As for the +44, that was typo. As noted it should have been a simple +4 to give a Hide of 19.

I can think of ways to build a L1 character with a +32 hide, but a +44 is probably impossible without using potions of invisibility.

As it is a free action, I see no reason why somebody would willingly manifest a power with its display unless they clearly stated that they wanted to be seen/heard. While one could nitpick that it's necessary to state the intention to suppress the display, I don't think it necessary.

Edit: I just checked the appropriate listings for manifesting a power without its display, and it seems to count as a distraction, meaning that you lose the power if the check fails. Thus, a character should only attempt to manifest a power without its display if they specifically say so.

It is necessary, especially when they're attempting to hide. If they don't suppress it, it gives there opponent a much greater chance of locating them. ie, upping the listen check dramatically from 15 to 30.
And by RAW, if they don't say they suppress it, its not suppressed.

There's that, I suppose. However, I just revised my last post after stumbling across something I hadn't noticed before. Based upon both of those things, a character should not automatically suppress a power.

Because the answer to your question affects your opponent, I am posting this out in the open.

If a psionic power with an auditory display is manifested, we will assume that the power was not manifested softly unless you explicitly say so. That means that it is easily heard instead of only being hearable from within 15 feet with a successful Listen check.

Question before I begin: Is your character still visible in O19, or did you use some speed-boosting power before you made your opening strike? I don't see how you can get past the visible O19 with 30 ft speed.
