Everyone would need the exact same message, whether or not the name is enough to meet the minimum limit.

I like "Lynch _____." As that makes 7 numerals without even a name. Not too many players with only 2 numerals for their name.

Or, you could all use the same smiley.

Vote for someone is nine characters - it works for any username that isn't the empty string. Also, I think it's funnier.

You mean join the game? Just post in the game thread when it appears that you want to play. So long as you post before recruitment ends and the player limit (if there is one) fills, you're golden. Then just pay attention to make sure you're ready when the game proper starts.

When a new game starts and begins recruiting the narrator will generally post a link here, then people can go to that game and sign up.

Banjo, Pizzaguy, how do you do it? How do you write roles for a 40 person game? I am at seventeen roles with some ideas, but no way would ever make it to 40 soon. I would need much more time. I guess you both had things to base roles off of though....

You could take a look at Witchhunt, or Meta, as both of those had everyone with a power. Anything I've run and the Careless series, as well. Might give you some ideas.

Great idea! Off to gather inspiration from the amazing narrators.

Edit: I have written 23 roles, since that is how many people have posted interest as of now. This will be an all power role game, it appears.

I think a fair few people do this better than me. It's really not hard to come up with 30-40 WW roles, the difficulty is in balancing games where everyone has a role. I'm really not the narrator to give advice on that.

Some of it does come from narrating a lot of games though - you get to know what kind of roles work, and can reuse stuff that's worked well in the past, or twist them a bit for a new game. I'm hotter on narrative than I am roles, but I'm here to bounce ideas off of if you feel like it.

Yeah, that's definitely the hard part. Clue is a good example of a game where everyone had something to do besides voting, but it wasn't even close to balanced.

I have written 24 roles. I am not quite sure how balanced it is.

We have 24 player over at WW Classified, and it would be great if we got as many as we can. Though something makes me think I couldn't handle a 40 person game as well as Pizzaguy... I can try.:small amused:

Also: We still need one more participant for Insanowar. We are trying to start a new game, so please go check out the central.

You're generally always going to have vanillas of some sort, which does make it easier. Basing a game of a well defined theme can also help with characters. After that it is a matter of adding the powers you want, and make sure there is a counter for both sides generally. It can all get quite hectic, but that is often the fun with all power games, everyone has something that can affect the game state, and in my opinion it can be a huge incentive to play a game. Not too many people want to play vanilla townie over a vigilante or a roleblocker or a doctor, etc. (sidenote, I'm not a fan of playing roleblocker, and would actually prefer being vanilla. Strange, I know.)

It is quite easy to write a basic role, but to put effort into making a nice role PM, adding a backstory, a flavourful writeup, it can get quite time consuming. I do enjoy games with these things, but not everyone has the time for all the luxuries.

There are plenty of sites out there as well with various different roles and styles. One of my favourite roles I've employed once or twice was a serial killer who could choose what night his target would die (send in an order night 1 for player b to die night 4 for example). The chaos and the changeup can make bigger games fun. Though you must be careful once you start heading into larger player amounts of the danger that doubled roles can have. Still, that is something to cross when it happens, and it is probably easier and much less swingy, to have a little more vanilla in a game, just to keep some sanity.

Sorry if I seem to rave on, mafia is a topic I can generally talk about quite a bit.

I loved the idea behind the Death Note games we had here, though they weren't that balanced.

The main mechanic was that a Death Note user could write a person's true name in the Note, and if he also had his face, he could then write down how that person would act and when that person would eventually die.

Ha, awesome. The above I took from Death Note - well taken from a game that had a Death Note character.

I played a Death Note mafia once.... it was interesting, and not in the balanced sense either (and didn't have too much to do with the death book itself).

    I'm a bit of a Disney nerd.

I don't want to discuss the roles that are in your game, yet, but... if you have a concept and want to float it to me, PM me.

I want to see what you're driving at, and then decide if I want to join or help narrate.

If your Disney themed game has anything to do with my top favorite Disney movies, I'd probably explode with ideas.

Is the slot for 14th July still open? If so, put me down to run L-Space 2.
And since Tasroth got July 14th, the next available spot for L-Space 2 is the 28th of July.

But, since I'm in no rush to start my game, I'll move mine to the 28th of July (sorry to disappoint anyone), and move you three up to where you wanted to be.

This is almost exactly the response that I was going to give. Could maybe be interested in co-narrating or joining, depending on what you're thinking of doing and how my time commitments look.
