FALL OF THE HOUSE OF PYRE!

The Graveyard Gang's assault on the Upper Crust's New Years Party was resolved with a disastrous collapse! The Gang escaped despite the best efforts of heroes on the scene, and Pyre manor is now a smoking ruin. Amazingly, due to the quick thinking and heroic efforts of the onsite supers, there were no casualties and the mansion was evacuated in quick order before the collapse buried Icon City's most famous socialites under tons of falling rubble...

The footage shows an interview with Avalon, his armor dusty, dented, and battered. "They set it up so we had the choice of saving lives or taking the bad guys down. Wasn't a choice, really."

Another interview shows respected Socialite Cynthia Frasier, for once bereft of jewelery, but smiling. "That masked rider was amazing! And Mr. Edison kept us safe with a wall of lightning. It was how seeing Nikola Tesla in his prime must have been, back in the day..."


GILGAMESH JOINS WATCHMEN!

There are some nice photos of the man himself donning a Watchmen bandanna, and giving commands to various members of the "vigilante" gang. This particular act, following his lethal defense against the Black Bloods, throws the ancient hero's motivations into a bit of an uglier light...


PUBLIC HOUSING HOSTAGES RESCUED!
Police were called into a potential hostage situation in Brownstones today, and swiftly came under fire by Black Blood gangers! The situation was resolved by a heroic team up, as Mister Bongo of the Golden Flock and the Knight of Blades beat, battered, and broke the Black Blood gangers into submission, rescuing three children who were being held captive by the cruel and vicious Black Bloods. The city owes a debt to these true heroes, and three families tonight are no doubt glad to have their missing sons and daughters returned to them!


GANG WARFARE IN BROWNSTONES! DEATH TOLL 58 AND COUNTING!

"Black Bloods, Watchmen, even a few onlooking reporters were only a few of the casualties in the area known as the Shantytowns late last night, as the Black Bloods gang led an all out assault on their rival gang, the Watchmen! Local heroes and even a few MONSTERS banded together with the ancient hero to fend off the murderous Black Bloods and save the civilians of the neighborhood from a horrific slaughter! Sadly, much of the footage is too violent for television... The Hardliners Zeppelin was sighted on the scene, as well as a super from the reclusive group known as the Trifecta, and a twenty-foot tall burrowing creature of some sort that can only be described as a land shark!"

"Not only that Dave, but we've also got some footage of some gorey, unidentified creature that our powers experts are saying might just be the legendary Bloodwind!"

"And don't forget that the sinister villains known as the Family were present too. Janine, it's a good day to be a reporter. Thankfully between hidden cameras and a lot of good positioning, our reporters who DID survive managed to get most of the battle on tape. ICPD and the MRB are going over it now, and City Hall is expected to release a statement about the affair shortly."

"Dave, what about the innocent reporters who died?"

"It's tragic Janine, but it's part of a reporter's duty. In order to bring the viewing public the most hot and recent news, sometimes you have to take a few risks. A memorial will be held next week, to commemorate the brave fallen."

"And what about the property damage, Dave? The streets around Shantytown are severely damaged and torn up, and the neighborhood is now covered with dangerous traps that have already caused a number of injuries to innocent travelers?"


"Well Janine, I hope Gilgamesh has a really good lawyer, or a lot of ancient gold hidden somewhere, or both. Hahahahha!"


Power Registration! Necessary or Invasive?

And Virtue unveils a five-step plan to implementing Power Registration within Icon City. Speaking persuasively and calling upon no small number of lobbyists, it looks like the issue will be brought to vote soon!

"We could arrange a vote on this next month," Mayor Tristan said, during a recent interview. "Got to admit, of all the proposals I've seen of this nature, this one's fairly reasonable, at least to my eyes. Hahaha! Still, it'll be up to the good people of Icon City to decide whether or not this is our way ahead."

With the Northeastern part of the city still reeling from the bloody battle in slumsides earlier this week, and the near-disaster of the Pyre family's new years party, the motion is gaining momentum... it's almost guaranteed to come up for vote as an emergency statute next month if the trend continues.

