I take back my last comment there, I bungled it. I meant to say 'evil doesn't get along', but instead I said stupid things.

It's quite possible that demons and devils allied. To look at history: the United States and the Soviet Union were pretty much enemies and opposites, right ? But in the right time, they did ally to destroy the Nazis & co.

Yeah, but they are both lawful, mostly. As did they really join together, or did they just not attack the other and attack the same guy? I suck at history.

The Chaotic demons and the Lawful devils hate each other, and neither will forgive the other enough for any alliance to occur. We took his origional statement to mean "Demons and Devils will never work together because they are evil", but what he meant was "Demons and Devils will never work together because one is lawful and the other chaotic, and they are too evil to put that aside for a common cause"

I would also like to say this: When I said 'evil doesn't make friends', I also meant 'evil generally doesn't make friends with evil, because they rarely get along'. After all, would you get along with yourself?
Please think of Asmodeous, in the Pathfinder campaign Setting. most of you probably haven't heard of it before, so here's a quick explanation:
There is a horrible killing machine coming to kill everything. It is a creature of pure death and malice, the epitome of chaos and evil. Is Asmodeous, a devil ascended to a god, Lawful Evil, going to side with it? No, because he is Lawful, despite being evil as well. Of course, he also doesn't want to die. He ends up, instead, siding with teh gods of goodness and light. Evil and Good rarely get along, and Law and Chaos rarely get along, but Chaos and Chaos and Evil and Evil rarely get along either, unless they share a common interest. Of course, Chaos finds it difficult to make alliances anyways.
Does that make sense?
