"Not yet, we gotta buy the tickets first," He nuzzled her and lead her to the back of the line. There all sorts of ponies there. Some with their families, friends, some with dates, some by themselves. Noises, noises everywhere, and sights and smells. Ember watched in amusement as a mom snuck some boxes of candy in their purse, considering concession foods were extra pricey.

Lockbed nuzzles back in reciprocation and follws. The row of noisy ponies confused her. She saw them standing there before during hr days of ponywatching. But the purpose eludes her. Why are we coltfiiend and fillyfriend standing here? Ah thought we lovers had to purchase tickets."

"We have to wait in line like everyone else, everyone here are trying to buy tickets too," He said as the line progressed and he stepped forward. 'Don't fret, I'll make sure we get good seats."

Rainbow reaches once more and gets nothing but brown mane. "...night soldier. Premature.. shift termination." is said before very soft snoring.

Sandy gently placed her hoof back on the bed. She looked so much more peaceful now that she was asleep. Not to mention less likely to shoot him accidentally. He sighed, and rubbed the sore spots where her chain-net-bolt-thing had whipped him painfully. "'Night...Rainbow." he whispered, before tip-toeing out the room and slowly shutting the door.

Once in the hallway (and out of earshot), the engineer sat back against the wall and rubbed his forehead with both hooves. Rainbow, the alchohol, his own failed efforts to do things for her, it all rolled up into one massive ball of frustration, anger, and sadness. Half of him wanted to get a wrench and bury this whole mess underneath a pile of engine work, but the other half of him just didn't have the heart for it right now. Maybe if he just took a walk or...or something? "Luna above...what sorta drugs was I on to get me t'kiss 'er?" he mused with a deep sigh. He trotted over to an intercom, adjusted it for Gearstride's radio frequency, and hit the button. "Goin' for a walk Cap'n. I'll...be back later." That had to be the first time he'd not asked the Captain's permission first, and simply just told her.

"Uh, well alright Shores, be careful," Sandy would hear after a moment's pause.

The kelpie looked down the line. Then she peered at her placed it line. The old Lochbed would have glamored the whole line into a stupor. But now she could only stroke her colt's chin. "All this waiting is not desirable. Do you not have noble pull?"

"I...not really," He said with a little blush from her chin stroking. His tail wagged like a puppy's tough. "At the moment, I don't really have any pull. I only have a name of a fallen noble house." His voice was soft but uncomfortable about the matter.

"Uh, well alright Shores, be careful," Sandy would hear after a moment's pause.

Sandy nodded, even though Gear couldn't possibly see him. "Roger that, Cap'n." He took a quick trip back to his room to pick up his light body armor and knives. If was lucky, he might run into a few muggers or thugs, and get the chance to dispense some quick, easy justice. Nothing to get a pony out of a funk than collaring a few crooks. He trotted out the smaller, hangar entrance (so as not to wake half the ship) and trotted out towards town in the waning twilight.

[Bridle Shores - Late Night]

The guards gave him no trouble; they knew the odd airship crew well enough not to question their strange hours or activities. The little unicorn wandered the town, not really having much of a destination in mind. Just kept putting one hoof in front of the other, mulling over an awful, confusing evening, and letting the streets take him where they would while trying to keep an eye out for potential ruffians. An advantage to being small; most thugs tended to underestimate you.

The guards gave him no trouble; they knew the odd airship crew well enough not to question their strange hours or activities. The little unicorn wandered the town, not really having much of a destination in mind. Off in some roof top not too far from the petite stallion, a shadowy figure lurked, as if watching the engineer who was all alone walking by themselves at night. With quick but silent movements it kept pace with the stallion, until it got to a point where Sandy would pass by an alley way, hidden and barely lit by the old timey lamp posts along the street. Whatever it was that stalked Sandy suddenly knocked something down into the alley way, creating an echoing clatter. It seemed to be banking on the curiosity of the pony.

Off in some roof top not too far from the petite stallion, a shadowy figure lurked, as if watching the engineer who was all alone walking by themselves at night. With quick but silent movements it kept pace with the stallion, until it got to a point where Sandy would pass by an alley way, hidden and barely lit by the old timey lamp posts along the street. Whatever it was that stalked Sandy suddenly knocked something down into the alley way, creating an echoing clatter. It seemed to be banking on the curiosity of the pony.

The noise snapped Sandy out of his day...er, night-dreaming, and his head darted towards the alley. He glanced around, to see if anypony else heard that, but the streets were empty. Yeah...that there's not the least bit sketchy. Through squinted eyes, he could make out the usual back-alley clutter, but nothing else. Could've been a gang of mobsters, could've been the neighborhood cat, the light was just too dim to tell. Well, he'd soon fix that.

A quick flashlight spell, and a beam of light shone from his horn. He looked all over the alleyway, searching for anything (or anypony) suspicious-looking. "Hello? Who goes there?" he called out. Two of his daggers glowed in his magical grip, but he kept his weapons sheathed for now.

The mind does like to play tricks once in a while. It was a blink or miss it thing that might make one question it. Etc. Ya get the point. ;D

"You do, do you?" A low rumbling voice chuckled from behind Sandy as at the same time a pair of strong but soft to the touch forelegs around Sandy's neck and barrel, lifting him up onto his hind legs. A vice grip like hold.

