I'd argue that the presence of Ssaelit scripture indicates that they're in Alderode, and the fact that it's being burned means that either a LOT of people have given up on faith recently or the Crescians are burning it as heresy.

If it's the past then we're likely about to find why Duane hates Cresce so much. I'm curious if his anger and rage is going to provide some sort of targeting mechanism/aiming guidelines for the silver. E.g. right now it's undirected and random, but Duane being hooked up to it and in the worst of his memories regarding Cresce sends it ravening after the queen.

I know what you mean. Since it's Khert it's probably memories. However, if it's Khert, why are they flying through it now? Khert is basically, past, present and partially future (we never seen the future, because spoilers).

What Duane's mental state is doing is merging silver and blood eels. It's obvious those eels are going to do a lot of damage. But First Silver that feeds on pain is supposedly weapon that destroys the Khert and life alike. If it destroys Khert, could Murkoph just walk from Khert into reality?!

I'm not sure why it would be the Weeping Plague. It doesn't look like a plague zone; it's a war zone. With soldiers and civilians killed left and right.

I also wouldn't bet on it being the past - this is a Crescian invasion of a major Ssaelit city, possibly even Durlyne (the capital of the faith and Duane's residence prior to his death). Which I don't think has ever happened. If it was the memory of a real battle, chances are Duane would recognize it, even if he wasn't present there in person. I think it's either something that is happening, and Duane can see it through the Khert somehow, or something he fears might happen.

It seems we are being shown what things will happen if the First Silver is weaponized. Unless Deliceux already sold a batch

I think Winallis is almost certainly trying to stop First Silver, not working with Deliceux. Winallis doesn't need to be a nationalist for him to not want something like that happen to his home country. I'm not nationalist by any means, but if I knew someone was selling a literal Evil Pain Nuke to enemies of my home state with intent of them using it - I'd do my best to disable it. Scratch that, if anyone was selling an Evil Pain Nuke I'd make sure to disable their weapon and them in short order.

Hmm, indeed. Until now it looked like a regular war, but the sudden eruption of blood from under the ground does look a lot like the effects of the First Silver.

Well this was an unexpected turn of events.

    Spoiler
    Show
So, if Ms. Sextuple-Mammary is Lady Ilganyag as several people have suggested, and she's conscious and mobile in the Khert, what does that say about the Black Tongues? They worship Lady Ilganyag, I think? If the Black Tongues worship a Khert-entity, it seems reasonable that other religions got based around other Khert-entities.

Given that Lady Ilganyag called Ssael 'your paper god', that either suggests that 1) Ssael is only a god in books, and Ssaelism is a sham, 2) Ssaelism is only a god in the thinnest sense, and is weak and worthy of derision, or 3) Ssael is a god whose power is derived from paper and the Ssaelit faith's 'Songs of Ssael'.

Also possible, the Twins are Khert-entities too. Just suuuper powerful ones.

Some suggested that Lady Blacktongue is actually Tirna. I'm not sure it's true.

Offending Duane's god is definitely a bad move, it put him in very suspicious state of mind.

Looks like we finally meet someone who might have a good idea on what happened and is happening. Maybe Lady Tittybird will give us some straight answers.

And it appears the soldiers butchering the Ssaelit were actually Gefendur Aldishmen. There were Crescian constructs there too, though.

So Duane is seeing the future. Or, maybe, something that is happening right now and he doesn't know of it. And now we have question about the possibility of averting something he saw in the khert.

Isn't it symbolic that Duane's speech on control and all is visible while Murkoph does his thing?

What are the chances that Murkoph represents Duane's hungry side?

That may be far-fetched, but it's food for thought.

Duane has put a lot of effort over the years in putting his past behind him. It's going to take a bit more, or a lot more, to get him to stop hiding. I have this theory that he knows or suspects more than he lets on about the circumstances of his death, and the whole "God has cursed me and I must flee" thing is a way of denying it. We'll see if I'm off-base or not.

I'm pretty sure you're right. Lady Ilganyag said Sette fell into Duanes dreams. This is where she met Murkoph. He's a part of Duane.

He ... might have been planted there, though. Somehow a part of the magic making him what he is. Something like that?! Remember, he was sort of 'embedded' - but Sette freed him. I dunno =)

The Lady isn't pulling any punches, is she.

To be fair, though, she has a point. No one can really blame Duane for running away and trying to rationalize his condition, but at some point, he needs to stop running, hiding and lying to yourself. Humans did it to him, not God. And something needs to be done about it.
