I wouldn't bet on Dame Dudeical to be an actual woman right now. Maybe it's just that Dude(ical) looks like a lady.

Also, Hellacious of Hearts? Totally a regicide.

I don't think he would have lost it then (if he ever did and this isn't something like a gauntlet) - we saw him with his normal one when he banished Sparklelord (so, when the war was won).

Given that one of the members of the knightly order is an anthropomorphic rainbow unicorn, I don't think it's implausible that they also have a woman.

Rather it's more egalitarian to have at least one female on the Rhomboid Table.

Because there's no such thing as a square in Radical Land, and circles have been done.

So...the fact that he prefaced her name with a word that specifically means "woman" is irrelevant for determining gender? Ok then.

There is literally no non feminine use for that word. The only more compelling proof I could imagine would be full frontal, which you are not going to get in this comic.

Yeah, if it were a male character, it would be "sir" rather than "dame". I wish I had seen that instead of the dude part.

Dames can be dudeical, too. (And, to some extent, they kinda have to be if that's their actual title instead of just what you call them when you're trying to sound all detective-noir-y)

Also: hooray, my ability to read obvious plot advances hasn't failed me!

Is it just me or do the Radical Lands seem kinda lame in general from what we've seen of them? They're like what a kid growing up in the 80s would think is "rad" based on the cartoons he watched, but grown ups just think it's silly.

You're implying that that isn't the case? That King Radical perhaps doesn't have as firm a grasp on what was rad in his own world and that he's chasing after a fleeting dream created by a mixture of failing memories and the corruption cased by Sparklelord?

In this, I agree with Radical. Horses are, like, the least radical thing ever.

They might be magical. They might be metal. But they're not radical.

I feel the same, but we've only seen two pages one of which is just a bunch of animals with sun glasses. One not so rad picture doesn't de-radify the whole pizza.

What about the fact that the people who are in charge all seem pretty lame?

Then again, I'm clearly an inhabitant of the boring universe with nothing radical in it...so maybe I just don't understand True Radness when I see it.

You mean the people we've seen for all of 2 pages in the Radical Land? King Radical is pretty Radical and we've only got to see Ron post-transportation. I think you're jumping the sun glasses wearing shark here.

It could also be that our universe is so un-rad that true Radicalness cannot be properly expressed (as in the Tennis example)

Or maybe the death of the king has put a radical limiter on everything, and until the new king is chosen, radicalness is in a state of confusion?

I disagree that Radical is actually "radical" but I was mostly just being nit-picky anyway.

Sure, he rides a dirt bike. He also dresses like a clown, runs a mob syndicate, is a mass murderer, and apparently is racist against horse people.

    radical
    Use Radical in a sentence
    rad·i·cal [rad-i-kuhl]
    adjective
    1.
of or going to the root or origin; fundamental: a radical difference.
    2.
thoroughgoing or extreme, especially as regards change from accepted or traditional forms: a radical change in the policy of a company.
    3.
favoring drastic political, economic, or social reforms: radical ideas; radical and anarchistic ideologues.

He's not any of these? Methinks he's at least two. Pretty radical to me.

I'll agree that the Radlands ain't all that Rad. I think that's the way it's supposed to be- King Radical seems cool at first, but once you get to know him, the fact that he can't do anything the unrad way makes him look more and more like a loser.

I think it's really interesting that Radical is the main villain of the comic, because in some ways he embodies the best parts of the strip- Surfing Dracula bots down from the moon, fighting dinos with lumberjacks and punching out ghosts while humming Who You Gonna Call.

But every one of those moments has build-up behind it. The Doc has to work for them. King Radical just can't do anything else and that actually cheapens his radness.

This. The radical lands are plenty Rad, it's just that being radical doesn't automatically makes something interesting/pleasant/non-silly.
