Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
I have no idea about the first two, but the third is Cirno the ice fairy, from a series of top-down shooter games called Touhou. Cirno is the strongest.
There are some fun variations on this meme. One of my favourite variations is to do it from the GM's perspective: What I Planned, What They Expected, What We Played. Observe:

Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
I'll make one with pictures when I have more time, but for now-
What I Made: A young naive monk out to explore the world.
What the DM Saw: A stick-up-the-arse paladin without the spells or magic horse.
What I Played: The only thing standing between the other 4 PCs (3 chaoticly aligned, 1 nuetral) and an entire town of burning buildings and looted corpses.

Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
A man who dies fighting with his principles intact dies in glory. To expect enemies to follow the same code of honor defiles that honor, reducing it to a set of arbitrary rules.

Spoiler
I build a gentleman adventurer in GURPS, get completely overshadowed by the two munchkins in the party who put all their points into "hit things damn hard" and "wait an hour for me to Modular up the win button", and the DM is under the impression that a character who doesnt show emotion doesnt have it.

Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
I know that character. Basically, he made what supposed to be an unlikable smelly nietzche wannabe with powered armor. Except it's a girl, so people like it.... a bit too much (you can imagine yourself). At the end he just play her as tekkaman (which isn't a mech, but a series about alien powered armor) and beat people up.
Here's mine.

Really, should've expected an all-girl team. Read or Die is awesome though.
And another oneSpoiler

Really, I expected maybe half robot fighting and half investigation. Turned out that in our whole game, there might be five combat scene in total, and only half of it involves robot.Last edited by Fri; 2012-01-03 at 09:26 AM.

Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
A person who doesn't know where these pics came from may indeed be confused. Here's an explanation.
SpoilerWhat I made - Rorschach from Watchmen. An antisocial paranoid hobo with superhuman ability, questionable logic, worse people skills and a Nietzschean "me vs the world of sheeple" attitude.
What the DM/other players saw - Fate from Nanoha. Lonely and unhappy girl (yes the character in question is female) who was suffering all life for no fault of her own. Someone to be comforted and befriended. Also, blonde. Also, lesbian shipping fuel with a red-headed friend.
What I played - Tekkaman Blade from, well, Tekkaman Blade. Armored transforming hero with a single-minded dedication to defeating a monstrous enemy group, and general lack of caring about everything else. Very asocial but gets (slightly) better due to influence of kind friends (and possibly-more-than-friends). In short, something between the two above.Last edited by tensai_oni; 2012-01-03 at 10:00 AM.

Re: What I Made, What the GM Saw, What I Played
Why only have ONE double bladed lightsaber when you can have TWO.
Also: Bombing both the Jedi AND the Sith temples does not equate to living a long life.78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. If you're one of the 22% that didn't, copy and paste this into your signature.
Where did you start yours?