On Counterpoint, a sensationalist tabloid, the headline reads:
VIRTUE - PROTECTING CRIMINALS FOR POWERS? WILL VIRTUE HOBBLE HEROES PROTECTING ICON CITY?

It points out that only law-abiding supers would be hindered by registration act, and that criminals could use such a thing to their advantage...

Crossfire, another rag, has a different take:
POWERS GOOD? WHAT ABOUT THE BAD BLOOD BEASTS, AND THE GRAVEYARD GANG?

Clearly, public opinion is split...


A Little Birdy Said...
Rumors surface that the Golden Flock has been trying to reach Vorpal... Who knows what the animals want with the bloody and mercenary villainess?


Biohazard Loose?
Reliable sources have leaked that SOMETHING got loose from Peabody labs. Something highly dangerous, and mobile. What is FEMA not telling us? Local farmer Ferd Wyandot had this to say.

"Two night ago I herd gunshots, and went out in ma field. I saw lights runnin' towards the woods, an' there was this big gout of flame in the field 'tween the labs and the woods. Reckon somethin' came back. Hell if I know what it was, I went back inside. Firebreathin' aliens and @%#@% comin' round, I'm just a simple man. I don't need to be out standin' in my field!"

The local neighborhood watch, HEADED BY VAMPIRES, could not be reached for comment.


Hack-a-Palooza
A rash of online bank account hackery has washed over Icon City! Random families are waking up to find their savings severely impacted. The culprits are currently unknown, and the local financeer's circle known as the Banker's Dozen has sworn to upgrade online financial security for local banks and businesses within their influence.


Vampires caught in woods? PETA gathering stakes!

Called in by an anonymous tip, park rangers investigated intruders in the Nature Preserve last week, and found Father Epiphany and several members of the vampire coven: Eternal Darkness in the Preserve! "As members of the local neighborhood watch, we are simply trying to ensure that no suspicious people sneak into these woods."

Father Epiphany and his friends left the woods without conflict, and with a fine for trespassing. PETA is calling for their blood, condemning them for both lying, and being animal-murderers.

"Everyone around here knows that they only drink the blood of animals! They're heartless animal killers!" One PETA member exclaimed. "They're worse than Hitler! We ought to round them all up into camps!"

And the Rotary Club, thankful that they're far from all the excitement, opens its doors to local pillars of the Yuppietown community, holding a meet and greet with roaring bonfires and cocoa for all!

King's Blood

And one moonless light late in the month, the battle begins.

The Watchmen sentries report Bloods heading in from the west, at least [9 followers worth]... "Public Housing is clear of'em, at least. The Knight took 'em all down. But Slumside's totally theirs now, and they took back the Rustbelt. And... The hell? There's some shooters in different colors moving in with'em, and... Is that Gladiator? What's the Family doing here?"

Moving into the Shantytowns, the Black Bloods are wary at the sight of the Hardliners' zeppelin overhead. Nonetheless, they press the attack, picking their way carefully through the outer set of ice-covered pits with no real losses. The Watchmen try a few ambushes, but find themselves outgunned, as shotguns thunder. Watchmen scream and drop, injured scrambling back,
and a few dead left to lie.

[1 Group of Watchmen dead]

A bomb comes whistling down from the zeppelin above, and the Bloods scatter, it detonates without catching anyone major.

"The hell kind of firepower they got..."

BLAM BLAM BLAM! Small-arms fire from the zeppelin downs [1 Black Blood group]. The rest return fire, damaging the zeppelin until it's forced to pull back, and injuring several shooters.

Below ground, a set of dinner-plate sized eyes flicks open in its burrow. There's a heavy vehicle rumbling overhead.

Ah, THERE we go, thinks Strider.

A wall next to a group of Black Bloods crumbles, and out burst a trio of attackers! Major Disaster sails through the air and lands a solid hit on Gladiator, who rolls with the punch!

