Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Y'mean me?
'Cause, y'know, Curly/Koorly/Koorli/CKG's better. And I can't stand D. H. Lawrence, but we're doing him for A2 coursework.
Speaking of which; this month I'll be starting/doing the following:
- my second (and final) E Lang coursework (1 000 words)
- my second (and final) French coursework (2 000 words)
- my Medieval History coursework (2 250 words I think)
- my E Lit coursework (2 000 words)
- my Classics coursework (2 000 words)
That's 9 250 words in total. Fortunately they all don't have be in until either the week after half term; the week before Easter holidays. Mostly.
And I intend to get Female Anime E Lit Friend an A overall for E Lit. I think she can do it easy, but she doesn't. I marked her King Lear practice essay for her resit today and (although I didn't have the markscheme) I'm fairly certain she got a middling B minimum.
Borrowing mine and Other Female Anime E Lit Friends' Lear notes must've helped some. She had a sucky teacher.
Bathatar!
Squid bones are lies.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Right.
What is this essay about?
Done historical context? that's about another 100, minimum. More if you contrast it with contemporary context.
Whilst on the context-train, throw in authorial is it's relevant.
Of course, link all this to the overlying theme and the question.
Any more detail with me that I might be able to assist with?
*Good-luck high-fiiiive*
Also, lady CK, I feel the pain of cursework. We're doing ours in the next coupleof months. I'm pretty confident (Got an A in my mock, if I can dig it out i'll send it to you, if you like), but also got a human bio. exam tomorrow, which i am going to FAIL.Last edited by Lyesmith; 2009-01-07 at 04:48 PM.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
I know.
Essays....
SIGH. I don't have ANY classes that require proper essays this year. I LIKE classes with essays. Though I suppose it is a good thing I don't have any, because I can't find the installation disks for MS Word...only it means I haven't gotten any writing done today....
And I still have three scholarship essays left to finish.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
I doubt I can beat that but here goes nothing.
Things to do.
- Finish History Coursework part 2 (Britain and the Western Front)
- Science exam on the 19th of Jan (Must get A*/A+ Grade)
- Finish Drama performance with the "Idiot group" by 20th Jan (Must get B Grade)
- Revise for Maths Exam on 9th March. (Must get an A Grade or higher)
- Work on Poetry for English Literature for god knows when.
- Continue Coursework for Drama (Finish by 30th Jan)
- Lose a bit of weight (Too much Cushion for the pushing)
- French practice exams in the next three weeks. (Must try and get a C/B Grade)
- Somehow manage to find free time to post here. (How do I do it?)
- Main period of Exams starts Mid to Late April, finishes in June. (Get as good grades as I can)
- Somehow keep on top of two ongoing Computer Projects at school (Luckily one is already finished) (Must get A grades in both)
God that is a long list.
Good luck Curly. I hope you do well.Last edited by Fredthefighter; 2009-01-07 at 04:52 PM.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
Oh man, Drama. Drama is such a joke.
You can suck ass at performing (I had semi-crap groups both times but i still got C's in both, so was happy enough) but redeem with written, which saved my bacon.
Helps if you like it (I hated 3 of my 4 option subjects. Guess how many GCSE's I failed to get above a C in? 4, actually, but ICT was borked and thus does not count)
EDIT : I need to stop refreshing RB and do more revision.Last edited by Lyesmith; 2009-01-07 at 04:58 PM.

My favoritest class is writing, which I took last year.
I finished the course with a 97%. They wouldn't LET me take it again even if I had the time in my schedule.
This year...psychology so far has very little essay, and Spanish I enjoy because of verb conjugation (no joke). Chemistry is meh (though I enjoy organizing my notes. That's...pretty much all).

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
All of my subjects are essay based. I guess if I was forced to list them in order of preference it'd be:
E Lit/E Lang/Classics > Medieval History > French
Oh, and I see you're now offering advice and help for an A2 student. Good for you! (This really isn't sarcastic by the way, it'll prolly just sound like it, apoloagies (cookie for the reference)) And I'd love to read the essay if you want me to.

