    • Reactions to the arrival of the travelling carnival amongst the people of Western Aladar are mixed; while the newly settled Clans are happy to show hospitality to fellow wanderers, they care little for oddities that make up the majority of the show and are openly sceptical of the witch’s so-called magic. The humans of Aladar on the other hand, are more open to such entertainment and superstitious enough to find tales of the witch’s power both exciting and frightening.
    • The High Fortifier continues her work of raising a proper army for the lands under the guidance of the Wandering Clans. In the region of Toldec, she organizes a force of local game hunters to act as a skirmishing and scouting force, as well as providing much needed archery support for the heavily infantry-focused army. In Noricum, High Priest Leganium raises a legion from the ranks of his faithful and demands the same arms as were given to the Stormswords. The High Fortifier agrees, though she claims the right to choose the legion’s officers; this new force is to be called the Sons of Wrack. Finally, the Clans arm another force recruited from the humans of Western Aladar (the 2nd Aladarian Legion).
    • On hearing of the Ravager’s march against the Aardrosil, Kuldir Ironsong calls for a conclave with his High Fortifier, the elders of the drimma families, and the human leaders of the lands under their guidance. After a day of talk and argument over what course should be taken, the Master Architect calls for silence and addresses the conclave.

“Our word was given to Ehv'amhyr an Khuuldrumm of Aardrosil that our peoples would stand together in the event that either were threatened by outside forces. It was my hope that a unified front would turn away the aggressions of our neighbours, but it was not to be and now we are called upon to stand to our word. I have listened to your counsel; the fear that we are not prepared for such a battle, the desire for retribution against one who hurt you in years past, the call of religion, the opportunity to expand while our neighbours fight amongst themselves; but ultimately, as Master Architect, the decision is mine and was made the moment word came of the attack. We are drimma, and we will not build our new home upon rotten foundations. We march not for vengeance, nor for the blessings of gods, nor the favour of men. We march because our word was given, and our word is as the bones of the earth - immutable.”

Within the hour, Perli Steelblood and a volunteer legion of drimma combat engineers were on route to the north, to mount a defence of Aardrosil, knowing that they might be the only ones there to meet the invading army. The 1st Aladarian and the Stormswords, along with the remaining drimma engineers under the command of the Master Architect himself, move to strike at the invader’s supply lines and take the ground behind them, in preparation for a proper counter-stroke.

    The Great Clans of Nifhel
    The Harbringer Lochbar

    • Fresh off the heels of victory, the Harbinger of Nifhel has deemed their crusade a just and righteous one blessed by the Fimbulvintr's icy spirit. Pressing their advantage, the Great Clans of Nifhel march onwards to region P7 in the hopes of conquering their heathen population. (1 Unit lead by War [Commander]) [Military]
    • The Horsemen War has seen what the heathens are capable of, having tested several of them in battle personally, and despite their shorter status he finds them no less bloodthirsty then his own raiders. Riding out onto the tundras of Náströnd, he gathers the strongest warriors from every tribe to join his clan. (Raise 1 Military Unit) [Military]
    • Seeing Clan Jötenhel's aggressive swelling of numbers, the Hardrada Clan begins to reinforce their warriors as well. They run rampant through every tribe they encounter, snatching people off and binding them into slavery as they work their way through Náströnd. So Famine decrees, so it shall be. (Raise 1 Military Unit) [Military]
    • Drepsòtt, after long conference with several other Kappi Prestur's, men of science, and the Noaidi of Clan Grimmson has finally devised his ultimate weapon. A tool so insidious it kills without blade or arrow, rather through the sickening corruption of tainted water. Clan Grimmson has spent years devising ways to weaponize the waters that plague Nifhel and finally a breakthrough has come in the form of Fimbulvintr's Wake, a method of infection that utilizes flasks of tainted water, corpses soaked in the liquid, and poisoned blades. (Military 10 Action New Tech [Fimbulvintr's Wake]; Type: Sappers and Traps Effect: +1 Casualty to all members of enemy coalition. Required Resource: Tainted Water) [Military]
    • Continuing their grand crusade to conquer all lands of the North that rightfully belong to the Fimbulvintr, the Habringer Lochbar consolidates his territory and marshals as many warriors from the surrounding lands as possible to invade their eastern neighbors in P4. (4 Military Units lead by Harbringer Lochbar)[Military]

    Spoiler: News and Rumors
    Show

    • Four of the greatest Skalds in Nifhel have gathered together to form a band called the Nifheler's. Their current list of songs number "The Wild Raider", "Grog in the Mug", and "Seven Drunken Knights".
    • Amazed by the foreigners to the east who swept in and conquered them, the Great Horn Tribe of Náströnd begins a long journey to visit Nifhel and learn of their new masters. Half of them die in the process and upon entering Nifhel they are quickly dispersed and subsumed into the Nifelic culture.
    • Debates amongst Kappi Prestur's and Noaidi rage as the discovery of a heathen church spreads throughout Nifhel. One particularly irate Clansmen mockingly asks if this "Pale Lady" is as real as the Fimbulvintr leading to an intense brawl that only ends with the direct intervention of several clans.

