Throwing her hands down at her sides, Nuts looks to Mithril for help when it becomes clear that Mirian's okay with this. It's not that Shiny charmed the kobold so much as he did it in the middle of a conversation.

While waiting to see the effect the spell has on the kobold, Shiny looks over his shoulder at Natalia. "Neither, actually. It was a freak accident involving a lightning storm, a dwarven card game, and a truckload of dragon meat."

Mithril spoke up at hearing Shiny's newest tale. "Natalia, don't worry. I am mostly sure that he is lying, although magic can be strange....

Natalia's stunned silenc0e, where she's not quite sure whether to say something or start laughing, ends as she nods and says, "Thank you," to Mithril's explanation. So that explained it. Shiny was probably born with the magic while Mithril...

"You struggled for the magic," she says. "Worked for it and made it your own. You're amazing."

Mithril laughed, "Not so much, I was tutored and learned mostly from my teacher, but only because I turned my brother green after learning how from some books. It didn't come as naturally for me, but I didn't struggle. I guess Boccob decided to bless me." Even though Mithril spoke jokingly about her magic, she realized that she had never really thought about it. She knew the spells alright, she had worked hard to learn them, but was she born with magic? She had always been inquisitive, but that didn't explain it. She spoke again hesitantly, "I don't think I really know...."

"Maybe not quite struggled," she says sheepishly. "...Green? Like your shirt?"

"As in, with envy." Kurt shrugs a little. "You have to be careful making people jealous. Can make them...rash." Subsiding again after a moment.

In any case, somehow Natalia gets the rope off the kobold (if the charm doesn't work, she has another person restrain the captive), ties both ropes together, ties one end around the bridge, and lets the other end fall to the ground.