HA! You poor soul! You're doing Hume! Aren't all his theories on that in that book of his easily disproved?
I swear they are because many of my Classics friends do Philosophy. Or Archaeology. Or Psychology.

I was thinking of starting a Nintendo Wi-fi club/thread in the gaming forum, because I've recently started going online on my DS. Do you guys think it's worth it?
EDIT: I've been told to make my Film coursework/essay shorter because it's too detailed, I also got 28/30 marks, yay!!!

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
To be fair we've had more essays for Human Bio than Psych, but I suck at human bio, so there is bias. I've only done one general studies essay (Because it was for the head of year who is a tiny psychotic manchild, and I cbf with the hassle) out of five. Doing that was kinda fun, because I made the lexis, syntax and imagery (Yes. Metaphor and imagery in an essay about polotics. Along with obscure references to pop-culture and myth) as complex as I could do. Which was pretty complex.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
From what Google told me, there are situations where one cannot be substituted for the other. I've of course found this out f'realz with lime [meringue] pie... apparently if you mix an acid (lime here), with condensed milk it'll thicken, whereas evaporated won't.
Oh blargh. >>

In completely unrelated news, I learned that people can actualy be moderately emphatic today.
Which I find funny, because I spent 30 minutes last afternoon arguing how people are selfish, annoying bastards.
Oh, and the cat just chewed through my third Ipod ear-phone cord in as many weeks.

@Ego: I can see that being a bit of inconvenient. My strongest memories of both are a kind of very sweet cube compressed from a tin of [insert variety] milk dessecrated (we found that funny as kids) coconut, honey and egg white I think.
@ All those who are studying: Hope that you all do well, from the sound of it you are mostly working your socks off so deserve to.
I am applying to study programming at uni this year after a fifteen year hiatus in academic learning. The prospect is slightly daunting, although I am sure that my increased maturity will help me.Last edited by eidreff; 2009-01-07 at 05:16 PM.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
What did you do?
The trick is, one is so so tasty to eat with a spoon and the other is just weird milk, but I can't remember which.
Also, getting my predicted grades today. A/B in maths (Homework is C, tests are B because I DON'T DO ANYTHING. I do about 2/3 of the work, so she knows I can get an A but can't say I'll get one), English A, Physics.. probably B, Human Bio A****, and chem probably at A, but maybe B.
I only need 4 Bs anyway.
And when I handed in my Uni application, my head of year was sooo pissed because I didn't get it proofread, checked or anything and I was meant to, and I only did it because I thought i didn't need it. But she can't be mad at me because it's like the best she's read this year. So nyah. I was proud.
Uni, here I come! (IF I GET OFFERS PLEASE GOD MY GRADES ARE GOOD ENOUGH SO WHY NOT)Nobody helped me in any way, shape or form with this avatar, I found it in a child's shoe.

Err, are you sure you mean emphatic? Perhaps empathetic?
Oh, and the cat just chewed through my third Ipod ear-phone cord in as many weeks.
Apparently copper tastes good to him.
I believe the former is condensed milk, but I may be wrong.
Good luck. And I'm glad to have another American...I was starting to feel a little alone.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure I'm getting straight A's right now. Which is nice. I wasn't too worried about most subjects, but some of my math tests were not so great. But now all I have to do is not completely **** up on midterms (20% of grade) and I'm done! Yay!
For this semester.

Re: TwoBitWriter's Tubular Tracts of Thought-Talking Random Banter #111
My school runs on the quarter system...so this is my winter quarter, which just started this week.
My psychology class is really annoying. Half of the information comes from the textbook, and half from video. I HATE video assignments. Firstly, it means I have to take notes and referring back is a pain. I mean, I make notes from the textbook, too, but I can study from BOTH of them.
Plus each video segment is half an hour long, and if it was just text, I could finish it in ten, fifteen minutes. And when I try to multitask during the video (which is my default movie attitude - I ALWAYS have to have something else to occupy me, whether it's crocheting a hat or watching a YouTube video while I do my homework) I end up missing stuff.
