Part of the humor of the Alcatraz series revolves around the 'Hidden Truths' of the world being patently ridiculous, I should mention.

Hence revelations like "Swords are more than Guns, Horses are Better than Cars, Stairs are more advanced than Elevators, Books are more advanced than Computers, Dinosaurs aren't extinct and actually aren't all that large, and speak in British Accents."

Part of this is due to two different technological paradigms, one with conventional technology, and the other which uses glass-based Tech, which is less likely to blow up in the presence of certain varieties of magic, and part of this is dues to the 'Free Kingdoms', in some ways, being a bit prejudiced culturally.

Hence the ****ty arguments and attempts to appeal to Plato's Cave.

The war between Heaven and Hell is over. Not officially, but Lucifer retired to tend bar. God's appearances are minute in any verse we've included, if existent at all. Humanity has, many times over, almost done things that could have killed both sides. Whether on their own, or with some other Power manipulating them.

Demons like Sebastian, who have more in common with Ryuk than whoever rules them now, and the very existence of angels with a tendency towards debauchery to P&S's degree seems like the kind of thing that would destroy any effort to keep a war going. It's gotten to the point where Scanty and Kneesocks are major military commanders, after all.

I could go further, but without that concept being approved, the idea isn't worth typing.

I like that. The Supreme Being has mostly stepped back, though the occasional miracle keeps us guessing (if you can tell he's doing his job, he's not doing it properly) and now Heaven is more or less run by Saint Michael. Whatever Supreme is up to, he won't intervene directly. However, Satan's more or less done the same, and the various Hell-lords are all so busy squabbling over territory (though Shax is winning at the moment) and influence that for the first time most Demons more or less have free reign.
Hence why Purgatory is protected by volunteer policemen ghosts.

say...does Caine's Mark Still Apply, or did his Exaltation overwrite some of his old powers?

It is theoretically possible for Simon to evade the "Sevenhold" curse with high enough levels in Dodge Charms, right?

Rain? Who needs an umbrella? I have dodge charms. But no, I think the supreme being trumps any power, no matter how great. That's why they call him the supreme being. So I'm guessing that the answer is no.

As for Caine's salient powers, I was going to keep them. It didn't go away when he lay with Lilath and became undead, why should it when he made a deal with the Neverborn? Think of it like sorcery.

Also, there is a secret, Colesign. It's that silly should never outweigh awesome.

Especially the point about Silly and Awesome. Although I feel that the two can be perfectly balanced if you work at it.

On the other hand, I'm working on write-ups on the Knights of the Dark Tower, using the Dresden Files RPG. Since they're pretty much epic and all, they've got 20 starting refresh. It's really kind of horrifying.

Are you going to epicify Michael and Ramirez so their stats are closer to on par with the others?

Yeah, though Michael might be the weakest in terms of skills.

This game takes place in a pocket dimensional universe created by an ultra-advanced machine surrounded by a sea of unreality, filled with the many incarnations of the Lord of All Vampires and their many foes...

Anyway, I thought I'd better get on track with Lelouch. He's got his own cause, afterall.

As for Michael, he drank from the grail. Which means that no matter the challenge, God will provide him with what he needs to overcome it. He will never age, tire, or doubt, never be tempted, never give up. Both a blessing and a curse, naturally, because you lose your illusions and the essential spark that makes you human in the process. He can never go back. He's now 100% committed.
I also thought of giving him a box full of (12) legendary swords (Ascalaon, Balmung, Gram, that sort of thing) so he can pull out the appropriate one as he wants.

I was planning on giving Eddie Riggs Mjǫlnir, given that it would make an electric guitar that much cooler, and we've assessed that Thor is dead. Also gives him a useful superpower set.

And Ramirez has an advantage that few other wizards do. A massive untapped well of power that he can freely draw from. At the very least, he'll never run out of magic.

I'm working on the Knight's character sheets a la the Dresden Files RPG now. I'm going to be posting High Concepts, Troubles, and Other Aspects very shortly.

For those who don't know exactly what those are, I'll summarize, and give Superman's as an Example.

High Concept: The Entire Character in 5 words or less.
Trouble: Their biggest flaw/weakness that they are continually striving to overcome/deal with. Not necessarily obvious; it could be a benefit, but one that is threatened.
Other Aspects: 5 Important phrases that describe various parts of their life, either in the present or in the past.

Trouble: Lois Lane (if she needs rescuing, or pre-marriage, tried to find out his identity...)

Poor Lelouch, possibly smarter than even Light but the universe hates him so much for no good reason.

That is one thing that annoys me with this game, I got both Light and Lelouch but since they are both Cracklord I can't play them off each other very much.

Yes you can. Indeed, I hope you do. I'm quite capable of playing off against myself, and separating what the characters know from each other.

Quick question, Darkblade; are you okay with my 'Heaven V Hell' theory, or would that not work? I just need to know so I can figure if I need to invent a new explanation for P&SwG's Gainax ending. Ah, last two minutes of a series, you are almost impossible to work in.


Also, I'm watching Gankutsuou...we should all be happy I'm watching this after character selection is over...the Count is so...so....interesting.

I was just assuming this game takes place during the show's run before the WTF hit the fan and Gainax trolled us into thinking a second season would come (it's not Evangelion they don't care about it) but that idea does work, it also works to explain larger issues in the multiverse like say Good Omens in it's entirety and Uriel and Mab's actions at the ending of Ghost Story.

From there, my suggestion for her is simple- Essentially, being the more, well, understanding of the situation of the two, she recognizes they were kicked out for being...well...them. Even if they get back to Heaven, they'd only get kicked out again. Really, Earth/Purgatory is the only place she and Panty would be happy. So she isn't quite looking for Hell to win, rather, she wants a constant balance between the two. Stop Hell from unsealing it's giant ghost, slice up Panty when the angels win. Balance.

As such, she 'works' for Corset in a more nominal way, following orders, but he understands that she all too likely will ignore them. She's sort of a...half-fallen, sauntered vaguely downwards kind of angel. With cake. I'd even suggest she carries a sort of 'quasi-denarian' around to funnel her darker attributes in to maintain a balance between sides.

No, I'm not just suggesting that last bit so I can have a 'two sides arguing' character again.

Panty, on the other hand, doesn't really care about any of that. She's a more 'instant-gratification' kind of gal.

Most Angel's who descend to Earth go native sooner or later, no matter how good at it they are. Case in point, Azirphale. Which is why Saint Michael shows up so much. Because Arcangels are the only ones you can trust to get stuff done (Also, Saint Michael).

Panty and Stocking less...went native and more were already native before touching soil. Honestly, I have no idea how they became angels at all, and it furthers my 'No War' argument.

They are cherubs whose job was to make sure that regular people experienced pleasure, in the hope it would turn into happiness and love (essentially, the opposite of Imps). So they nudge people to be at the right place at the right time and that sort of thing.
Then, after a particularly well done mission, they got promoted, however their mindset did not change with their new bodies.

As for their being no war, I prefer it as a Cold War. It's going to flare up again, it's just that it hasn't yet.

Also Lelocuh now gets to experience the criminal underworld for two reasons:

1) It was occasionally mentioned in the show but never explored in depth which is something that always bugged me. Drug and gambling trade are the primary sources of funding for terrorists in real life after all.

2) To put him in a place where he will learn as little about Light as Light just learned about him.
