Now, see, I thought that was an actual DD strip.
I'm not sure it's a strip slay when it's so close to the original.

I guess that I don't know the full connotations of "strip slay". Whenever I make a non-DD remix I call it a "fanmix" since the meaning of that is relatively clear. A homage like Tercano's Sherlock Quilt is still a fanmix; is it not still a strip slay?

It's like I told people on Keenspot when I originally started the strip slays; It doesn't count as a slay if you use the exact same punchline as the comic itself. That's the only rule.

How philosophical! The meaning of a statement depends heavily on its context; oftimes that's even true for the meanings of the words themselves. Is a punchline the words or what they mean? For me, I think that the words are mainly a vessel to carry the meaning of a joke from one mind to another.

The form of words can be beautiful and therefore important, as in poetry, calligraphy and Tycho Brahe's newposts. Art treats form as essence. It's a matter of perceptual stance and I think that the focus of humor is on the meaning.

Link please? I looked through this entire thread and while I saw many slays that were indeed awesome, I'm not sure which one you mean.

The Strip Slay thread on Keenspot predates this measly imitation by months.

    Until Mookie boneheadedly deleted it.

Nevrmore's original "Awesome" slay was basically the strip where Siegfried beats Dominic up, but Reinholdt's dialogue is replaced with, "Whoa, awesome!" and Siegfried whispers, "awesome." Also, the mouths are flipped.

edit: It was the best slay ever.

And you totally missed the whole "mouth flip" thing that has been in 33% of all Strip Slays.

I couldn't sleep because of my conviction that I could do better than my previous effort, even with the exact same panels.

Edit: On reflection, v2.0 wasn't very good either so I yanked it.
