Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
So, with the prom time coming near, we awesome people of the Playground (and Shadow) should probably have another prom. With a new theme and new bands and everything.
We're taking suggestions as to how it should be, as well as applicants on supervising the thing (because gods now I can't do it myself).

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
Gods, must we? The whole thing was difficult to organize due to timezones, and I found it not particularly enjoyable. It seemed like if you weren't a regular in free form roleplaying you were hardly welcome.

We don't have to. But we should (mostly cause I already have a date).

If it happens again, make it longer. I live on the west coast so the last prom started on Thursday afternoon and ended before I could join. What timezone was that anyway?

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
Well, the "law" about freeform roleplaying is one of the suggestions you can offer (don't look at me, I'm just here to spike the punch).
Also, I was thinking the prom would last... fifty threads or until everyone leaves the place (what you do afterwards is your own business).

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
Here's a plan! Let's not clog up FFRP with it; so that the FFRPers who are sad and lonely don't have to watch it... realistically clog up their board, and so that there can't be any fuss over FFRP characters!
Whee.
I'll go back to being sad and alone now. You may prod me with cheese-straws if necessary.
EDIT: Wow, that came off sour. Nah, but seriously, the timezones were hellish (so that I did end up sad and alone), and the FFRP-confusion annoyed some and confused others.

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
Why is this thread in ffrp? I thought you didn't want roleplaying happening in the next prom?
If everyone is supposed to be themselves and not a character, then this should go back to friendly banter. My avatar! Isn't it just utterly diabolical? Ashen Lilies made it!

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
I wasn't involved in the first one, so I'm kind of wondering what all happened that made the last one so bad. Maybe we could fix what went wrong.
I get the feeling people playing as their characters instead of themselves was one thing.

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
all the acro organizations saw their opposition there, so they where all like
"omg! look! its an unprotected member of [insert oppsing organization here]! lets hold and epic fight just 'cause we're supposed to be dancing and having fun instead!"
and then they all pulled out their magic stuff and their butterfly knives and whatnot and started beating the sh*t out of eachother.avvie by Sneak

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
It was moved into FFRP, which confused the freeform roleplayers, which further infuriated non-FFRPers.
Also, some people couldn't take a joke and wanted their prom to be srs businazz.
Timezones, not being long enough, being too long, not having the people they wanted show up, prom dates not showing up, being relatively boring, etc.

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
And the other people reacted like this.
Look, I'll just point some things out: First, the Playground Prom is inevitably Freeform RP.
Second, to put it bluntly, some people clearly didn't want US in it, but if you're trying to start a party which will take place in FFRP you can't expect the FFRP people not to join.Last edited by Haruki-kun; 2009-05-27 at 11:50 PM.

the other dudes where all like
"DUDE! stop fighting! stop! dammit! i said- DAMMIT! don't make me taze you! don't- IMMAFRIGGINKILLYOU!"
and some guy went and spiked the punch so everyone started beating the sh*t out of everyone while like one couple was dancing with gun shots and arrows flying past their ears...avvie by Sneak

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
Ah. Ok.
Well, I do like the concept. Maybe if we work on it a little before we go ahead with it, we can solve some of these problems and make it good for everybody.

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
A few points to consider
1. Last time we had a lot of unhealthy arguements about dates and the like. I believe this time, if you are set on holding another event, it would be wise to do away with "dates" and the "prom" ideas. Instead, I suggest holding a general "dance" event, or a "rave" if you like that term. Having a theme and a party and dancing still sounds fun though.
2. It's not yet been a year since we had the last prom, which was the full moon of November.
3. Last time I repeatedly told people to come as "themselves", not Town characters. It was also going to be hosted in Friendly Banter. Since it got mod-moved to Town instead, every one got confused instead.
At any rate, if you do decide to hold such an event, I may or may not attend. I will watch the topic, however.Last edited by Felixaar; 2009-05-28 at 03:05 AM.

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
I understand the confusion, but you really couldn't expect it to stay where it was. It was a Role-Playing thread. It belongs in the Role-Playing Forum.
That, and to be completely honest, the FFRP regulars felt like the Friendly Banter regulars didn't even want them there, considering how they immediately rejected their characters. Maybe some people don't want to be "themselves" on the Internet, in a Free Form Role Playing Forum.

This seems like a generally good idea that was ruined by people who had no idea what it was. Can't you just put a big post in big, bold, neon red letters saying:
This thread is not for any kind of character, only... Um.. Not characters. Yeah.
Hopefully it will be worded better than that. I iz no artikulat.Avatar by Beans.

Re: Prom in the Playground, Number 2, Scene 2, Take 2, Version 2
Better yet, since it's going to be including all these new rules that have to be so strictly adhered to, put it here, and leave the good people of FFR alone. Your complaints were made perfectly clear last time, no need to point fingers again over something that's ancient history by forum standards.
