Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5: 30. Really? 30?
A 212 No - it doesn't count as a "weapon" at all - it does untyped damage (and so it is not subject to DR, but equally will be non-lethal against Regeneration/Good).

I think we may have missed one- I didn't see an answer to Q203, if there is a published one on how those spells interact with each other.

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5: 30. Really? 30?
A203: In your specific example, the spell fails. In general, check any specific text regarding the contents or ask your DM if there is no relevant text. The text of sarcophagus of stone contains a caveat which defies physics but leaves the contents of the sarcophagus unchanged. Thus, the characteristics of the spell can't be made to conform (as you can't shrink the sarcophagus to 1/4,000 its original volume) and it fails.

There are a few monstrous humanoids with 0 LA, but they also don't have any RHD: http://community.wizards.com/forum/p...hreads/1078216
The anthropomorphic animals, the Lupin, the Muckdweller, and the Tibbit.
I've also been checking this list: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showt...Racial-Hit-Die
But all of them have at least some LA. Between those two lists, the only thing they don't show is Magical Beasts.Last edited by Deepbluediver; 2015-07-16 at 08:52 AM.

A 215 No.
The range is fixed unless there's an explicit addition. Here's an example of such.Originally Posted by Complete Champion, page 49

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5: 30. Really? 30?
Q216
If you gain the same class feature twice from two different sources, and you'd like to use an ACF, can you trade one and keep the other?
For example, I gain Bardic Knowledge from Bard 1 and trade for Bardic Knack. I later gain Bardic Knowledge as a class feature from the Pathfinder Chronicler PrC. Can I keep that, effectively retaining both Bardic Knack and Bardic Knowledge?
Or does employing an ACF mean 'any time you see X on your sheet, it is Y instead, for all instances of X.'?

As this is a 3.5 thread, I won't comment on a PF class.
However, ACFs work independently from their original class feature and you can have both.
A Rogue 4/ Barbarian 5 would have Improved Uncanny Dodge twice, and upon reaching Barb 5 could replace it the Sandstorm's Bonus Feat, or as a Rogue 4, could replace it for the PHB2's Disruptive Attack and keep the Improved Uncanny Dodge.
He couldn't get the Bonus feat upo reaching Rogue 4, nor Disruptive Attack upon reaching Barbarian 5 though. ACFs can be gotten only on the specific level of the specific class.

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5: 30. Really? 30?
A 217 Possibly.
You can emulate being a of a dragonblooded race, and activating a spell completion device is considered casting the spell it contains. Do note that if you succeed at emulating the race to boost the CL by +1, you will also increase the DC by +1 for the Use a Scroll check. So succeeding at the first Use Magic Device check reduces your chance of succeeding at the second check (activation).

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5: 30. Really? 30?
A 218 No.
A creature called (not summoned) via Gate, which you successfully control, can be commanded to perform a service for you. Such services fall into two categories: immediate tasks and contractual service. Performing a Spell-like ability would be an immediate task. However, each Effreeti has up to 3 wishes available as a SLA only once a day. Unless you are calling a known individual, you have no insight into when its personal day starts nor when it would normally have used up that 1/day capability. Waiting around for the start of a new day to have that SLA refreshed would not be an immediate task, but instead a contractual service for which you must offer some fair trade in return. The DM determines the fairness of all such terms.

No. A range of Touch isn't a fixed range since you touch range can vary based on your size.

Q 220
Has the "fixed range" ever been defined? Even ranges with fixed numbers aren't actually fixed. They have a range of any distance up to that fixed number.

The primary dictionary definition of range means that "any distance up to that fixed number" is a fixed range.range
-noun
1. the extent to which or the limits between which variation is possible: the range of steel prices; a wide range of stylesRange
A spell’s range indicates how far from you it can reach, as defined in the Range entry of the spell description. A spell’s range is the maximum distance from you that the spell’s effect can occur, as well as the maximum distance at which you can designate the spell’s point of origin.

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5: 30. Really? 30?
Q 221
How does a range that has different values for different casters (i.e. touch range, short range etc.) differ from other ranges? In both cases the range is fixed for any one caster. Touch range always goes from 0 ft to the caster's reach, short range is also fixed as soon as you have an actual caster with a caster level. Is there a rule somewhere that says to be considered fixed the range must be the same for all casters, or that it must be expressed as a non-variable numeric value?

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5: 30. Really? 30?
A 221
Fixed for any one caster is meaningless. Ultimately, the range of any particular spell at time of casting is just a number. Any spell where the range is variable (not fixed) is expressed in terms of other values, and not determined until those values are known. "25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels" is not determined until the spellcaster's caster level is known. "Touch" is not determined until the spellcaster's natural reach is known. Any spell will have a determined range after caster-dependent variables are applied. A fixed range is one which is determined without needing information outside the spell itself.

Re: Simple RAW Thread for 3.5: 30. Really? 30?
This is a reasonable assumption and probably the intention of the writers, but is it actually a rule? While the list in the definition of range is not exhaustive, it does include ranges expressed in feet. It does not however declare which ranges in this list are fixed and which aren't.

"Taking 10" is a rule for skill checks.take 10
To reduce the chances of failure on certain skill checks by assuming an average die roll result (10 on a d20 roll). You can't take 10 if distracted or threatened, such as during combat.skill check
A check relating to use of a skill. The basic skill check = 1d20 + skill rank + the relevant ability modifier (or simply 1d20 + skill modifier).

Stormwrack has rules for how different sections of ships are damaged by various effects and how that affects the ship's sea-worthiness.
Q 225
How does the Sudden Stunning WSA from DMG II interact with effects that cause one attack to target several different creatures, such as a Whirwind attack or a Great Flyby attack?

Stormwrack includes a section on DAMAGE, SINKING, AND REPAIR starting on page 31. If you're attacking a ship this information should be applicable. You would need to specify the particulars of your monster's Constrict special attack.
