Re: LGBTAitP 26: No Time For Snappy Titles
Feel free to drop by our new thread in the Recruitment forum, but we are getting kinda tight on space (assuming our original plan of a small game is still what we want). Oooh! New idea! I'll put that in the thread!
Unfortunately, Helio's got it right here.
The problem is, I'm very familiar with how my body is, as well as how I want it to be. But it will never be how I want it; the best I can do, with several years and thousands of dollars, is get close. And I'm really tired of that . However, all is not invain, and you advice has been heeded, after a fashion: instead of being naked, however, I'm trying out my new limited wardrobe. And it does feel good!
I agree with Celtic! This was amazing and made my day! I'm very jealous of your ability to do that! Of course, if I were to have that ability, I'd stick myself to just looking female, but either way...
Helio is indeed pretty!
If generousmoblin didn't have dibs, I would challenge your claim, Lixie! Who would ever give up the chance to "fight" with Lixie, huh?
Mine was, but it was never a requirement. Of course, there's nothing saying yours couldn't be, either . All conversation on the topic should be moved henceforth to the new thread. The link I mentioned will magically appear there, as well."It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale." --Iroh
LGBTAitP! If you want to talk, learn, or have some fun, stop by!

Re: LGBTAitP 26: No Time For Snappy Titles
I must have lucked out and managed to avoid the people who were all gung-ho about gaybashing when I went through. I guess things have heated up again since the last brouhaha in the last 90s.
Chest bumping? You mean that thing pretty much only frat boys and some jockling children do as part of male bonding?

Re: LGBTAitP 26: No Time For Snappy Titles
Well, that is a start at least Baby steps are not a bad thing, esp when it comes to being comfortable in your own skin. I am still not fully comfortable in the skin I was given, and I am not even dealing with complex emotions associated with said skin.......I'm a pretty simple dude when it comes to my emotions. All I would say is, keep at it and hopefully one day that glorious time will come when you look into the mirror and you smile........and just an fyi, I am not even there yet either, so don't feel down about not liking the way you look. Speaking of this, my ass needs to get started back to the gym.

Re: LGBTAitP 26: No Time For Snappy Titles
Oh, if we're counting states of the US, I've also been to Virginia, DC, Massachusetts, New York (city when I was little, upstate mountains this year), Vermont, and Indiana. Plus brief times in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky. And I knew I forgot somewhere: French-speaking Canada!
French is approximately a billionty times more useful, if that helps.
That absolutely sucks, Shiro! *hugs* On the scales of breakups, it's not too bad, could have been worse, but on the scale of life events, breakups rank pretty low, so... If I were you I'd keep in touch with him, if you can. Let yourself be sad, but try to give yourself nice distractions. And hopefully things will work out in the best way for everyone as soon as possible.
As Astrella and others have said, it's not men, either all or a subset, who "make" sexism. It's made by our whole culture, and has deep roots far back in time. Simply, and glossing over the nuances, women are pressured by other women to groom themselves way more than men are expected to because our culture places so much value on women's appearances and less value on their other facets and contributions. Your mom is going to tell you to wear make up if she knows you're more likely to get the promotion than if you don't wear it. Is she the cause of sexism? No. Is she perpetuating it? Yes, but you could hardly blame her, she wants what's best for you.

She helped me sort out a lot of my feelings about myself and my gender and such, actually. But hey, it's a chapter in my life. I enjoyed it hugely, but it's time to move on to the next chapter.

No, nothing against hugs ^_^
Seriously, I'm fine. People that follow the RWA thread know that I was somewhat broken up about it at the time, but I'm completely okay with it at this point. Honestly.Quotebox

Shiro: with what Kender said, I found this band a little over two years ago, and one of their songs always helps distract me from the sad times, and usually has about 70% relevancy. however, in the posted lyrics, I'm going to stick with "huddle close" where the poster put "hide our clothes" because I like it better that way. It let's you have a faint smile, reminding you the value of sadness.