"What th-hrrkgh!" Further confusion fell into a choking, gurgling mess as the attacker effortlessly lifted him off the ground by his neck, the flashlight going out with a fizzle. Sandy's forehooves frantically pulled at the leg around his throat, but it barely even budged. Moon above, he's strong! While he could still focus enough to cast spells, he tried furiously stabbing behind him with his daggers, back where he heard the voice. Bits of sand stuck to his armor were detached too, to be flung back as grainy clumps of grit. All bets were off; his very life was on the line here.

(Deadtiming for a few hours)

Sandy gasped for a breath of air, dimly aware that he couldn't feel his knives anymore. The sand he was trying to fling shook, then fell to the ground as he lost the spell. His struggling grew weaker and weaker, darkness threatening to overtake him...and then he felt the pinpricks. A burst of manic energy snapped his eyes open wide. No...I'm not gettin' kidnapped again! Knives gone, spells gone, he did the only thing he could think to do; leaned down, and bit down hard on his attacker's foreleg.

As for the attacker, they'd almost immediately notice a strange, earthy taste to Sandy's blood. Not foul, but certainly not good either.

"Ack! Little bugger!" The voice yelled immediately removing the pin pricks and throwing Sandy onto the ground hard. The two other presences took the moment to stomp on Sandy's side and flank. "Blegh, don't bother eating from this one, blood tastes like horse apples. Kill him." There were no responses from the other two presences as they advanced on the hapless stallion in the dark.

He lay on the ground, panting for breath as the precious oxygen started to clear his swirling head. Too slowly, those...whatever the hay they were weren't about to give him a break. He shakily propped himself up with a foreleg, and furrowed his brow as his horn sparked and popped. His last two daggers wiggled in their sheaths as he strained for the magic, before finally popping free. "Not...*cough cough*...not tonight y'don't..." he coughed out, his daggers hovering in front of him for defense. "Not without *cough* a fight anyhow..."

What followed were the sounds of combat, and lots if flinging into walls, as the other whatever was yoinked away from beating up Sandy. Whatever was happening in the dark seemed to involve a third presence. Sandy had some basic choices here, run, or stay for whatever reason. I'd go with limp away, but that's because run isn't a realistic option. ;D

Really, "one-sided" didn't even begin to cover it. Sandy likely got a swipe or two before they went to town on his poor horn. While Unicorn horns were rather sturdy, and certainly didn't break easily, there was only so much punishment the systems it protected could take. Not to mention his head took a pounding in the process. And his sides. And his legs. And his neck. And his flank. If only they'd just let up, he could...he could think of something, he was sure of it. He'd get out of this, he always did...

His miracle finally arrived in the form of...another something? A different something? Ugh...hurt to think too much. He crawled and limped his way to the end of the alley, then looked back. He could get out of here right now, just limp his way to...somewhere else, maybe hope the guards found him first. But these guys...whatever they were, they were tough. And could he really just leave his rescuer to potentially die? Could he dishonor the Cirrus name like that? Ngghh...curse this...crewpony honor of mine... He slowly turned around, leaning heavily against the alley wall, trying to figure out attacker from rescuer in the dark.

It was an admittedly eerie combat going on between...well, a couple of somethings, as in while there were lots of sounds of stuff crashing into other things. Like walls, trashcans, the ground, but, there were hardly any grunts or noises coming from the combatants themselves. Heck, aside from the 'ack' and similar from that previous fellow, they made little to no sounds with their body, he didn't even seem to be breathing as one might not expect during such a grapple.

Anyways, and then suddenly, there was silence altogether, the combat just seemed to stop. Silence, minus the cold windy chill, and a leaf softly scraping on the sidewalk.

He distracted himself with buying two tickets and hoping Lochbed wouldn't respond to his ''what?' he blurted out so dumbly.

Sandy just stood and stared into what, for all intents and purposes, seemed an empty alley. Only, he was pretty sure he'd nearly been choked and beaten half to death by at least a few...things, not a few minutes before. Sharp pain snapped him out of his thoughts. Ngghh...ponyfeather, this ain't too good, is it? He reached down, picked up his last two knives with his mouth, and sheathed both of them with a noisy, metallic 'shhiiink". He took a few moments just to stop and catch his breath, steel himself for the trot ahead, and hope maybe his head would stop feeling so woozy and light soon.

(aaaaaaaaand cue the guard!)

Uh, bits are...well, when you want something from somepony else, say food, a stay at the inn, clothes, stuff like that, you trade them coins called bits." He took out one from his pocket to show as an example. "Then they can trade with other ponies for things, and so on and so forth. Any other questions?"

Night patrols sucked. Hard. They were boring, usually involved trodding about town with only a fellow guard for company when everypony else was fast asleep and worst of all, there wasn't anything else to keep one entertained. Lemongrass yawned loudly as he and his fellow earth pony guard, Red Dawn, turned into yet another deserted street.

Lemongrass blinked when a red-armoured hoof appeared in front of his eyes. "Shh, did you hear that?" Red hissed. Lemongrass perked up his ears and listened. Scrapping sounds coming from a darkened alleyway. A burglary in progress? He nodded at Red.

"Get your sword ready. I'll get the lantern," Lemongrass whispered. He dug into his saddle bags and produced a small lantern, which he held with his wing. The two cautiously approached the alleyway, shining their light down into it.

"Who goes there?"

"Nice! Any particular type, or just general shininess?"

"general shininess, from healing and light shields to balls of light energy and infusing swords with it"

Lemongrass light down on the alley on an initial look, would just show Sandy and nothing else.

"Hahah...okay," And so he bought her, her poppity corn, an extra large Dr Cola for the two of 'em, and some red licorice. He gestured with his head that start head to the cinema room.
