Re: Trans-Atlantic Carrion Crown (IC)
Round 3
Fruril grits his teeth and swings with his falchion once more, cleaving the creature in half where it drops into two puddles. After it falls and he is sure it isn't going to get up again he turns around and bangs on the closed door! WHAT IS HAPPENING OVER THERE!?!

17 - Fruril

14 - Ectoman 1
12 - Elian
10 - Kristoph

Kristoph deals 4 more points to EH2. Total done so far = 7.
Elian still paralyzed and nauseated.
Map:

Despite Gundwolf's vicious attack, once again the goop that covers the unholy creature minimizes the impact of his flail, bouncing off with only a wet plopping sound.
Aurora's gesticulations finish and the same symbol that she drew in the air hovers over the ectoplasm-covered undead monstrosity for a moment, then disappears. Even though there's no other outward effect, she instinctively feels that she has a slight pull on the threads of fate with this creature now, and can manipulate it in her favor ever so slightly.
Indeed, the tide of battle turns on the other side of the door, as Fruril's attack fells the creature. It lay in two sickening pieces, starting to smoke heavily as the ectoplasm seems to start evaporating, giving off a strong acrid smell as it does.
The undead in the room with the rest of the party is largely surrounded, and briefly it spins in place now that it is free of Elian's effects. However, as it goes to swing at Kristoph with its unnaturally strong fist, Aurora flicks her fingers ever so slightly to the left, causing the creature to jerk at the last moment to the left, swinging wide and missing Kristoph completely. And with its follow-through motion, it leaves its side exposed in time for Kristoph to land another solid blow, as blobs of ectoplasm fly off of it. It straightens after its attack and glares hatefully at Kristoph, and utters one long, raspy syllable. "Killlllll!!"
All the while, Kristoph and Elian continue to be further covered by the hundreds of oozes. They've now climbed up to the heroes' waists, completely covering their lower extremities. The oozes among the bunch that have fed start to have a deeper red color as their victim's blood mixes with their own foul composition. Worse yet, Elian seems completely unable to shake the euphoria of being eaten by the creatures.
Spoiler: Fruril
You're now alone in the hall with a slowly dissolving ectoplasmic creature. Doors are still held fast.
Spoiler: Kristoph
Made your saves. You take 1 point of damage from the oozes. You dealt 4 more points of damage to the EH.
Spoiler: Elian
Failed your saves. Still paralyzed and nauseated. Take 1 more point of damage as you're being eaten alive.
Spoiler: Aurora
Misfortune hex for the win! Success on the EH! Will last for ten rounds.
Spoiler: Gundwolf
Attack missed again. Sorry man.

"A ghostly, gooey undead and big globs of blood is what's going on here! Get through the door any way you can, Fruril!" cries Kristoph as he lashes out at his hated foes. Round 5
With an explosive roar that rises into a frenzied shriek, Gundwolf drops his flail, flailing insanely with claws and teeth at the human-shaped undead! With one strike, he rips the creature into two halves at the waist, and with another slash severs its malformed head. With preternatural swiftness he turns to the ooze and recklessly rips at the oozes climbing up Elian's slender form.

Spoiler: Combat Overview
Initiative recap:
19 - Gundwolf
18 - Aurora
17 - Fruril
15 - Ectoman 2
14 - Ectoman 1
12 - Elian
10 - Kristoph
04 - ooze swarm
Results:
Both Ectoplasmic Undead are slain.
Ooze swarm moves to largest concentration of victims to feed. Oozes have taken 5 points of damage total.
The battle seems to swing in the heroes' favor as the other goo-covered undead is felled by Gundwolf's impressive and not a little terrifying display of what lay hiding within him. The vermillion-colored oozes burst all over Gundwolf's face as he bites some of the larger ones off of Elian's paralyzed frame. He gets a little carried away and finds that he had bitten off a small piece of Elian's cloth as he pulls his now ooze-sodden face back.
As if sensing that an easier meal awaits them elsewhere, as a group with almost a hive-mind the oozes covering Elian and Kristoph slurp and roll off of them and tumble and jiggle their way across the floor to where Gundwolf and Aurora are side by side. Worse yet, Fruril sees the bubbling shapes of the red ooze push their way under the jammed doors in front of him and start to climb the walls around him and finally up his own legs!!
Now they begin to feel the strangely anesthetic bliss try to wash over them...
Spoiler: Elian

Spoiler: Kristoph

Reflex save is to see if you're covered by the "viscous" ability of the oozes. IF FAILED: make the other Fort save and covered in ooze slime (the "viscous" thing).
Second Fort save is the paralysis (again dependent on failing the Reflex save above.) IF FAILED: cannot move or act this turn.