[Gladiator is Injured]

Stormcrow tackles a group of Black Bloods, and is surprised when a sniper damn near takes his head off! The shot hits something important in his helmet and he falls to the ground, sparking. From a quarter mile away, hidden well, Blaine smiles.

[Stormcrow is Down]

And the Blackbloods swear and scatter, as a catlike robot roars, and leaps into the middle of them! The Family's mercenaries are made of sterner stuff however, and drive it off with focused fire. It is forced to withdraw. Then the trio flee, as Major Disaster gathers up the unconscious Stormcrow and escapes into a nearby fog, that seemed to spring up out of nowhere.

The Blackbloods regroup and head on up, slowed by barricades. They move them aside, cautiously...

Belladonna, recovered from her recent ordeal snarls in frustration as she joins the Smith on the scanner. "Where the hell is that TRUCK?"

"Oh," says one of the few 69rs left standing. "There it is."

They follow his pointing finger as it goes sailing past a viewport, arcing high in the sky, and coming down... Amidst the Black Bloods.

Strider sinks back into the big hole in the street, smiling. It really was a good throw.

----

The truck splits open as it lands, and from it five THINGS come crawling out of the rents and holes. Torn clothing, grey flesh, large, black eyes, and yellowed fangs gape open as they hiss... And blur into motion!

"OH @!%#! THE DRAUGR ARE LOOSE! RUN! RUN FOR IT!" The Black Bloods scatter, as a voice from above yells "NOW!" And the mist parts to reveal Gilgamesh! Resplendant in his sky chariot, both arms drawn back and holding lit molotovs, he gestures at the enemies below!

And hell breaks loose, as the Watchmen move up, tossing molotovs and firing at their scattering foes!

Three blocks back, the corpses of the fallen Watchmen and black bloods twitch and writhe, as blood drains from them and drifts upward, collecting around a chuckling figure...

----

And half a block away from the kill zone, Gladiator and the mercenaries scramble clear of the main fight... Just as Major Disaster and the Felix cat-robot round a corner. Like an old fashioned showdown at high noon, they stare at each other for a moment, both readying, both knowing what's to come...

BLAM! The sniper round from miles away catches Major Disaster square in the chest. It doesn't faze him, and he smiles.

"That all you got?"

Gladiator grins, and gestures. A chunk of concrete laced with rebar comes sailing up from behind the Major, and sends him staggering forward.

"Nope."

In the ensuing scuffle, Major Disaster is [Injured], 1 Mercenary is [Downed], and the Felix Bot is scrapped. Wounded, and with the main battle raging their direction, both sides are forced to withdraw.As both sides leave, they are puzzled by the fact that the blood exiting their wounds is somehow drawn upward, raining from their bodies in droplets and vanishing into the sky...

It's a hell of a fight.

The Draugr don't care about their targets, and are impossible to control. The five of them, just five slay [3 Black Blood groups] before the Bloods scatter in a matter of minutes. And though the Watchmen keep their distance and rain molotovs and gunshots down upon them, [1 group of watchmen] is downed with severe injuries, before Tempest manages to drive it back into a pit of burning gasoline, with a flurry of kicks, punches, and windblasts. The makeshift boarspears suffice to keep the rest of the Watchmen safe until they can withdraw.

The Smith rains down his remaining smart grenades on the largest cluster of remaining Black Bloods, dropping [2 groups] of them.

The remaining Black Bloods have no choice. They draw needles and shoot up, screaming and losing themselves to their rage...

And Gilgamesh leaps from his chariot and is upon them, Tempest supporting him! He drops [1 group], but is slowly backed up against a burning moat... When from above him, SOMETHING leaps out of the sky.

It hits the ground, spraying blood like a fountain, coating everyone nearby... And just as swiftly the drops rise back from their targets, and shoot back together into one massive ball of blood that resolves itself into a vaguely humanoid figure.

"Bloodwind," the Watchmen whisper, and back away.

