Night Eleven:

The Man in the coat, white face hidden in the darkness, stalked along the ridge of the tower.

Below spanned a great chasm. A chasm unlike that which had been seen before. The darkness rimmed the edge of the floating island, reaching into the depths of eternity.

For what could be likened to this chasm? Only space itself.

The pale Mime clutch the wall, shifting, slowly inching, along. Silent, he slipped in through a window.

The pale face glowed malevolently, The eyes gleamed in triumph...


Then the Masked Man laughed.

'Tom. Tom. You are now but a pawn. I will make you more. You are now... THE TRUE MIME.'

The voice faded, and Tom the Mime found himself in a cage of invisible walls. Silence, at least for the night, and Mime actions were all that were available.

You make hay in rain, right?

Poppa Penguinator shook a weary head. He glared steadily at Szilard. "Now, boy. You have things to answer for." He nodded towards his subordinates. "String him up, Rico. He's not worth my time." With that, he headed toward the vault, the third to do so. Before he left, he tossed 3 gold coins in the direction of Murska's ghost, nodding. He trodded past his adversary's grave, laying a gold coin at the head. "You were quite the man, Jerry."

Day Twelve:

'It has happened again.' 'Greed reprises the most common of man's fates.' 'Why... why are they destroying themselves..'

The Masked man chatters to himself once more as they watched everyone scramble across bridges.

Bill's body glowed a bright red as the island shatters around him. The world tumbling in the eerie glow of his lifeblood.

'Tied to the island, one man, one more.
Death knells closer, at the door.

Fearful, onwards, men will fight.
Like dogs they bicker, and they bite.

'It is R'lyeh fallen now. Hahahaha. All. All goes to plan.'

'Forgive them, they know not what they do..' 'Oh! They do, they do. If only they'd think, they would realise. How shortsightedly they look, not realising the significance of their actions.'

'Far worse than that. Haha. Some may realise, but not bother to comprehend in their greed. Look into your hearts, humans. And see if you can see the rising tide of blood. Or will you see it, and ignore it all the same? Hahahaha.'

As the Masked Man laughed, his voice echoing, though not from space, but from the other voices joining in, one last plume of flames rose from R'lyeh, and then the entire islands suddenly dropped into the aether, beginning to explode as it dropped out of sight.

Then a small voice, sing-songy, began to chime...

'Once more the barricades of woe,
Do stream upon the earthly glow.
Mortal fate to falter and fall,
Falling to temptations call.

A bloody hand, a traitors knife,
One to take a mortal's life.
The sparsity of life and death,
Hope only the angel's bequeath.

Chasing the mischievous ghost of Murska after his latest prank involving a knife and someone's back, Vesth and Penguinator inadvertently enter the vault. They quickly come to a T intersection where Murska makes an illusory copy of himself and both he and the illusion go a different way. Penguinator chases the illusion that went to the left while Vesth followed the real Murska, knowing that Murska would know that he'd know that....ok yeah, he mostly just got lucky.

As Murska was rushing ahead and Vesth following as quick as he could, neither noticed the large pit trap on the floor until it opened beneath them. Vesth did the only thing he could think of to save himself. He took out a d20 and rolled. "Nat 20!" He called out as he inexplicably dove 50 feet and managed to land, on his feet, at the edge of the pit as somewhere a GM groaned. Murska fell screaming down, down, down. When he was about to hit the spikes he remembered he was a ghost and could just float around. So instead he looted the corpses.

Wishfully thinking the Murska problem had been solved, Vesth left. Eventually Penguinator caught Murska's illusion, only to be left holding a single gold coin. Being thoroughly lost, he wandered around for an hour before finding a secret exit (which was really just a big red door marked Exit but, let's humor old man Penguinator ok?). For one blissful day for his potential victims Murska was lost in the Vault but, eventually he made his way back.

Night Twelve:

It was raining again. Each drop a cold tap on the shoulder of the Masked Man. Each a reminder of his lost humanity.

Irritatedly brushing the latest drop off his coat, though it had already went up in steam, he shook his head.

'I can't say I get why he has to have it rain. I mean, sure, it's dreary, and sure, it's dark. But damned if it doesn't make for an annoyance too.'

'I wouldn't say that outloud while he still might hear you.' 'You wouldn't do a lot of things, twinkletoes.' 'At least he has caution.' 'Hey now, don't live if you don't dare.'

'QUIET. You idiots bicker over the most inane thoughts.' 'United... we stood... now divided.. we fall.' 'I was fallen long ago, honey.'

Finally entering a doorway, the tall figure of the Master of Games shook off the coat and hung it in a corner. The small house was nothing if not lavish, despite its outward appearance of poverty.

Moving inwards, through a series of barriers, he finally entered an odd room, full of devices and gadgetry.

'Now we're safe.' 'Only for now. The defenses that prevent him from seeing or hearing us here could be easily broken.'

'Hey, positivity...' 'Is a foolish concept.' 'Remind me never to bother telling you guys that you talk trash. You don't listen.'

'There are feathers falling with the rain.' 'How interesting, migrant birds?' 'Whatsit matter anyways. What the hell happens here that makes sense?'

'Angel feathers.' 'Angel feathers?'

Behind the mask, the man smiled, serenely, for the first time, while above the dark cloud turned it's eyes to the sudden rain of white feathers. And began to spread it's rage at the newest development against it's plan...


Meanwhile, Tom the Mime found that the return of night-time meant another exposé of miming. In a clear, unseeable, definitely touchable, cube of air.
