I wonder who the bad guy will be, they only have about seven to choose from. Although I highly doubt they'd go with Hoggish Greedly or Verminous Skumm, since they're animal people and that's silly.

I also doubt they'll go with Zarm.

Add to the list of enemies they are unlikely to use - Duke Nukem. For obvious reasons. I'm guessing Doctor Blight. She seems like she'd translate relatively well to live action.

I dunno, greedly is probably the most well known of his bad guys, and its not THAT hard to either cgi him a pig nose, or just redesign him so he looks piggish as a human.

They may lean heavily on the beast master aspect of his abilities to try and counter his weak abilities. "Ok, you can shoot fire everywhere, you can create hurricanes, you can cause earthquakes, you floods, you? Well, you can get a monkey to grab keys if you are ever captured I guess."

If they play him like a Diplomancer it could actually be quite funny

I predict they'll lampshade how Ma-Ti's powers appear "useless" and then he'll end up saving the day with them.

Also, I hope they actually get Whoopi Goldberg's voice for Gaia. Not have her physcially on-screen, mind you, just doing the voice.

Wasn't there an alternate post apocalyptic future episode sort of like Days of Future Past where it was clear Ma Ti could use his powers to control human minds on a huge scale... it's just he didn't do it before because he had morals and the situation tended not to require it as much as it required Captain Planet to turn into a whirlwind?

Honestly, I'm totally going to go see this.

The only episode like that I recall is the one where Wheeler goes back and stops himself from accepting the ring. All I can remember Ma-Ti doing in the crap future was using his power on some jerk to give him change since Ma-Ti was a homeless bum. That's pretty much all I can remember about that episode though.

The major question about this project is whether they make it as campy and anvilicious as the source material was. It would almost be interesting to put Captain Planet into a world in which the antagonists weren't moustache-twirling stereotypes who pollute just for fun.

Probably won't be very good. Has there been any live action film based on a cartoon that was decent? (Live action films based on a franchise that happens to include a cartoon doesn't count, e.g. Batman)

I guess the Death Note live action movies were okay, but that wasn't an American cartoon.

I'm both repulsed and intrigued by the idea of this movie. I'm sure it's going to be horrible, but I've got to see what the depiction of a live action Captain Planet is going to look like, and whether one look at him will send me into fits of uncontrollable laughter.

The thing about heart is, it's only not an awesome power if you need to immediately cause someone injury, which is not what most people spend the majority of their lives doing. Any time you're not in a fight it's the most useful of their powers, and that's not just considering some scenario where you have a bunch of monkey butlers or something. Rest of the time he could just carry a taser gun or something, which is about as good as what the fire ring did.

This was my reaction when I heard about it on the radio yesterday... I am thoroughly amused by the idea, think it will probably be a terrible movie, but know I won't be able to help myself going to see it anyway

I knew Captain Planet was a somewhat silly, slightly bad show when I watched it as a teenager... I just watched it anyway because it was fun. I see no reason to change that just because I'm an adult now