The Bloodwind lashes out, and razor-sharp tendrils form into weaponry, cutting down [1 group] of Black Blood berserkers as easily as a scythe cuts wheat. The remaining black bloods are dispatched...

...As the four remaining Draugr howl in eerie unison, and pounce on it!

Claws flash and fangs bite, seeking to CONSUME this apparition, and for a second no one's sure who to help...Then Gilgamesh and the remaining Watchmen finish off the last of the berserkers, as the Bloodwind manages to pin and rip one of the Draugr to pieces, and a few molotovs go flying toward the remaining Draugr. Bullets rip through the area, doing not a thing to the Bloodwind...

BLOODWIND

Between Major Disaster's blood and Gladiator's blood, your golem form is tough as hell right now.

...And shredding the Draugr, who STILL fight on, only a little slowed from the ordeal.In the end, the draugr manage to batter the Bloodwind a bit [Injured, but heals], but every bit of liquid temporarily ripped off simply flows right back to his form. The Draugr are methodically ripped up by the Bloodwind (Who notes sadly that they have no blood themselves), and pinned down by boarspears and Tempest's air blasts, before being molotoved into burning, shrieking pyres, and shoved into pits full of burning gasoline.

Finally the surviving Watchmen rendezvous with the Hardliners, the Trifecta, and Gilgamesh, to stare at the twelve-foot tall golem of rippling blood, that regards them silently, as droplets continue to flow up from every corpse, and merge with it...

In the end, there were no casualties save for the fallen Watchmen, and a van full of reporters who managed to be PRECISELY in the wrong place when a group of Black Bloods escaped the killzone and shot up.

Well, you've escaped this debacle with no fatalities, and your thugs now hold the rustbelt. You know that there are all of [1 group of black bloods] up holding Slumside right now. Every other BB in the district perished, to a man, in that assault.

Undeath, Party of four-hundred...
James Edison, Foundation, Ideal, Super-Pac, Golden Flock, Party Crashers [PM]

James Edison steps forward from the crowd, and hurls a blast of lightning into the stage... And as he does so, Tombstone shifts and takes the brunt of it, sparing Whipporwill the worst of it. The singer is still caught in a bit of it, and she staggers... But worse for them, the lightning also fries the on-stage amplifiers, and her volume drops, noticeably as she's restricted to the vox in her mask. Grim sizzles as the lightning shocks him, and sighs, lightly charred skin flaking away from gleaming muscle. "Always one in every crowd..." He draws his arm back, and throws the scythe at James, aiming low... and missing him, managing to graze out a leg of a nearby socialite, who drops. The screaming, blood, and sudden violence send the crowd into a panic, and hastily James scrambles clear and puts up a lightning wall between the stage and the crowd.

Still, some members of the crowd hurt themselves, in the panic.

As the wall goes up, an iron stove comes hurtling out of the hole in the wall, narrowly missing Whipporwill! Avalon leaps out, yells "GET GRIM!", and charges to follow his own advice! Grim bobs aside, narrowly missing the armored powerhouse with a hasty scytheswipe, and scowls. "Okay, fine! Stone, do it." Tombstone pulls a flare gun, fires it through a window, and scoops up Whipporwill in her arms.

That's when the sound of motorcycle engines revving can be heard! High-tech motorcycles roar into action, and get stuck in with the zombies outside. It doesn't go so well for the Foundation agents, who find that zombies don't care much if they get run over, and in fact, can take being chopped up by sabres if they have to. They're unable to break through...

..With the exception of one brightly-armored rider who roars in, leaps off the motorcycle, and kicks Whipporwill in the face!

Her mask goes flying and she stops singing. Annoyed, she tries to fend off the Rider, but is having no luck.

Then the mansion SHUDDERS. "Right. Since we can't do the story of the Bold Marauder, tonight's gonna be the Fall of the House of Usher instead! G'night everybody, and..."

Avalon knocks him through a wall.

