I think most of us are going through and trying to mentally calculate how different we'd have to be from who we are in order to have 30K to throw on what at least seems to be an impulse purchase.

I'm not much of a fan of the design of the Iron Throne from the show, or of the book series, really. The TV series I've only caught a bit of, anyway. And if I had 30K and was myself, I couldn't spend it on anything that I really wanted due to various things, and if I was a version of myself who had that kind of money lying around I'd probably only have it because I was about to reinvest it.

Kinda. Design just really doesn't do it for me though. Honestly, with art students being as desperate for cash as they are, the only real obstacle to exploiting them for cheaper would be the time it'd take to get a better design.

For me the breaking points are two things:
(1.) The price. Putting down 30K for something like that - even with an astronomically high coolness factor - is simply too much.
(2.) The size of that thing. I live in a relatively cluttered condo, and I simply wouldn't have a place to put that.

Now if that was in an exhibition and I could park my keister on it for a photo... you'd bet your ass I'd be sitting there. But still, took the black.

If it were free, I wouldn't pick it up. I consider the way the show visualized the throne to be sloppy, contradictory to the books, and generally not that interesting. Furthermore, I currently have very little in my house that indicates that I am a nerd of some sort at all (the presence of 7500 pages of classic Chinese literature on my bookshelf is probably the biggest indicator, along with the small shelf of RPGs), which is exactly how I like it - this gaudy thing would kill that in an instant. If you then add 30 thousand dollars on top of being free, it goes from a mere "absolutely not" to some variety of "[profanity] no I'm not buying that [profanity]."
I would really like to see a game made by Obryn, Kurald Galain, and Knaight from these forums.

I'm not joking one bit. I would buy the hell out of that.

You can actually make a perfectly good* straw bale house for anywhere from maybe $20k to $50k, especially if you use unskilled labor for most of it. (That doesn't, obviously, include the price of land, but it does include just about everything else.)

As far as the topic of the thread... nah, $30k for a big chair that isn't even actually made of swords (or iron/steel at all, even) is just not even plausible, even if I had the cash. Fiberglass doesn't do it for me.

Speaking as a fan of GoT and a semi fan of the HBO series (Not a fan of martin, however)...Never, ever

I'm not a huge fan of memorabilia to begin with, but something like this...Not sure what it is, but it really chaps my hide (without every sitting on 'resin' swords). It just looks fake. Nothing about it is impressive (excepting the price, which as an affront to pretty much anyone, money or no)...

Looking at it again (it's like a train wreck)...Seriously?

Heck for 30-50 grand you can build a reasonably sized house out of wood or stone/blocks if you are doing the labor yourself... It's really the labor and land (!) that add up the costs (for a basic place, of course)

Pff. You just have no eye for taste. Would you rather prefer a sword made out of thrones as opposed to a throne made of swords?

What about built from real lightsabers. Though I'm not sure you could sit in it with out getting sliced into tiny pieces.

In the long run, all true thrones were made of swords. That's how rulership of a kingdom is built.

But this one isn't - it's made of fiberglass.

Ultimately, I wish I could afford this throne. I still wouldn't buy it, but I wish I had that much money.

I wouldn't buy it, because I don't have either the money or the space for it.

If I did have the money and the space for it (and if for some reason I wanted a throne made out of swords), then I would spend the money on a throne made of swords. Not a fibreglass chair that looks as though it's made out of swords.

On the other hand, this looks cool, seems reasonably priced, and would actually be useful for me (I don't like wearing wrist-watches, and for various reasons my phone isn't a perfect replacement).
