Default The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0711 - #0720)

Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 711 through 720.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here.

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here.

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on February 17th, 4pm EST. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, 704 Dead Men Give No Speeches had a simple message to the judges: "Don't screw this up." With a refreshingly to the point argument as that, how could they fail to send it on to the Best of the Hundred Tournament?

While that major theological argument has now passed muster, there are still many more questions that have yet to be answered. One of them being who will win .....

The Empire of Blood starts with some really nice strips.

I'll vote for 717 - No Incarceration Without Compensation: Those poor slavedrivers have to work under really harsh conditions.

None of these really jumped out at me, but I think I'll go with 718. Elan's sheer stupidity was amusing as ever... love the third to last panel.

Tough voting this time around. A solid series of strips, but no real standouts in retrospect. I wish I could remember which ones were most exciting when I first read them.

I'll go with 717: No Incarceration Without Compensation, I think. The black humor is just too great.

Not much voting this week. I would have thought that the introduction to the Empire of Blood would have driven more discussion. Guess not. Harumph.

Anyway, so many good strips here, with the strength being the one-liners. "Coordinated soul selling" might be the best of the bunch, with the commentary about the slaveholders union being a close second. But I think my love of for the Empress of Blood will win out here.

: I weep bitter tears for that seat, which dies a little each day so other chairs may live.

Yeah. That seals it for me, I think. 720 might be a bit more meaty (ahem), but the introduction deserves some lovin' as well, I think. 719 wins it for me.

    And with that....

    VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

718 Spring Break Never Dies is the winner this week. It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