And looking through the windows, the house seems to be shuddering and sinking... Gravedigger's here too, evidently! The old mansion creaks and groans as it starts to come apart... Tombstone cradles the unconscious Whipporwill close and jumps through the floor, breaking the old wood and landing in a basement. She runs off with the Rider pursuing.

RIDER

You follow her down into a dark basement, the lack of light making it hard to see. She uses this to her advantage, toppling racks of wine to slow you down, and kicking water heaters and other machinery at you. Though failing to do any damage, she manages to keep you at bay, long enough to get to a wall that's in the process of collapsing, concrete blocks falling away to reveal a twisty earthern tunnel below. A man in an undertaker's suit stands there, shovel over his shoulder.

"Hey, Stone, Whip. Oooh, you don't look so good."

"hfe kicked Meef. Inna Fahcfe!"

"Jerk."

Tombstone tosses her to him, and turns around to face you, glasses coming off, revealing glowing blue eyes. "No one touches the kid and gets away with it, armor boy..."

Four Rider punches and kicks later, she's staggering back, cracks in her skin. Gravedigger yells "C'mon, we ain't got time for this!" And a wall of mud and gravel surges forward enveloping both you and Tombstone... When it clears, a solid wall of dirt fills the hole in the wall. They have escaped.

Meanwhile, Avalon follow Grim through the wall!

AVALON

Grim floats up from the remnants of the study to glare at you, broken bones visibly twitching back into place making his robe squirm with motion. "Tch. I can do this all day." He sends the scythe whizzing past Avalon, shearing off a bit of his armor. "Can you?"

The answer turns out to be YES, as Avalon punches through his ribcage, grabbing Grim's scythe arm with the other hand. Grim chokes and spits up blood, but refuses to stop moving. "Hey, hero..." Grim rasps. "Foundations are collapsing as we speak. Gonna let all those people die?"

Avalon hesitates... But another rumble hits, and the floor above him starts to crack and come apart. The view through the windows is now mostly dirt, as the mansion sinks down, down... And he makes his choice. Releasing Grim he runs back to the main hall.

In the main hall, with the villains gone, panic over the fight is replaced by panic over the mansion falling apart overhead!

James Edison, Serpent Tina, and a red-haired woman in a green dress are able to start an orderly evacuation, and are swiftly aided by Avalon's return, as the mighty hero grabs a support column and braces it until everyone's clear. The ring of zombies focus on fighting motorcycle agents, and seem to ignore the fleeing civilians.

BOOM!

The second the house collapses, the zombies turn, give a mocking bow to the Foundation agents, then collapse, truly lifeless.

The collapse of the mansion buries Avalon and the Rider under tons of brick and wood... But they can take it. And with the efforts of the Foundation, MRB, and ICPD outside, they're dug out in fairly short order.

Cameras flicker and pop, and video cameras record the event in its full glory.

The villains escaped, but there were no fatalities. Quite a few injuries, but no fatalities, and the snow falls gently down on the scene...

Hostage Crisis
Knight of Blades, Golden Flock [PM]

In the Public Housing area, squad cars pull up around an apartment complex, and immediately come under fire from the Black Blood gang! Cops take up stations and return fire, avoiding casualties... And the Knight of Blades swoops down, bearing a long chain and metal staff! Exploding in through a window, he carries the fight inside!

Sounds of bullets hitting metal resound, and a few gangers lean out of upper story windows to fire at a rooftop across the way...

Knight of Blades

Show

The fight is tough. You don't have a clear view of the hallways or rooms you're sending your spare suit into, so mostly all it does is draw fire. Then one of their sentries spots you from across the way, and they send a volley of shots your way, pinning you down, until...

A third faction joins the fight! Seagulls screech and dive-bomb the shooters, causing them to be distracted as a seven-foot-tall simian swings down a rappel line, and crashes through another window to engage the shooters in fisticuffs! Mr. Bongo takes out the gangers upstairs, and extends a hand to the hovering knight... "Looks like you could use a hand," the former jetpack ape rumbles.

