Re: Jibar's Random Banter #137: Return of the Cat-Muffin
People actually use the markers? That just always seemed like a waste of time to me. You should know where the mines are going to be in your head anyway. Why would you even need the markers?
...Or maybe that's just representative of my strange mind doing things the hard way for no reason. <.<;
Have you tried Tetris? Not implying you've never HEARD of Tetris, but have you tried making it your game of choice?
Have you tried...First Person Tetris?

I have got to see that when the connection permits it again. Sounds most intriguing. (Motion puzzles in general have a nice built-in limitation of my eyes and brain going "no, make the room stop moving" after I play them for awhile. Guitar Hero makes for fun illusions of motion, and when I say "fun" I mean "frigging terrifying until I twigged to what was happening".)

Re: Jibar's Random Banter #137: Return of the Cat-Muffin
Term started on the 4th. Week of revision lectures then 2 weeks for January exams, finishing off semester 1. Semester 2 starts monday.
What Kobold-Bard says, however, is utterly ridiculous and only goes to further my opinion that York St. John is just not a proper university. Incidentally, neither are Northumbria or Sheffield Hallam. I also had a schoolfriend who went to Durham, but they're older than Newcastle, so I need an alternative method of putting them down, like their obvious lack of judgement with regards to their applicants."'But there's still such a lot to be done...'
YES. THERE ALWAYS IS."

Re: Jibar's Random Banter #137: Return of the Cat-Muffin
Technically this and last week were exam week, new semester starts in February. But yeah, York St. John is relatively bad (though in its defence it's only been a uni for 3 years).

...o.o You um...may want to keep a glass of water handy and a waste bin for this one, Quinx. It is...well...it is MASSIVELY disorienting, to say the least.
Also, if you're the type that prefers not feeling dizzy all day long, there's Free Tetris online.

Re: Jibar's Random Banter #137: Return of the Cat-Muffin
...Weekends no longer exist for me, due to online classes. ;w;whatever was left of my childhood is totally dead...then again, I'm 22. So that's probably a good thing.
On the other hand, I feel SO GOOD about classes! ^w^ Advanced Web Design is definitely in the running for my favorite right now. Our online discussion basically boils down to "tell the class all about great web design policy, and get praised for it by class and teacher alike."
Granted, this is just boosting my ego, but the really good part of it is that everyone in the class seems to have something to add as well. Granted, so far it's been things that I already know, but the fact that I literally replied to every single person in the discussion is so far a very good sign. I can't wait for this class to get into full swing.
Other classes are...various degrees of okay. <.<; Ethics of Web Design is surprisingly interesting and challenging to my mind, Anthropology of the Web looks like it's going to get interesting once it gets into full swing and we start discussing the finer details of avatars and representing yourself online. Even Social Information Theory had some interesting aspects, though they've yet to materialize because the class is thus far stuck in the "introduce yourself" portion of the class, which every other class got out of the way the week BEFORE class started. <.<; This is why I don't trust any class that has our department head as the professor.
Oh, and for you Comic Book fans, one of the students in TWO of my classes, Kevin Volo, is a Colorist for DC comics. Yes, THAT DC comics. He was even nice enough to share with me one of his web sites (www.pixelstrips.com), and apparently he's pretty decent at developing websites too. (Even if that page is having server issues last time I checked).
Hmm...I should start thinking about what site I'm going to build for my final project. Any ideas, guys?

Re: Jibar's Random Banter #137: Return of the Cat-Muffin
This question does not deserve a thread. I'm making a test comic about a group of thirions, a small race of animal shapeshifters, and I don't know what to name the file. Something punny. I came up with 'they're mice AND men' but it made me die a little on the inside.
EDIT: Come on guys, inkscape could freeze any moment.Last edited by CrimsonAngel; 2010-01-22 at 05:15 PM.

I now have a blog. Have a look if you wish. It contains those naughty profanities that you won't find here. If you like what you read send me a PM, or if you don't like it. I'd like to know how many people here read it.
Avatar done by me. If you want one then you clearly have no taste. I'll do one happily. You just have no taste.

Re: Jibar's Random Banter #137: Return of the Cat-Muffin
I was there, and it was awesome. I mean, who doesn't love forts? It was also rather strange, though. Chairs, by nature, are not something I would imagine forming a very stable structure. But they did! It was balancing on a hundred narrow legs, but it stood like a monolith.

Re: Jibar's Random Banter #137: Return of the Cat-Muffin
guys, guys, guys!
a) It's only part-time
b) the pay isn't great but it's above minimum wage
c) it's the kind of thing I'd do for fun.
Someone emailed me and asked if I wanted to be a student curator at the campus history museum. Apparently several people recommended me? Like . . . I'm acquainted with one of the three current student curators, having taken a class with her (and being in a second class with her this semester).
But apparently one of my dad's friends/coworkers who's an anthropologist sometimes works with them on artifacts and has talked about me. Also I found myself face to face today with a professor about whom I ranted at some length last semester (nice guy, difficult teacher) and he said "Oh, I recommended you for the job at the museum . . . did you end up getting it?"
The girl I know only emailed me on Tuesday. Apparently there has been some behind-the-scenes stuff I didn't know about.
But anyway, I'm going in on Sunday to work with one of the professors on some artifacts, and furthermore, I'm supposed to do research on the history of photography and cinema for a new exhibit.

Re: Jibar's Random Banter #137: Return of the Cat-Muffin
Working at a museum is a really cool job. I did some serious volunteering at the Royal Ontario Museum, and that was a lot of fun. Gratz, and I hope you enjoy the new job.
Step 1: Get workers to make goods for you.
Step 2: Sell the goods for a higher amount than what you pay the workers.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit!
Thanks to Mortugg for my current avatar, and for this steampunk version:

Re: Jibar's Random Banter #137: Return of the Cat-Muffin
Hiya, RB. I gotta question: I'm looking into art schools, with the objective of getting a Bachelors in music engineering. Cost is obviously an issue, so Berklee isn't gonna happen, so I'm looking at cheaper alternatives. A couple of schools I'm considering so far are the Art Institute of Seattle and Columbia College Chicago. Any opinions on either, or recommendations elsewhere? Thankya.
