically over-long hair, too.
I'd argue that since it was enforced on her, and she jumped at the chance to change back, then it's different. But then I just counted through over a hundred strips, so I would say that.Last edited by Nimrod's Son; 2010-10-25 at 08:26 AM.

By the way, the lizardfolk guard at the Palace's entrance might be the same as in #717.

Re: Number of Character Appearances III
The people on the "Rend" float are the characters from the musical "Rent" with D&D equipment: Tom Collins, Roger Davis, Mimi Márquez, and Mark Cohen. (I had to Wikipedia their last names, but I recognized them immediately.)

Re: Number of Character Appearances III
Are you really going to count Bluddy? It's not a living being, after all. That's techniclly like counting the throne in Azure City.

Re: Number of Character Appearances III
You're right. Even though we accepted Banjo, we didn't accept the other puppets, Elan has produced. Until we know Bloody is a representation of an actual creature, he's out. Which means the Sanguine Street characters are out as well.
before I delete them, let's let others discuss whether they should be included after all, and why.Last edited by Wrecan; 2010-11-03 at 02:27 PM.

Re: Number of Character Appearances III
Wait, we didn't accept Giggles? Why not?
I vote that we include all named characters, even if they are fictional in-universe.

Re: Number of Character Appearances III
I use cyan when I'm being ambivalent, greenish grey when I'm mostly serious, but with a hint of sarcasm, purple when I'm flirting with you, blue when I go colourblind, and light green when I'm twice as ambivalent as when I use cyan.

Re: Number of Character Appearances III
And we welcome Tarquin into the 30 (well, 32) top list! He'll sure rise to the top quick.
I agree with the inclusion of mascots and other in-universe fictional character. Especially considering how belief is shaping the OOTS world, they can easily become deified in some way.
BTW, not my intent to insist but I think we can add the Lizardfolk Palace Door Guard from #717 and #754 in the two-appearances list; the design and color of the character clearly show it's supposed to be the same.Spoiler

I don't know whether Haley with short hair should count, but the Godiva/Rapunzel hair should be listed as a magical alteration.

Re: Number of Character Appearances III
I disagree. A lot of time passed between the two strips. Those guards could be any lizardfolk in uniform.
I don't think the extended hair makes sense to include. The transformation was instantaneous, and then it was mundane, if long, hair. Technically, that hair is still in the strip, as long as Haley's hair is longer than the cut Crystal gave her (at least until it would have naturally grown to that length)Here is a numbering of all character appearances in OOTS