Mr. Bongo

The Knight turns to him... Revealing daylight shining through the bullet holes. The armor is hollow, Mister Bongo notes.

Also, sadly, this goes down during daylight. The owls have to stay out of it.

The armor abruptly whips through a window, and vanishes over the skyline, as a new suit of armor careens in, bearing a handful of darts and a heavy mace. "Much obliged," says the Knight, and the two venture downstairs to the basement... To find a group of 6 gangers shooting up with some sort of drug.

Mr. Bongo's seen this before, and he rushes to take them out quickly, but is thrown back as two of them leap and lay into him, screaming and clawing as they spit blood and black ooze, their eyes red with burst vessels!

[Mr. Bongo is Injured]

And then the Knight is among them, hurling darts and landing bone shattering strikes, attempting nonlethal takedown...

Bloody finger scrabble and rip at his armor as they attempt to swarm him, but to no avail. It's a brutal three minutes of work, and no matter how hard he hits them, they don't stay down. Finally he pins two to the wall with darts that swerve and impact to target joints, and crushing the limbs of the remaining four. Even with all limbs broken they still scream in rage and try to squirm forward to bite at the Knight and Bongo.

"Berserkers," says Bongo. "They'll feel some pain once the drug wears off. If it wears off."

The Black Bloods secured, the Knight and Bongo move deeper into the basement, finding a secured room, with three children chained to the walls. The oldest among them is recognized as Richard Brady. He and the other two, who are looking beaten and rather ill-treated are pretty overjoyed to see the pair of you!

The ICPD is moving in upstairs to secure the downed black bloods. You can hear the wail of ambulance sirens in the distance.

King of the Hill
Mordecai, Eternal Darkness [PM]

And one cold moonless night, you move in. The bulk of the PETA sentries should be at home asleep by now. You go creeping through the woods, bundled warm, and the vampires of the Eternal Darkness meet you a little ways into the preserve, the Father and three of his fledgelings. Father Epiphany frowns as you move along, and a few hours in he nods... "The animals... Something is wrong, it is almost like they are... Spying on us." Snowmobiles rev in the distance, and he sighs. "Here. We shall draw attention. Go, go. Stay in the trees, hide well. Mind the animals, they're not acting right."

Mordecai makes it up to the location marked on his map and finds a ring of pine trees, covered in symbols. In the middle of them he feels it... Raw, untamed power. Yes, this is the Locus. He settles in and begins to bond with it.

One night in the woods

As you escort your friend through the woods, your vampiric eyes note the nocturnal creatures of the preserve are acting... Funny. It's almost like they're spying on you. You warn your friend, and when snowmobile engines rev in the distance, you tell him to go on alone, you'll buy him time.

You're somewhat relieved to be confronted by rangers, who look surprised to find you here. "Sir, this park is closed to the public. Are you aware that you're committing a crime by being here?"

Your senses tell you that they're REALLY nervous at being out in the middle of nowhere with a group of vampires.

In the distance, you see headlights starting to arrive, back at the entrance of the park.

Leyline

You rush the Mosquito and throw it into Morgenstern Inc's systems! It slips in, and starts its quiet work. It'll take time to bear fruit, but you should get some good cash out of it.

Poking around finds some fun facts... Looks like the Super-PAC has been transferring databases left and right. You start making your way in with ease, and slip a backdoor as you go. You figure that by [next turn] you'll have a map of all their databases, and be able to siphon off [2 levels] with no problems.

Your hackers spend their time hitting bank accounts, and manage to scrape up [4 cash] with relatively little risk. It takes a serious amount of work to cover your tracks though, and your work was definitely noticed. Repeating this again versus the entire city is going to be much harder.

Rabbits and owls oh my!

The owls bring word from the nature preserve. "Some people are trying to get to the hill! They smell BAD!"

You get on the horn to the rangers and PETA, and they start scrambling. It being the middle of the night, most of the PETA protestors were in bed, but they'll be there soon. The rangers are probably going to make contact first.