Spoiler: Combat Overview
Initiative recap:
19 - Gundwolf
18 - Aurora
17 - Fruril
15 - Ectoman 2
14 - Ectoman 1
12 - Elian
10 - Kristoph
04 - ooze swarm
Combat results:
Ooze moves to greater abundance of food, which is to say, surrounding Elian and Aurora.
Ooze has taken 7 points total damage thus far.
Kristoph’s swing with his Morningstar causes a half dozen of the little mobile bloody pustules to make a sickening POP sound as they burst. As he dashes over next to Aurora, unfortunately Elian’s dagger attack is largely ineffective against the sheer quantity of foes, but he still manages to cause one fist-sized glob to burst.
Just as Fruril comes under the effects of the swarm’s anesthetic, it’s already bubbling and roiling back under the door into the foyer to seek out greater sources of sustenance. The mass slurps along the floor and walls and ceiling to drop on top of and crawl up of the legs of Aurora and Elian.

Also, you need to make two Fort saves (DC 15) at the start of your turn: one versus distracted, other versus paralysis.
Spoiler: Aurora

Re: Trans-Atlantic Carrion Crown (IC)
As the door splinters open from Fruril's furious efforts, a loud scream emits from the door followed by an echoing scream from all of the other doors in the foyer. The green glow surrounding each of the doors coalesce into a group of spectral faces rendered in what can only be described as tortured and filled with hatred. There's one for each door and they fly throughout the room, shrieking and screaming in torment and rage. Each person in the room is passed through by these spirits, feeling a numbing cold chill come over them briefly, before all of the spirits collectively dive through the flooring and then all is quiet save for the gurgling, bubbling sound of the oozes and your own efforts...

Re: Trans-Atlantic Carrion Crown (IC)
Spoiler: Combat Overview
Initiative recap:
19 - Gundwolf
18 - Aurora
17 - Fruril
15 - Ectoman 2
14 - Ectoman 1
12 - Elian
10 - Kristoph
04 - ooze swarm
Combat results:
Ooze continues to feed unabated on their paralyzed prey, Elian and Aurora.
Ooze swarm has taken 13 points total damage thus far.
Gundwolf swipes his dagger low to the ground near Elian’s knees, slashing open almost a dozen of the dark red orbs, followed by a similar amount destroyed by Kristoph’s efforts. Red blots of ooze coat everyone in the room now from all of the pustules bursting everywhere. Fruril bursts into the room, followed by the aforementioned screaming sound and the spectral vestiges. However, Elian and Aurora show no reaction as they’ve completely frozen in place, under the effects of the melancholic chemicals secreted by the ooze. And despite the swarm reducing in number, there are still plenty enough to feed on their helpless prey unless the others can save them.

