Hell, I'd like to travel to London, it's only (only) five, five and a half hours away by train,and thus the shortest distance I've ever had to travel for a meetup bar the one I hosted. But it's expensive and also complicated to travel around.
Last time the venue we hired was rather expensive, and it is still probably the most expensive meetup I ever attended.
That said, I think the very next meetup was in Sheffield and all we had to pay for that was travel, so it kind of balanced out.

But it really is the travel. I can barely handle the two hours it takes to reach the next county and nearest actual city. The Newcastle meetup would have been eleven to thirteen hours getting there, and almost fifteen back. Even if I didn't have the work experience that week I honestly wouldn't have been very good company on Friday or Saturday, and the meetup originally only barely scraped into the Willing To Go Section and only because Serpy and DP would be there and DP are I break RB when we get talking.

Of course, some of us would prefer a more innovative solution to your travel time issues, but unfortunately moving Cornwall isn't currently practical- and a more practical rail route into the county doesn't seem to be on the cards either...

I can certainly do a London meetup, although I think I'd rather go somewhere slightly less big and scary. Derby is also fine.

Thinking about it, Bristol would actually be a fairly good choice. I'm here, so in theory there's someone to host the meetup. Rail links are decent, and there are flights to and from the local airport that serve Newcastle and Glasgow (even in July, it doesn't look like they're that expensive either), so it doesn't look like a meetup here would necessarily shaft the northern playgrounders.

Of course, I'm not sure I'd be the best choice of host.

EDIT:
All told it'd be about half an hour quicker than just getting a train direct to London Paddington and there'd be no chance of me missing any connections, getting lost etc.

Yes, she mentioned it back in August I think. I don't know the details, but they're over for a month . . . possibly more . . .and expressed an interest in coming to a meetup, but only if it was in a certain place/within easy access.

Confirming that I have met Alarra and that she is well worth arranging a meet up around. The same can be said of all the wonderful Troglanders I've met. <3

We are, indeed, hoping to make the next meetup. Place doesn't much matter, we can probably make anywhere and have no specific plans or anything to work around. I just love London. Timewise August will not work, and early July will not work, so....if you could make it anytime from say July 10-28th, that would work out superly for us. Not that we want you to plan your meetup around us or anything.
