I had a thought a while back of distributing my character template for others to use here if they couldn't for whatever reason make their own, perhaps worth considering.

If everyone did that, maybe it would encourage more people to make comics. I know everyone uses a slightly different style, but I've noticed that one reason that keeps cropping up for people not making comics is that they lost their templates. At least it would help those who use OotS style.

I'd be happy to upload templates for my characters if we want to build up a big template library of them.

Despite the fact that my art style is drastically different then anybody elses, I'd be happy to do it, too. It would certainly make it a lot easier to make comics if copy and pasting was an option. And it would make everybody's comics look pretty similar too, making the entireity of ABR one thing. Different characters having different art styles would also give each character a distinctive look.

I'll upload my templates pretty soon even if this doesn't get accepted by everyone. Just so it's an option for lazy people. Lazy people are people too.

Even with characters in different styles, it's easier to take detail from them than draw it all out yourself.

Generally when I'm drawing a template, I copy the person's comic into inkscape and take details from it. It's just time-consuming due to my lack of a mouse.

Also, if anyone wants a .svg template for my princess peach, PM me an email address and I'll send it.

I don't use any templates for my current comicry, but I will be sure to post up any old template I have if I reuse a former character.

I have an entire inkscape document set aside for completed templates but a lot of them are unusable (avatars) and even when they aren't... to be perfectly frank, my templates are a pain in the ass to use.

My templates are varied, I used to have an inkscape file that reached about 1 mb... maybe more with sheer number of templates.
Now Its a little more simplified with only face expressions and basic body templates.
I try to draw stuff as of and when unless something is really cool or I'm going to be using it a lot (E.g. recurring characters in a comic arc)

In older days (when dinosaurs roamed) I seem to have had the idea of "add as many elements as possible to add more detail and don't group ANYTHING".

Nowadays, I try to keep detail whilst being minimalist to give my characters more flexibility (recently started bending heels in feet for some poses, for example) and grouping elements by their relation is helping a lot (shoulder pads and arms, shoes and legs, etc.)

I'd say I've gotten better over time, but that would require that I compare with my earlier artworks and I fear my eyes would melt if I did that.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with that issue. I save all my "new" stuff in a completely different folder so I don't accidentally open the old stuff. It's really awkward to look at. I always get this sinking feeling like I should be embarrassed when I see it.

Maybe it's because my art started out epic as can be has changed so little since I began here, but I haven't really had a problem looking at my old stuff. The mouths are a little lower, heads are a little bigger, and the eyes have no gradients or color bubbles, but it's not so horrible I can't look at it.

Looking at stuff when i was a kid, however, makes me want to sob. I sincerely thought those semi-ovals were wings? I seriously thought Pikachu looked like THAT?!

I'm actually of the opinion that I was a better artist when I was younger. Some of the small doodles I did weren't too bad. Better than anything I can do now with pencil and paper...

My oldest art sucked. That was the biggest complaint I recieved starting my first fancomic. To make up for it, I blatently plagerized art from serveral sources, most notably a Paper Mario spirte for one whole character.

That said, other than the roughness of the art in it's earliest stages, the spelling errors, and the inconsisten panel sizes, I actually kinda like my old art. It's charming, to me anyway. I like to look at my old art every now and again, either to see how far I've come or to wonder if it was somehow better than the overly simplistic art I do now.

I know I said that I'd make a comic every Wednesay, but last night I actually didn't have time, what with 2 major assignments due today and slightly failing marks. I'll try and find some time today to make one, but it'd be difficult witrh another major assignment due tomorrow. And the day after that I have an improv performance dircetly after school.

Things got REALLY busy, really fast all of a sudden.

While I have a few large English assignments (And a minor Social Studies one) due next week, I might have time to do a comic during the weekend.

Finals are about a month away for me, but we have plenty of time for them and there are only a few of them. If I am lucky, I may be able to start a plane-wide food fight while everybody else is busy! :3

Obviously it's because Ð is such an awesomely designed character you couldn't resist!
