I've been DMing for a while now and my party is expecting Orcus. I want to give him to them to kill but I also want to include a new creature that controls him. Any ideas are welcome and appreciated.

Yeah, Sipex has a point there. I kicked it out of the list since it's plain and simple ridiculous for me. But that's just personal. Ridicule.

For some reason I'm -loving- the idea of Vecna being the bait-and-switch final boss. With his relation with Orcus, there's pleny of ways to spin it, too.

If you want my nonsense opinion, once The players have managed to take down Orcus, have Vecna show up to claim the Wand of Orcus and harvest whatever divine power Orcus has left. Then you can run the 'very definitely final dungeon' as a boss gauntlet of any other epic-level undead uniques that have been summoned by the new god of undeath (And soon to be death as well, as with his new powers he will surely move against the Raven Queen shortly) and their various personalities and opinions of their new overlord as he forces them to fight the heroes on the way to his sanctum, trying to delay them just long enough for him to use a ritual to instagib them or ascend or whatever.
