Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Would anybody have an issue with me jumping forward into this slot and throwing together a recruitment thread now? I'm itching to get back into narrating.
The fairer way is to move everybody forward a week, but that might not fit in with other people's schedules. I'll wait until I'm either told go ahead, or go away because I'm being obnoxious.

Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
It is not the physical limitations of my phone to computer internet connection, but the fact that I've been out of work for 4 months, and the job that was supposed to start today didn't- has been postponed indefinitely in fact. Without that money, I will soon have NO internet, electricity, phone or apartment in which to use said internet, electricity and phone.
So yeah, your little achievement doesn't seem so big to me.

Thanks Thufir, recruitment thread is being created as we speak.
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation Zanshin. Hope things get sorted out for you so you can come back and run a kickass game without any worries.
EDIT - Fatbelly V is now recruiting here!

Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
I'm very aware that I'm at risk of monopolising this whole thread at the moment, so my apologies in advance. It seems that since I've come back I've really got my narrator groove on.
Could I reserve the 20th June for Advent Children IV - Centuries of Sin? If taking two game slots a few months apart is seen as hogging the schedule then I completely understand and I'll bide my time.
I'll post a tentative ruleset once I know what the hell I'm doing with it. It'll be better than the last one, I promise!Last edited by banjo1985; 2011-04-07 at 04:35 AM.

Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Ah well, I doubt they'll be getting a break, even after how the last game ended. I think there are a few people still around that really, REALLY want to have another shot at those guys. I wouldn't want to disappoint them.
Yeah, it looks like it will be Final Fantasy X that I'll base this game on, inkeeping with the progression from the first three games. Having said that, you know what I'm like. I'm just as likely to edit the rules and go back to the original Advent Children setting. By the time I post a ruleset I'll probably have made up my mind. Probably.

Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Just got an idea.
Imagine a WW game where player choose their roles mid-game.
Essentially every starts as a plain villager, mason, or wolf.
Once per game, they can PM the narrator and give themselves a role.
Seer (wolves become alphas, every seer after the first 3 seers are fools)
Night baner
Day Baner (once time usage except for villagers)
Beast
Voider
Assassin (night kill once per 3 days)
Anyone think this would be interesting?Gitp's No. 1 Cake hater

Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Hmm...
How about this
Seer (wolves become alphas, any seer born when there are 3 living seers are fools)
Night baner (All night baners are careless unless they are the lone living one)
Day Baner (once time usage except for villagers)
Voider
Assassin (night kill once per X days, X equals the number of assassins)
Beast (Revenge kill success chance is decreases to 0% if there are more than 3 living beasts)
Counter (Is given the current count of roles when born)Gitp's No. 1 Cake hater
On Vacation until Aug 7th.
Spell currently researching: Explosive Pie.
Weapon currently crafting: +1 cakebane kris

Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
I just thought of a possibly extremely confusing and complex WW game that is created by adding only one rule: When you die, you are killed *retroactively*. This will resurrect and kill people based on the new lynch. Example:
Day 1:
A points at F
B points at A
C points at A
D points at F
E points at F
F points at A
Other people vote off-wagon
Result: F is lynched because he reached 3 votes first. F is revealed to be a wolf
Night 1: Wolves kill E
Result: Day 1 now reads:
A points at F
B points at A
C points at A
D points at F
which implies that A should be lynched, not F. Thus, A and E are killed and F is resurrected (Until he gets lynched again, of course).
Benefits to villagers: Changing results of lynches that produce confirmed villagers
Benefits to wolves: Can strategically use the night kill to reverse previous lynchings and delay the villagers.
This would probably still require a higher than normal proportion of wolves.
Thoughts?
Edit: On further consideration, it might be better if only wolves killed retroactively. Hm...Last edited by Saposhiente; 2011-04-08 at 12:32 AM.

Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
I'm all for games that shake up the standard werewolf mechanics and try to do something different. I have doubts that this would work, because once you got more than, lets say four days in, every lynch and kill would have a mind boggling effect on the days before. Then there's the fact that maybe 75% of players that die in games don't pay attention to them after their death, so wouldn't realise when they get resurrected. And then there's the possibility of ghost chatter prior to ressurection, leading to players coming back with more info than they should have. None of these issues are insurmountable, but I can't say that I'd want to run it.
But still, I'd say if you think you can keep track of everything then its worth a go. Maybe try a small game (10-12 players, maybe?) with the rules when you think you've got them sorted, and see how the mechanic works. I'd happily play, though probably in a highly confused and illogical manner.

Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
I've considered the idea of retroactive kills before... and other retroactive actions. But never as a general thing, just an occasional one. Because I've considered running games which include the possibility of time travel.

Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Alright, I figure it might be a good idea to post the Insane Mafia rules.
Basic Rules
Spoiler
- Votes for one'sself are counted
- PMing is allowed
- Post rate as works for a majority of players
- No lynch votes are accepted, a majority results in no lynch
- No autolynch (if there is 1 wolf left, not participating, there will be no night kill after the alotted night phase)
- Regular and various events
- Begins on night phase
- No role reveal on death
- Recruitment is refusable (New target determined at random without possiblility of PR)
- If a PR is selected, unless Charisma, they lose that ability when going to the wolves. That position is not replaced.
Roles
Spoiler
- Boss (Alpha)- Picks team. Scries as villager
- Conspiritor- Wolf scrier
- Bad guy- normal wolf
- Mayor- elected by secret ballot (wolves may not vote) on day 1 (day 1 will also have a lynch as well). Mayor has day bane. Wolves may be elected (don't want to be town if that happens)
- Ret. Soldier- Night baner
- Investigator- Scrier
- Mr./Mrs. Charisma- can force any player to vote as he/she wants. This player may reveal that they are under the influence of Charisma.
The Big Secret:
SpoilerThere is one, major secret to the game. Can you guess what it is? (You didn't really think this spoiler would have it did you?)
Any ideas for things that need to be changed? Look good?
EDIT:
No ideal number, but at least 25.
Story:
SpoilerIt used to be a peaceful city. Not really like those big cities, but not exactly your small town either. It used ot be quite peaceful. Then the murders started. Nobody knows how or why, but it must be someone in the town, for motivations unknown. Worse, it looks like there is not just one.Last edited by 101jir; 2011-04-08 at 08:58 AM.

Re: WW Central VII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
I'm noticing a big problem. We need more people willing to co-narrate not only games they truly want to be associated with, but with some of the smaller games.
There are games that are faltering because no one is willing to help these junior narrators.
I'm only one pixie, and I can't run my own games and co-narrate all the others at the same time.
