Re: El Goonish Shive
It didn't take me three seconds to find a logical hole in this attempted rumor-starting.
If Elliott and Catalina are on-again-off-again lovers, and it’s common knowledge that Elliott got with Sarah almost immediately after Nanase (publicly) switched teams… when exactly did he have time to be ‘on’ with Catalina?
I suppose the next rumor is that he's actually a dirty cheater in disguise.

Re: El Goonish Shive
Eh. Not sure that Elliot's relationship timetable is known in the school. Nanase does not even attend, so most people in the school would not even know he was going out with her (remember, not even Sarah knew).
So I think Cat's angle is that she was his "friend with benefits" before he went steady with Sarah (and being a good boy, was faithful while it lasted), and now he's free again to hanky, and occasional panky, with Straight!Cat.
Which is not a bad plan, as things go, except for the crucial detail of not letting Elliot know in advance, which turns one of the two primary characters of the charade into a loose and confused cannon.

Re: El Goonish Shive
Today's strip gave me a flashback to "Herman's Head". Who are the different "Elliots" supposed to be? The first female Elliot seems to represent his wish to remain anonymous/the fact that he's embarrassed. The first male Elliot seems to represent his confusion? The second male Elliot might represent Elliot's common sense or his sensitive side, and the second female Elliot (the one with glasses) his probably his intellect. (The one in the bathrobe is definitely his lust. Had this been a straight parody of "Herman's Head", Lust would be an obese Elliot wearing a baseball cap and a football jersey; instead he's dressed like Hugh Hefner. ) And Super-Elliot represents Elliot's chivalrous nature, and the part of him that beats bad guys up.

Re: El Goonish Shive
I figured the one with the super-hero costume and the E was the Super Ego.
Hugh Elliot is namedropped: he's Libido.
I think the other fours work by pairs: the grey-clad ones are emotive, the black-clad ones are reflective. Just the masculine and feminine aspects of those two parts.Hark! An avatar drawn by Kate Beaton!

Man, Elliot was way more clear and calm than I expected he would be.

Re: El Goonish Shive
you only realized the great big flaw in your plan NOW catalina? guess thats what you get for being impulsive.....now everyone thinks your straight...
but then again, this might be contained if she is sufficiently fast enough. Rhoda/rhodes/whoever goes to a completely different school so, unless people were taking pics, she would have no knowledge of what just transpired, its in my experience that information generally doesn't cross between schools they are all their own self-contained social system.

Re: El Goonish Shive
Nonsense. This calls for another hare-brained scheme to fix this new mistake!
Though right now I think it's unlikely that Rhoda will find this out anyway. From what I recall, that Rhoda and Catalina are dating isn't common knowledge, so there isn't an immediate reason for someone to tell her what went on. And as Raziere said, they go to different schools, so gossip is unlikely to propagate. Particularly if everyone's decided to 'go back to real celebrity gossip'.

Re: El Goonish Shive
Its clearly that random crazy chick! Damn it, she was the one that immediately thought it, and she was one of the random viewers! Susan read your own comic strip. Break the fourth wall.
Actually, don't break the fourth wall. That would be dumb.

Re: El Goonish Shive
I have to say this about today's comics:
SpoilerInnnnnteresting... *fades to the left*
I'm not quite sure, what waves have to do with anything, unless there is some tenuous connection to The Great Wave of Kanagawa art piece, which is japanese just like samurai are? Or is Sarah simply becoming slightly paranoid? In a war it doesn't matter who's right, only who's left.

Poor Susan isn't used to her feelings taking such a strong prevalence in her head. Logic can sod right off.

Re: El Goonish Shive
Spoiler
No! You are a wonderful person and I approve of your feelings and I think that you should totally act on them!!!
You should tell everything about them to Elliot (it will be funny watching his pants explode).
Elliot may have to shapeshift into a girl in order to convince Catalina to join...and they should invite Rhoda too so she doesn't feel jealous, and...
...
...anyway, I think that you are okay, Susan, and that you should tell Elliot about your feelings.

Re: El Goonish Shive
So who/what is speaking in the last panel? There isn't a speech bubble leading to anyone of panel. Is it the return of logic/curiosity/nature/nurture? I am somewhat confused at this.

Re: El Goonish Shive
Fair enough, I saw no speculation on it and assumed that it was something obvious I was missing .
My first thought was it was going to be the bald silhouetted figure (We need to introduce him at some point) but the lack of speech bubble pointing to him means its probably in Susan's head. I am not sure if its NeoJerry but if it is I wonder why he is reading Susan's mind at this particular moment. Or maybe he was just really lucky in timing his telepathic message.Awesome Avatar by Derjuin
