And the Grimmace Came Back

Old Mister Grimmace had some troubles of his own.
All the townies tried to lynch him, couldn’t even use a phone.
He tried to save himself, but at the end of the day
He was dead and gone, far, far away.

But The Grimmace came back, the very next day.
The Grimmace came back, thought he was a goner,
But the Grimmace came back, he just wouldn’t stay away.

The Banjo on the corner said he had a magic rod.
It would redirect the votes to kill the Champion instead.
He tried it on the Grimmace, but after all was done,
The death belonged to Banjo, it was his only one.

But The Grimmace came back, the very next day.
The Grimmace came back, thought he was a goner,
But the Grimmace came back, he just wouldn’t stay away.

He came across a Golem, with a vote issue.
The Dyviil had a plan; yes they knew what to do.
Use it to their advantage, take the Champion again,
Now they’re nearly gone, but The Grimmace walks again.

But The Grimmace came back, the very next day.
The Grimmace came back, thought he was a goner,
But the Grimmace came back, he just wouldn’t stay away.

And then the ghosts took power, they took him out again.
Grimmace only laughed, and kicked one in the shin.
He knew that he’d be back soon, alive with all his men.
The ghosts are all still dead, but at least they are with friends.

But The Grimmace came back, the very next day.
The Grimmace came back, thought he was a goner,
But the Grimmace came back, he just wouldn’t stay away.

Well, now this time was different, the heals were all gone.
The Grimmace hadn’t risen at the turning of the Dawn.
When he saw he wasn’t living, he frowned and looked away.
It seemed he wasn’t living, even though night turned to day.

And he didn’t come back, the very next day.
He didn’t come back, they thought that he was gonna
But The Grimmace was done, it looks like he’s gone away.

But then the battle started, the turning of the tide,
The Grimmace felt an energy flowing from inside.
It was a special item that helped him to his feet
To take out the Celestials, so the town would not be beat.

And The Grimmace came back, the very next day.
The Grimmace came back, they thought he wasn’t gonna
But The Grimmace came back, he just wouldn’t stay away.

Now, let's see if we can lynch Lex-Kat. With their power though, and the ghosts, I kind of doubt it...

Townie ghosts! If you remain here, point at Lex-kat! It may not get us any closer to lynching them, but they'll remove their pointing power, forcing them to rely on the ghosts, giving us a slight chance to kill them, or, at the very least, perhaps spare their target...

Alive once again. Ah the joys. No more drifting lazily through the castle halls, and even through the walls for a phantom breath of fresh air and memory of basking in the warmth of the daystar. No more freedom. Now the champion was stuck in a physical form once again, carefree grin replaced with his trademark sour countenence.

Oh well.

It's not like he was much use as a ghost anyways. Already he could feel the power of the daystar and the cool flow of water enriching him, and it was time, once again, to fulfill his duty.

Duty had been another burden he was glad to be rid of during his stint as a spectre. Duty bound, through his powers, to lead and serve the ignorant kinsmen, bound to their outdated ideology that resisted all change with hate and bloodshed. If anything proved that, it was this awful business. Lynch mob after lynch mob, the stubborn fools had tried, and often failed, to rid themselves of the Anzjiel and Dyviil in their midst, while all of the most enlightened and most powerful of thier number eagerly joined in the Anzjiels cause. The Possessor of the power of will, the necromancer, and various other kinsmen flocked to join the Celestials in bringing about a shining new world order.

Heck, he himself had been killed on multiple occasions by the lynch mob, the first time just for his facial expression. (granted Dyviilish powers were at work some of the time, but still...) And then the kinsmen had insisted on bringing him back again. And again. And again. Binding him in a body that was becoming worn out like an ill-fitting shoe.

By contrast, the Celestials had been, considering the circumstances, shockingly nice. They didn't come for bloodshed. They weren't hell bent on exterminating their foes. They just wanted to bring the kinsmen into the light. In life, the champion was bound to the cause of the kin, but in death, he was free. Free to join the Anzjiel in their glorious victory. With the Dymium and the chessmaster at their head, and the Necromancer to give power to those that had been slain, the Anzjiel were finally ready for their conquest, and now he waited, one last force ready to step to their side. He was again bound by duty, but it wasn't nearly the burden now that it once was. He may have been resurrected by kinsmen, but the celestials had given him new life.

That frivolous champion of the Nightstar could be left in the (super)dark, but The Grimacing One, Champion of the Daystar, would be stepping boldly into the dawn of a new day.

(Translation: Take that village! Ha! But if you want to talk about a recruitment deal, just talk to Xanmyral, myself, or any of your other friendly neighborhood Anzjiels. We have competitive rates and delicious pastries.)

Well, the post was pretty much propaganda in which I was making the Anzjiels out to be something approaching conventional concepts of angels, so when the song came on, I thought it fit pretty well.