Re: LGBTAitP 26: No Time For Snappy Titles
Not sure if start of porn movie or slasher flick
Agreed.
I wouldn't think so, but it's a possibility.
Gay people don't need to play gay characters, just like heterofolk don't need to play heterofolk. Although being an all-queer pack would be interesting. It would have to deal with prejudice from other Uratha though, else why would they have to band together?
That explains a lot - does that link that gives you a new one show up on your phone? *Hugs*
It sort of did in my school. Sort of. Some of the sports players were pretty nice, others were really conceited. There were some people who fit the nerd stereotype to a tee hanging out with all of them, but ones they didn't like tended to get harassed sometimes.
You also see it happening in a different form nowadays. The gangsta kids are the new jocks, because now adults in the industry are aroun ho grew up with gangsta kids and not jocks.
Cool. I didn't know the scouts had spread that far. I knew they were a an offshoot of a similar British thing, but thought that's where it stopped.
Nah, masculine displays take more forms than actual chest thumping. It's prevalent all over, even so far as how friends arrange themselves when talking to people outside the group.
Oh, nuts.
Was it at all related to thread relevant issues, or?
Yeah, but French is only about 60% as emotionally fulfilling. I'm one of those Americans who heavily identified with my Irish heritage, remember?
That being said, it's a beautiful language and I'd like to pick it up. It sits lavender in my mind, and has its place. Different than te deep bluegreen and orange sparks of Irish.
Respect.
yeah, I spent a good six years with all my facial hair skewed a half centimeter to the left. >_<

Re: LGBTAitP 26: No Time For Snappy Titles
I guess I would also like to be more like my avatar. I wouldn't mind being anime art-style, it is after all my favorite art style.
but not this specific one. I change avatars quite a lot, so it would be more me wanting to be this avatar shapeshifter person. or just a shapeshifter in general. you could learn a lot about people from being a shapeshifter. and I wouldn't need to worry about whether I'm transgender or not. and would clear up what my preferences about my own appearance are. Maybe. The thing is, having shapeshifting might actually just make me more indecisive over my own appearance. guess I'll never know….
oh well. I guess this post is vaguely related enough to the subject at hand...

I think I'm actually goin to have to go online and do some troubleshooting.
But that's not a jock/nerd dichotomy. That's people. You can try and fit that square peg into a round hole, but it's circumstantial. The fact that needs and jocks get along disproves the existence of the stereotype.
You also see it happening in a different form nowadays. The gangsta kids are the new jocks, because now adults in the industry are aroun ho grew up with gangsta kids and not jocks.

Re: LGBTAitP 26: No Time For Snappy Titles
Oh, no. It's not that. It's just that given the casual nature of our sum acquaintanceship, and the open nature of the forums at large, restricting the characters to queerness would have implications I don't think anyone wants to really play that kind of game.
Myself, I'd enjoy the ramifications of all the social outcasts forming a pack, but it would naturally play up triggers that people want to avoid in RP-as-escapism. And I wouldn't mind playing in what amounts to an Anita Blake wolf pack, but I don't think Rawhide or any of the other mods woul appreciate such a sexually charged game, and it relies too heavily on sexual dominance anyhow.
Well, I meant to say that there was a lot of nerd-shaming... True, though.
I've been having minor reading comprehension issues of late, due to insomnia. My faux pas.

True... It's conceivable to have everyone meet for unrelated reasons or something, but it would be alienating to restrict it.
(Not that I was suggesting or assuming it would be restricted - I just forgot to add a "some" before "characters". >.>)
Oh, I'm sorry

The gym is probably not the best place to try and deal with emotions. At least I know it isn't for me.
*raises glass* To new beginnings! May this chapter be better than the last.
And that it won't have a cliffhanger ending.
*sigh* I haven't thought about or wished for that for a long time. Though it would be pretty awesome, I'm not sure that I would be able to use that power for good anymore.
That is too bad. Shame we don't actually have a place to try and play such a game.
