Eragon, Where Dragons dare

Lina points. "There's a dumb blonde who got himself trapped in that mountain. He has something of mine, so I can't just leave him there."

"Interesting. And you were right; I do require your help for a certain...endeavor of mine. If I were to help you retrieve him, perhaps you could help me with a certain magical experiment of mine."

Lina's smiles, but at the same time her eyes narrow. "What kind of experiment?"

She remembers the last time someone wanted her help in an experiment - it turned out they wanted her as an ingredient.

The elf looks somewhat sheepish. "More along the lines of cleaning up after an experiment. The process unfortunately...backfired."

[Prime32]

Lina waves the elf off and walks past her up the mountain. "I'm not a janitor, I don't go cleaning up other peoples' mistakes."

{OOC: Offer her gold, offer her gold! }

Not bothering to turn around to face Lina, the elf speaks three words. "I can pay."

Disgusting. A mage, hiring herself out for money. But in this case, that was a benefit to him.

"Now you're interested."

"How much are we talking here?"

The elf shrugs. "Depends. Would a dragon's hoard worth of gold suffice?"

Lina turns to face the mage, confused. "A dragon's hoard?"

A voice comes from somewhere nearby.
"Oh, you'll have to forgive Miss Inverse. The dragons of our world are quite the ascetics, usually."

[industrious]

The elf grins. "Where I come from, dragons adore gold. They bathe in it, sleep in it, collect every coin and trinket that they can find. There are rooms and vaults of the stuff in a particular city; still interested, Miss Inverse?"

He nods to the voice. "Hello again, Xellos."

[Prime32]

"Xellos! You're- Rooms of- Wait, you mean you know- Hold it!"
She pushes her hands forward against the air.

"Did you you just say our world?"

"Very astute, Lina. Yes, we are currently in the White World."


"White World?! Xellos, if you dragged me into another reality just for sake of one of your games-"
"Oh my, nothing of the sort. And now, is that any way to treat someone who's come to help you?"
"Help? Tell that to your mazoku buddy who attacked me as soon as we got here!"
"I assure you, he was a local. I had nothing to do with it. And technically, that was a half-mazoku. I believe the people here call them Sha- Ah, ah Miss Lina, could you let go of my head?"

She appears to have forgotten about Raistlin entirely.

Raistlin coughs discreetly, to get the pair's attention. "Excuse me, but I do believe your friend has a limited life span. Since you claimed to be in a hurry earlier..."

[Prime32]

"Right, Gourry!" She releases Xellos and starts looking for an entrance. He follows slowly after her.

Raistlin follows after them. What a pathetic, annoying, child. Short and with an even shorter attention span

That woman didn't say 'here', she said 'where I come from'. I'm not getting the full story here. Is she from the Black World? The Blue?


"You look lovely as ever, Princess." Xellos smiles.

The entrance, such that it is, is simply a long, winding cave with no back. Somewhat unsettlingly, it has naturally formed into what can only be described as a slavering, fang filled maw.

Holding the staff before him, Raistlin speaks a word, and his Staff sheds light.

Lina walks after Raistlin, waving a hand with her eyes half-closed as she attempts to locate any magical signatures in the area. Her range is poor though.

Assume that Xellos said "Ladies first!" before the previous post.

You walk for a while, then feel the ground shifting, as tunnels and pathways rearrange themselves, as though the mountain is alive.
Now, the tunnel branches into four paths, leading deeper into the mountain.

Battle
The violence grinds to a halt as the soldiers stop and stare. Even the ghouls who feel no pain, fear or mercy stopped and stared. A massive army of ghosts was marching towards them, rank upon rank, spectral faces totally oblivious, hands clutching ghostly blades. In their midst staggered a mockery of a man, Eragon's features ran together like melted wax, and his proportions were still wrong. One leg was shorter then the other, and his left shoulder was twisted the wrong way, his chest unbalanced. just the same, he walked with an undeniable power.
"I give you a choice." He said softly, yet his words bounced around the battlefield, every soul hearing them. "Here, I break your chains. I cast your loyalties aside. And in place, I give you a single choice. Serve me in life, or serve me in death."

Elric
"Then am I to assume that this man's death is the price for your services, or was there something else? Whatever allegiance you might have made with my people, the Duke of Swords rarely comes to aid anyone without a price."

Dilvish
Panicking, Dilvish jumps from the ledge. He's out of options; it's time to use an invocation. Dilvish reaches across the infinite void to a random world and tries to pull out -something-. Anything, just so long as it can bear him to safety.

"That's bad. Very bad. Leonidas, time to retreat."

Raistlin

The magus peers down the corridors. "Do you have anything that belongs to your friend, Miss Inverse? I can attempt a seeking spell to speed our way through the mountain."

[Cracklord]

Arioch laughs. Things have come in a full circle, last scion of melnibone. You gave me this world. Passed it over to chaos. Why should I leave?

Divlish
Your hand flails desperately, and hooked onto the wall. You sway with vertigo, shake and close your eyes for a brief second, then open them as your perspective realigns.
…You are exactly where you started. Before you even began climbing.
Before you can question this odd turn of events, you get a prickling feeling at the back of your neck. Someone is coming.

Bloodwraith

The boy is of little interest. Too far away and too magic-y. Magic doesn't bleed. The bloodwraith instead decides to resume slaughtering mundane soldier.

Leonidas

"Spartans! Fall back a headlong approach will only get us all killed!" Leonidas orders as he retreats from the field. He'll have his men set up a defensive position around the battle field.

[Cracklord]

They do as you demand, Artemis last to leave the battle. As he turns, a spectral reverent glides behind him, readying an enormous axe. At the last second, he turns and swings his sword. The reverent looks surprised for a brief instant, then winks out of existence, as though it had never been.
Slowly, it reforms at the back of the ghosts lines, with an audible 'pop.'

Bloodwraith
Still soaking in the dragons blood, you shudder as a change wracks your body. uncounted miles away, Merlin is murmuring, eyes narrowed furiously in concentration. The starmetal sloughs off you, until it is Percy standing their, covered in gore, and blinking. His wounds are gone, and a terrible memory lurks at the edge of his thoughts, waiting to be examined.

Lord Soth
Soth steps forward, "I am a being of Death, Rider and I recognize only one ruler, and she is not you. I am not intimidated by an army of spirits, nor is any true knight." With this, he points his sword squarely at Eragon.

"Now, that was..." the man smiles again. It seems to be the one expression that he can manage. "surprising. Which, mind you, is the natural state of being. We were not born yesterday, you know, and did not exist until now."

[Cracklord]

Eragon doesn't spare you so much as a glance. He's almost human now.
The army of ghosts flows toward you, eerily soundless, cutting down any soldiers foolish enough to stand and fight, or too slow to run.

The magus peers down the corridors. "Do you have anything that belongs to your friend, Miss Inverse? I can attempt a seeking spell to speed our way through the mountain."

Lina scratches her chin. "Well..."

"I do!"
As the others look at him in confusion, Xellos produces a sock.
"Well, you never know..."