Order of the Hand and Eye

Your agent in city hall pulls a few all-nighters, rules out the woman being a Crossroads Club member. She might be a secret member, but it seems unlikely given their average wealth and her mix of clothes and vehicle.

The DMV search for cars of that make, model, and color is taking a lot of time. Some more help in one form or another might speed it up, but your agent's not sure it'll be finished this month if left where it is.

For reasons i cant go into full detail(because i am not allowed unless i wish to risk something worse than death).
I cant write a complete fact report.
But i can write a mostly complete one(lets say i will tell you some small bits of info later as a favour, and by later.....try next month, i got nothing interesting now).


This whole mess started with one apprentice from the Order of the Hand and Eye being guarded by me and my friends, he tried to escape, but he was guarded by some hellhounds that resisted his whole attempt and being mindless as they are killed him(well they are more animal actually), his remains are chow chow if you want them.
Anyway The order's leader is Solomon the Wise(no clue if its that Solomon). They had taught the guy many subtle magics, and some not-so-subtle ones. The Order is very skilled at secrecy, as i learned after speaking with the guy.

Now why i was guarding this guy? with my friends?, because he was spying on some bad people, but i was told to keep him until they would reach an agreement and make him their mole to the Order instead(him dying put a wrench in that plan).
Who are those people?, well its not that i cant say as i don't have a name or a proper description to help you with that(not that it would matter much if you ask me, and any evidence i had was destroyed in that house fire).

The events at Pyre Manor(Refer file 002) and the Museum (Refer File 001), though not as fortuitous as we would have liked, proves the effectiveness of the RIDER system as a weapon. It is capable of facing melee focused supers in hand to hand (See Combat File 002, Battle Data 003-008) The Core Trigger proved itself to be an effective weapon and the tactic of overloading the Core Trigger (See Combat File 001, Battle Data 004-006) also proved highly effective at eliminating hardened targets.

Concerning the events at the museum, the investigating agents have noted that only the items with gems are currently missing. For what reasons, currently we can only speculate. However with the destruction of the creature, we are completely lacking in evidence as to the source of the creature.

"Who are you? You say I owe you favours, but I do not remember speaking to you. Who sent you, then?"

Gilgamesh steps on a makeshift podium (a few planks and the hoods of two wrecked cars hastily pushed together) and adresses the press. His voice is loud and clear, ringing out, though his face and bare chest are stained with soot.
"I deeply regret what happened here today. It was not our intention that innocents and reporters should be caught in the crossfire or killed by fleeing Bloods."
He pauses, takes a deep breath, then continues.
"None of this was my intention, of course. I offered the Black Blood treaty, and they chose to answer with war. We would have chosen nonlethal weapons, but they unleashed berserkers against us who feel no pain and can not be put down easily. To keep ourselves alive, we had to kill them first.
Not only that, but they unleashed undead monsters on us. The Draugr are abominations, born from frozen corpses and dark rituals and only fire can keep them dead. I had to arm my warriors with fire or we would have been slaugthered, along with the entire district and more."
He gestures around him, at molten pavement, drifting ash, glowing embers in the ruins.
"Fire is not a subtle weapon. It does not know friend or foe or an end to hostilities unless it is put down or starves. Yet it was the only weapon we had. We did what we had to do.
I would like to take this opportunity to adress our opponents, as well. Bloods: you have suffered a defeat today. Leave this feud be, pay us blood money and we will not pursue this further.
And as for the Family: I well understand mercenary work and I bear you no grudge. But you hold territory that belongs to the Watchmen. Good Watchmen fighters, men and women who died fighting today live there, along with their families. If you return control to us, these hostilities never happened. If you will not, this war is not over."

Lakehouse Fire kills seven

A Lakehouse on the shores of Lake Silent erupted in flames last night, evidently the result of a gas explosion. Seven perished in the flames, one Mr. Dunphny, the owner of the house, and some of his close friends. Police are investigating at this minute, and have no comment on the occurance as yet.
