I don't see how. With loads of players, you're less likely to be targeted, and this game has no weird and confusing roles to worry about. Just the standard, basic rules. It's one of the best games to start with.

Maybe if I didn't plan on RP'ing Hugh Mann, a hirsute barber (shaving a specialty) with an unfortunate overbite and lisp.

Settling in quite nicely. Shame the natives decided not to stick around, after all they know the land very well and seemed rather friendly – they could’ve helped us. It’s not as though there’s anyone else around to offer help. No-one for miles around – indeed one might say I am now Miles away from anywhere! Haha. But they seemed too worried about these evil spirits they thought we’d be waking up and angering or something. Damned ridiculous superstition, but there you have it. We shall manage without, I’m sure. And soon enough the colony will grow in size, plenty of successful enterprises to be set up. I have a good feeling about this place.
Missing Caroline and the children, of course, but I’m sure it won’t be too long before we can have them join me out here. I’ll write her a letter for our suppliers to take back and send.

Small altercation in the square at roughly 8pm. One man claimed he’d seen another sneaking around outside his house last night, accused him of being some kind of monster, and all sorts of ridiculous things. Seemed to have some sort of fixation about the other man’s hair. It’s true it was a little long, and his beard was a little on the unkempt side, but nothing to provoke serious remark, especially in the current circumstances, everyone new to the place, not quite settled into a routine yet, etc. Feared the accuser might become violent but a couple of his friends calmed him down and they departed together. Possible the accuser may have been drunk, though this has not been confirmed.

Some of the civilians seem to have gotten a bit over-excited with these rumours about the evil spirits the natives were scared of. Wonderful fanciful stuff, like some mystical plant that repels them, and some sort of psychic abilities used to identify when people are possessed or whatever. All terrific material for me to use when I tell the story to the children, of course. Speaking of which, everything being pretty well sorted here, I’ll send a message back home asking Caroline to come out and visit me. Not sure about completely uprooting the family straight away, but a visit, certainly, now that everything’s running smoothly (Which it is – the worst we’ve had is having to discipline a few soldiers for being lax about shaving. They claimed they had shaved and it simply grew back quicker than normal, young scallywags that they are).

Something very strange has happened, sir. The man who was accused of being a monster turned out to actually be one. Some sort of wolf-man-thing. We dispatched him in short order, but he said something about others. Orders sir?

Don’t mean to trouble you sir, but this does seem to be a rather urgent matter. The wolf-man, before he died, called out to his ‘brethren’. Now we’re hearing this unearthly howling, and frankly sir, we’re but one small surprise away from sheer bloody panic, sir.

The second runner I sent down to Lieutenant-Colonel Miles was instructed to deliver the note directly to his hands and wait for a reply. He reports that a frenzied knocking on the door caused it to open a crack, and a quick examination revealed it had already been forced, and then simply barricaded from the inside, the lock being broken. The runner returned to get help. On forcing our way in, we found clear evidence of a fight – blood stains and broken furniture. We also found the bodies of a few soldiers we’d disciplined for lax shaving a few days previously, now transformed into wolf-men like the one we’d dealt with in the main square. There was no sign of Lieutenant-Colonel Miles, save only a hurriedly scribbled note (Attached), the instructions of which we have followed.
The remote location of the colony means this problem is unlikely to spread. It also means there is no help to be had. I can only pray we succeed in rooting out the werewolves, before they murder us all...

Werewolves! Hard to believe, but true. Wager this what the natives meant. Killed some, but there are more. Barricaded door, but fear it won’t be enough. Injured.
If note found, quarantine settlement. Absolutely imperative. Mustn’t let this spread. Let no-one leave, let no-one enter. Warn everyone away. Especially my family.
My wife/family, coming to visit. Don’t let them get here. Must keep them safe.
Wolves on roof. Tell Caroline that no matter what happens, I love her more than life itself. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS.
