Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
Updated the list with Ayeci's family (Ayeci. The Aye-Aye pokemon.) and moved Chombit and Chombing (the Zombie pokemon) to the right place. I may have also cried a bit.

Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
Some technical questions.
1. What game is this a hack of Fire Red, Ruby, Emerald?
2. Are you working alone on this?
Some advice questions.
1. What tools do you like to use for hacking?
2. What program do you like to use for creating sprites?
Some more ideas
1. For one of the Poison it could be a Tree frog like.
2. Another poison or a reptile could be the Gila monster
3. Strange idea of a monkey covered with creeping vines.
4. Jellyfish in Ice bubble.
5. Bipedal Frilled lizard
6. Steel Horny Devil
7. Mechanical horse (Steel/Fire)Avatar by Onasuma

Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
Technical Stuff
1. I'm thinking FireRed. It's the most done for hacking, but the easiest.
2. I might have a little help from serenity2132, but for the most part, yes. It's just to keep me entertained while my girlfriend is gone over the summer.
Advice
1. Currently I am focussing just on stats and Pokedex, which YAPE helps IMMENSLY for that. I am also looking for a nice sprite replacer.
2. ... Microsoft Paint. I'm baaaaad....
Other
1. I like it!
2. That too!
3. Hm... lemme think on that. We already have a possum and an aye-aye. That's a lot in the trees.
4. ... I'ms a scared of jellies... but I'll think about it.
5. Sounds fun!
6. ... Should we tell Mrs. Devil to take care of him? I kid, I kid. Maybe.
7. Ooooh... I was thinking a dark type horse, but that works too.Alchemyprime's Omniblog

If we're doing mechanical horses please make it a trojan one.
Other than that good luck, and please include dolphins.Last edited by Xondoure; 2011-06-01 at 12:58 AM.

There will be a professor. I was thinking Professor Douglass (Fir) would be a good one.
I will make at the very least one Dolphin pokemon.Alchemyprime's Omniblog

Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
You know what I'd love to see? A Fire/Ice Pokemon. Something like the various Hound or Dragon bosses in RPGs, where one head breathes ice, and the other breathes flames. Perhaps even a combo fire/ice attack(just one), and the rest of the pokemons moves would be typical Fire or Ice attacks.

Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
Or Dry Ice, which is so cold it burns your hand/whatever body part that touches it. As long as the pokemon is Fire and Ice type combined, I'd be happy, it's never happened before afaik, and I think it's damn well about time it does. All the power of Fire and Ice Moves(which a lot of pokemon don't resist the Ice, plus it's Dragon Types main weakness), all while having the incredible weakness of both. Could be highly useful in some situations, but quite the burden in others.

Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
Scald is Water-type. It would be interesting to see a freeze variant of Spore though.
So, incoming damage would be...
Bug x0.5
Fighting x2
Grass x0.5
Ground x2
Ice x0.25
Rock x4
Water x2
Maybe give it Water Absorb?Last edited by Prime32; 2011-06-02 at 07:05 PM.

Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
How about a porcupine? I can see it working as a couple types personally, but here's one:
Electric (maybe even Electric/Steel, or Electric/Ground) bolts jump between the quills on its back, thus enemies attacking it have a chance of paralysis, or just give it rough skin (or whatever it is that deals damage on contact). Moves would be, more or less:
SpoilerThe usual electric types (thunder wave/shock/bolt)
Pin Missile, and maybe a normal type move unique to its line (replacing maybe octozooka or whatever its called) dealing with the 'mon's quills.
Regardless of type, it should probably have some ground inspired moves, maybe able to use dig through TM's.
Then, if it's part steel, Steel Claw, Steel Tail, and maybe have its quill move be steel-type (Steel Quills). Could also get some poison for variety (poison sting, toxic).
If its part Ground, it definitely needs to get big as it evolves, getting access to some of the bigger earth moves, earthquake/magnitude, others that I can't think of.
Then maybe a "Water Dragon" basically a long snake that swims in water, give it constrict, and various water and fire moves. Scald, while I'd never heard of it before, sounds like it would work well here as well. Its ability should probably be the one that makes it faster every turn in the rain.
I've had other ideas on Pokemon before, think I'll go looking.Game systems I play: DnD 3.5, Pathfinder, Star Wars Saga, Vampire: The Masquerade, Dungeons: The Dragoning, AFBME, Atomic Highway, Dark Heresy, Legend of the 5 Rings 4E, MAID and... EQRPG... Does anyone actually play that?

Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
A couple of random ideas:
- A Grass/Dark type based around tricksy and evil wood sprites.
- A Ghost/Steel "ghost in the machine" type deal.
- A Ghost, Dark or Ghost/Dark Slenderman.
- A Dark/Fighting vicious martial artist family, a counterpart to the calmer Meditite and Medicham.

A Fighting type which evolves into a Fighting/Bug type that learns Hi Jump Kick. Ability: Lightningrod, so it can fight shockers.

Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
I made a Alloy based pokemon for a sadly ill-fated homebrew system, I'll put forward what I had there, see if you're interested.
Electrim (based on the alloy electrum):
SpoilerName: Electrim
Level: 1
Type: Steel
Nature: To be determined... [roll]1d6[/roll][roll]1d6[/roll]
Class: Thrasher
Stats
Att 10; Def 5; SpA 2; SpD 3; Spe 4; Per 2
Hp: 12
Moves:
Iron Chop - Normal(Steel); 1 Target - melee; 95% Acc; 10 Dmg (steel equivalent of Karate Chop, lower damage just because fighting gets dibs on damage, right?)
Tackle - Normal(Normal); 1 Target - 2(4) Spaces; 95% Acc; 8(10) Dmg
Special Abilities:
Charge (+2 range, and +2 damage on all full-body attacks)
Evolution: Evolves twice, into Platrin at 17, and Niobrim at 27. Do I get any stats now because of this, I'm not entirely clear on that, but I'm thinking no.
Description: Electrim is a very angular pokemon, seemingly made out of a coppery-gold metal. It has very stubby "legs" with no feet, and sharp, triangular arms, neither having any joints beyond hip/shoulder. It has a small, rectangular head above it's shoulders, with a face that resembles a caricature of a short-nosed alligator.
I'll probably draw this at some point, as I'm not sure if my description quite gives it justice.
That's all quoted, and I'm not as interested in it as I was when I made it, but it was spur of a moment for a early game steel type, which I thought was a interesting idea.Game systems I play: DnD 3.5, Pathfinder, Star Wars Saga, Vampire: The Masquerade, Dungeons: The Dragoning, AFBME, Atomic Highway, Dark Heresy, Legend of the 5 Rings 4E, MAID and... EQRPG... Does anyone actually play that?

Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
Remember guys, I'm not the best hacker, and we are dealing mainly with Gen III and earlier stuff at our disposal.
Electrim sounds fun but if we're making the "alloy" pokemon, it should be a Steel that becomes Steel/X based on a stone used on it.Alchemyprime's Omniblog

Re: Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
If I could make a suggestion, the Pokemon series needs more cool Fire Pokemon.
Also, a Normal/Ghost type would be an interesting type combination.
