She's heard of familiars but isn't quite sure exactly what they are, and so she thinks Serrin's trying to sneak in her cat.

Mutant Sheep, that raven is Isarus' familiar. Heh, funny you should mention Blackwing though. If the bond between Blackwing and V is like the bond between master and familiar in this world, then that would add a whole new level of Fridge Horror to their relationship.

As for the character model, my first thought was "Is that Radic's mom?" for some reason. Then I figured it is maybe less than likely. So I thought I'd ask. But I guess that much is obvious, isn't it?

I mean, "fragment of my soul" implies that it's actually some small part of her, and the sort-of-theme we have with familiars being a little bit of a foil to the linked spellcaster in personality hints at the ritual of gaining a familiar essentially extracting some manner of previously non-dominant strand of character and putting it into an animal shape - meaning the titular infirvention of "Infirvention" would be a literal manifestation of Serrin's (conscience? sense of modesty? voice of reason?) acting up in times of stress or great inebriation - as per "You've had enough!" - And Iris' shouting in the "Familiar Occurence" one would imply that smile of Saphrin's being at least close to one of the Stepford variety to a (less-than-astute?) psychologist.

All of that implies possibilities for Fridge Horror that... I'm not even sure about. I am legitimately and truly scared and might therefore be in love with you. It might also be that it's entirely too early for me to think these things through, I reckon.

You really picked up on some kind of trend, because My PC has a very similar relationship with his Familiar.
Specifically, the little imp seems to have gotten the "Nag the party" and "Prank the Rogue" aspects of his personality.

Yeah, Coffee, we won't kill you if you delay updates, so you don't need you kill yourself first trying to make those updates on time. Frankly, the only reason NaNoWriMo hasn't killed me yet is because there's more caffeine and Airborne in my veins than blood. As soon as December 1st rolls around and I stop pouring those drugs down my throat, I'll probably crash.
