Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
The problem with that is after getting one wrong, they will know they are the fool, and know they still have a chance of being right. Then they may just try to lynch everyone they scry as wolf, causing many non-wolves to be killed because of it, making it good for the wolves.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
Maybe they get a special message when they pierce something. Instead of "Player X is you", they get, "Something scrapes across your mind, and for an instant you see clearly. Player X is The Tamagotchi Terror".
- - - Updated - - -
And the Seer could get the same message, but for them it means their scry becomes complete nonsense.SpoilerWhat kind of paranoid mind sees that as something else. ~ The Narrator, during Stranded in Space.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
I don't see the problem as that's basically what the Fool does in a normal game. How aggressive they are about it is always dependent on the player. In either case they know ahead of time the information they have is unreliable. On that note, the Seer has the exact opposite issue and I don't see you declaring that to be a problem.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
I know I used a very subtle differentiation in one game (Ramsus' Scry Interference rules in effect). The Fool received "Player X appears to be..." when their scries were incorrect. They managed to hit interference several times (thus making the scry accurate), and when their scry became correct, it read, "Player Y is..." Subtle enough that they didn't catch on until late into the game.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
I have noticed over the years that players seem to be under the mistaken impression that they need to win oodles of games and/or win as werewolf and/or lynch all the scums as villager and/or never lynch villagers as villager in order to be a decent player.

Gonna drop out of lurk mode and let everyone know that Game One is OVAR!
SpoilerWell played, Zack. Had you pegged as soon as CPHoya died. How the hell you managed to keep your neck out of the noose, I'll never know. Massive play there. Take a bow, you deserve it.

Hmm, given current events, do the folks here think that another round of Phantom of the Opera Werewolf is in order?

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
I know I've always enjoyed your games, Phantom.
- - - Updated - - -
I honestly believe I'm a fairly good player.... and I used to be a lot better. And not depending on the number of games I've won, because I believe that number to be fairly low. But I have helped lynch plenty of wolves, and I've successfully lead the wolves a time or two as well. I am a better narrator, I suspect. And I've never been too good at early wolf-detection.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
Honestly, if you're active, even following the game is optional. The most fun games were the ones where players were utterly unpredictable, like the Mason that helped lynch the other, claimed, Mason, or the guy who mechanically revealed himself as town during the night phase.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
I'd like to expand my forum game horizons! That'd prolly be later-ish, since I'm getting busier. It's likely I won't jump on the chance to host the next RAF. (Couldn't even type the narration yesterday night, I was so tired.)
For when I get freer, though, tell me all about it!
Also can the next host of "Circle Of Assassins" PM me when sign-ups start?

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
YAAAAAAY! I'd love that, and a few players seem to be coming back, so that means a slightly larger player base.
Also, who was it that came up with the idea of a game with more wolves than villagers, but the villagers were triple voters with two lives or something? Where'd that go?Last edited by Duck999; 2015-04-14 at 05:31 AM.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
I've gotten to the point where without really trying very hard I tend to get lynched within the first few days if I'm not NKed.
Lex, I didn't join the last CoA because I did not know the setting.

Sorry for the RAF delay, guys, my laptop refused to boot for half a day. Went off on me, too; had to retype the whole thing.

Okay, so does anyone have any ideas for a theme for the next CoA? Preferably one I know, or can work with.
Oh! How about a My Little Pony CoA. Or He-Man/She-Ra. Transformers?

Do He-man please. I've been wanting a bit of that lately. Hmm, maybe work out a he-man werewolf. Yes, that could work.

Re: The Pub: Off-topic chat for forum gamers
Well, for He-Man WW....
Man-At-Arms would be the Baner.
The Sorceress would be the Seer.
Orko would be the Fool.
Teela, Stratos, & Mek-a-Nek would be Masons.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Skeletor would be the Alpha for the villains.
Evil-Lin is the Devil, of course.
Beast-Man, Trap-Jaw, Mer-Man, & Tri-Kops would be the other villains.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not sure how to incorporate He-Man/Prince Adam. Ideas?

Would that be the night phase? Day its He-Man, to deal with the villains. Night its Adam that can't do quite so well.
