Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments
Thanks guys. I will get to these comments at some point soon, I promise. I've been a bit busy and not feeling well to boot. Hopefully I can manage to sort through them mid-week or so.

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments
Man, you know what? I just had to stop being such a little girl, man up, and say 'my bad'. I'm a disgrace to all mankind. They should put out a manhunt for my being such a woman about this. {SCRUBBED} I will take care to be more manful in future. Man, I was bickering like a freshman paying for college by manning tables at a resturant... or worse, a Congressman. I know 'all men are created equal', but I really lowered the bar there. I'm like the Chairman of Vaginas, I was that pathetic. I am so humiliated, they should send a fireman.
Still, you guys forgive me right? You are such bros.
(I realise that 'chairman of vaginas' was awkward phrasing, but I couldn't use the word I wanted because apparently another word for vagina is the worst possible word in the English language.)
EDIT: Wait, I've got it! Chairman of *******. You know, because of how much of a ***** I was.
Re-EDIT: Nope, the board disagreed with me on that one.Last edited by oppyu; 2013-04-09 at 02:43 AM.

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments
Stop it. All of you. This is a useful thread and it is getting dragged down by unrelated bickering. The next person to discuss language, or grammar, or sexism, or sexist grammar in the language, or anything other than the actual subject of the thread is getting banned. Yes, I said banned. So stop it.
Scrubbing and possible infractions forthcoming.Rich Burlew

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments
We have two more:
The Giant on vampire Durkon's spell casting:
http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=85
And concerning Kilkil's sudden reappearance:
http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showp...9&postcount=29
Although I'm not sure if that one is important enough.

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments
I don't think the Kilkil post merits inclusion, no. It's just an art error that's now fixed.

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments
The Giant on careers, aristocracy and Durkon being a brown Dwarf.
On the lack of LGBT character inclusion.
On why V has adopted and not biological children.
On caring if people get offended.
On why maybe more female characters aren't included.
Perceptions of Miko.

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments
Thanks for doing this! I've been following that thread with interest, and even though these quotes are all in the one thread, they are still useful bits of information by themselves. If there's any argument over including them all, the fact that they can be summarised as independent points is a strong argument in their favour.
My only nitpick is that maybe it should be "On why more female characters weren't included". It's a description of past thought processes and past actions, and the Giant has been careful to clarify that it isn't any sort of justification for how things are. Although maybe there's a better way of putting it that makes the distinction clear.
This was discussed in that thread. The responses to that post over the next few pages are informative.
I thought I remembered an earlier edit of the first post of this thread (before the official rules were decided) saying that this isn't the piace to discuss the content/validity of the Giant's comments, just to list and describe them. But it doesn't seem to be there now.I'm pretty much the opposite of concise. If I fail to get to the point, please ask me and I'm happy to (attempt to) clarify.

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments
Okay, so I just made a big update... 12 new Giant quotes to the Index. It took even longer than I thought it would. I may have overlooked some suggestions accidentally, and there were two or three I overlooked on purpose because I felt they were redundant or just didn't tell us anything. Also, I was trying to get this done rather quickly so let me know if I missed something or if you see incorrect info anywhere.
Thanks all for all the suggestions!"And yet, will we ever come to an end of discussion and talk if we think we must always reply to replies? For replies come from those who either cannot understand what is said to them, or are so stubborn and contentious that they refuse to give in even if they do understand." - St. Augustine

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments
Thanks Phantasm! Hope you're feeling better.
One thing: "On Writing Female Characters" under "Writing Process and Story development" is missing its [/post] tag.
Other than that, nice work :)I'm pretty much the opposite of concise. If I fail to get to the point, please ask me and I'm happy to (attempt to) clarify.

Re: The Index of the Giant's Comments
Just to note:
Under storytelling and plot
and under the next heading of storytelling mistakes?
the last one "On Character Importance and Leadership Skills" doesn't have the link
or to put it the way it is phrased now: [post=15044329]On Character Importance and Leadership Skills[/p]:
Also, This is an awesome awesome thread, if it didn't exist I would actually have time to finally unclog the kitchen sink as opposed to learning about storytelling and OOTS...
After all, Kitchen sinks can wait if you have the possibility to learn the arcane words of the magic of the plumber's guild to unstop it for you. Although, it might be easier to sacrifice to the almighty god of the plumber, Mario.