Re: Trans-Atlantic Carrion Crown (IC)
End of combat.
With the majority of the miniature oozes now destroyed, those that remain no longer seem to act in concert and are easily brushed to the side and are nowhere near as aggressive. Some meander off in random directions, a couple crawl over the smoking remains of the ectoplasmic undead, while a few others stay in place, quivering.
Still, the efforts of the battle are evident on everyone in the room, whether it be from the numbness from the oozes, the spatters of reddish ooze all over their clothing and skin, the welts from where the creatures had made skin contact, or some combination of the above.
Now that combat is over, the only sound remaining in the ruined foyer is the sound of everyone's somewhat labored breathing and a light groaning, creaking sound from the collapsed section of balcony just above of them towards the front of the building. Thin shafts of light poke in from holes in the double doors at the front, barely adding to the illumination provided by the flickering torches of Elian's dancing lights spell. Warring with the unpleasant aroma from the pieces of undead creature on the floor is a pervasive mix of mustiness and a faint trace of soot or smoke.
With a few moments to be able to breathe and collect their thoughts, the group also notices that there is a tarnished metal plaque on the northeast set of double doors that reads "Auditorium".
Map here.
Spoiler: Players
I'm assuming all of the characters are going to take a moment to use a full-round action to scrape the remaining goop off of them, ridding themselves of the "viscous" effects. No longer tracking rounds however.
Gundwolf can rest a few more seconds and no longer be fatigued.
There are a bunch of possible doors in this area to explore through. Doors lined with yellow are closed, but not locked. Doors lined in green are currently open.
EDIT: I was a nitwit. I mistakenly marked the wrong section of map as being the stairway up to the second floor. The doors at B5,6 actually go to the stairs and are open, but the door at B2 is closed. Sorry about that.
Referencing the map linked above, there are doors at:
1) A14 and B14 (lead to the outer antechamber and ultimately outside)
2) D14: closed, unknown
3) D 11 and 12: double-doors, closed, "Auditorium"
4) A13: closed, unknown
5) A9: closed, unknown
6) B7 and B8: double-doors, closed, unknown
7) B2: closed, unknown (edited)
8) A2: closed, unknown
9) A1 and A2: double doors, closed, unknown
10) B5 and B6: double-doors, open, to stairs leading UP to second floor (edited)
Indicate where you wish to move, what doors to open, etc as appropriate.

Re: Trans-Atlantic Carrion Crown (IC)
As Elian regains his ability and desire to move, he shudders at the sights surrounding him in this small room. He takes several seconds to scrape the viscous film off of himself, and looks around the group. Well, that could have gone worse, he says. Remind me to prepare for swarms of enemies, in the future; alchemist's fire would have been quite useful a minute ago. He continues his deliberate inspection of the room, now that they have time to do so.
Hmmmm. There is an auditorium of some sort behind these doors. That discomfits me more than anything else- what business does a prison have with an auditorium? I cannot imagine anything pleasant happened inside. Anyone care to make a wager on whether we have just found the source of the hauntings?

Re: Trans-Atlantic Carrion Crown (IC)
After wiping down his armor and exposed skin to remove the residual slime from the ooze Kristoph answers, "Presentations must be made, sometimes for rewards to encourage good behavior and sometimes simply as a matter of ministering to the needs of prisoners. As to pleasantries - we are in a prison for some of the worst criminals in the area. Of course it wasn't always pleasant." He looks carefully at the sustained wounds of his allies and asks, "How badly hurt is everyone? Shall we continue further or halt for now? I loath to be forced to repeat a night like the one during which Chad died. We must pace ourselves carefully..."
He then moves to the southern doors (that presumably lead out to the entryway) and forces them open, pushing aside the debris necessary to do so. The paladin takes a brief measure of the height of the sun, doing his best to judge the time of day. (What time is it?) Then he goes to each closed door in the room, listens intently for sound on the other sides, and seems to focus on the other side with a silver sheen in his eyes.
Spoiler: PerceptionPerception (1d20+1)[16] (southwest door), (1d20+1)[7] (southeast door), (1d20+1)[11] (northeast doors). If Detect Undead is not blocked by these doors (they are less than 3 inches thick) he also scans into those rooms for signs of undead auras.

Re: Trans-Atlantic Carrion Crown (IC)
Elian looks at Kristoph with a dubious expression. I, for one, am prepared to venture onward. Every day this takes is another night of terror for the populace. If we are careful to not get separated again, we should have little difficulty staying relatively safe.

Re: Trans-Atlantic Carrion Crown (IC)
It takes no small amount of effort to pull the front doors open. After the fourth such effort, the left-hand of the two doors finally opens, pulls free of its hinges, and falls to the floor in a cloud of moldy dust. Through the swirling motes, the muted sunlight and cool fresh air is welcome indeed. The sky is overcast, making it difficult to discern the actual time of day, but Kristoph's best guess is that it is mid-day.
The ground just beyond the double doors is covered in rubble, the remnants of the collapsed balcony. Rotted wooden beams, piles of masonry, moldy floor planks, and the odd rusted nail jutting up make this a difficult area to navigate. Half-buried in the entry chamber off to Kristoph's right is an old wooden desk.
Listening at the doors around the rest of the foyer yields no sounds, perhaps to his relief, though the doors to the auditorium are slightly cold to the touch and the unmistakable aura of undeath emits from beyond those doors.