    NPC ACTIONS
    Rolls

The Free Men's Alliance dissolves amid petty infighting and the Marauder Isles become unclaimed territory. Without a navy or army the region becomes colonization eligible, claimable, or conquerable.

Evergale Valley is torn asunder by a war within the Aviarchy of Peregin. Spearheaded by a military commander against the Aviarch the war is quick and bloody and depletes the region of its armies. The broken region is left open to conquest, claiming, or colonization by outsiders.

Yahagmar, in its quest to emulate a broken empire dooms itself to ruin. Eyes set so far on the horizon that the world beneath their feet is missed the people of Yahagmar rush from the region to colonize but upon arriving in new lands fail to integrate them back to their homeland. The region is left a shadow of a shadow and the "government" collapses back into ruinous daydreams of what was. The region is left open to conquest, claiming, or colonization.

Dorlam of the Grey Nation becomes yet more seclusive from his people and ambitious aides and representatives of the Grey King slowly gain personal control of the politics of the Sundered Island. The region remains embroiled in these internal politics for the time being opening the region to conquest or claiming.

The Kingdom of the Akti struggles in its capital of Kherson against Litius whose city holds out well against the siege of the Sea King, Kherson's forces being forced to address Shafar incursions from the south during spring and summer months. The kingdom remains deadlocked opening itself to conquest or claiming by an outside force.

    Population: 500

The pilgrims from Avonlea prove themselves incredibly devout even as they retain their stubborn adherence to the Avonlean matriarchal interpretation of Daen. Forced by the Abbots to endure every form of torturous duties carried out in the Church from translating scripts into minor languages, scrubbing the Church Halls, and working in the Church’s kitchen the Avonlean women take these abuses on the chin and persevere. Eventually the Elder Abbot takes an interest in these nuns and begins to preach to them weekly, and then daily, attempting to sway them to the All Father. The sisters seem to have an answer to every theological question posed by the Elder Abbot however and eventually Frerick warms to the constant disagreement, himself never being without a rebuttal to their beliefs in turn. The sisters are taken on by the Elder Abbot as his personal students and attend to him constantly. Some Abbots within the Church mutter about the danger of allowing heretics so close to the pontiff.

Despite, or perhaps because of, the constant theological sparring between the Elder Abbot and his Avonlean nuns Frerick sends more abbots to spread the word of the All Father in the sisters’ homeland, seeking to show the truth of his teachings through how they are spread and accepted. So too are abbots once more dispatched to Hess Tannan, hoping to sway not only the people but the Vincehin to pledge themselves to the Church and the All Father. The war between the pagan Aeldir and the infidel Pale Lady followers is only briefly commented on by the Elder Abbot who speaks of prayer for the lives of innocents among the faithful but makes no indication that the followers of the All Father should involve themselves for either side.

1.) Convert Avonlea to Church of Daen Majority TN: 12 Roll: 12 [Faith]
2.) Convert Tannan to Church of Daen Sole TN: 14 Roll: 10 [Faith]

    Round 3

    Veiled Lady Ayasa
    Diplomacy: 4
    Military: 2
    Curiosity: 3
    Faith: 6

    Population: 300

News of the K'juuda Khalifate's war on Northern Aardrosil in the name of the Pale Lady is hastily denounced by the House. While it carries little weight beyond the northern realms already involved and does little to change the political realities it demonstrates the House's commitment to its own morals. Though not actually a recognized sovereign in service to the Pale Lady K'juuda is excommunicated for his actions.

Political realities threaten the lands of Northern Aardrosil and now the House’s staunch defenders and friends in the north fall under assault by demon riders from the ice cap. While the Veiled Lady recognizes the political realities and necessity of defense of the Northern Aardrosil homelands she reaches out to the Aardrosil sovereign pleading for support in the north. If Aardrosil can protect the House of the Pale Lady from these Nifhel barbarians, stopping them from reaching the House itself, Ayasa promises to crown Ehv'amhyr an Khuuldrumm Lord Paramount of the North in the name of the Pale Lady. The Wandering Clans too are contacted by the House and offered the lands held by K’juuda in the name of the Pale Lady and the offer to be recognized as Defenders of the Faith should they launch an attack on the Khalifate and help relieve Aardrosil of the assault.

Slowly the House has heard rumors of a bastion of Her followers in the far and distant south, unfortunately this news which is met with excitement is met a few months later with the news of an attack on these followers. With such a distance and war on their own doorstep the House is unable to offer these faithful anything more than their prayers.

1.) Convert Brey-An (271) to House of the Pale Lady Majority TN: 12 Roll: 12 [Faith]
2.) Convert Brey-An (234) to House of the Pale Lady Minority TN: 10 Roll: 12 [Faith]

Touting himself as a defender of the House of the Pale Lady and her followers, subjugated by Aardrosil aggression K'Juuda launches a campaign against the Aardrosil capital, intent to conquer it from, in the Khalif's words "A merciless, sinful, thug hiding behind the facade of piety." No one in K'juuda's court dares points out the obvious. Few doubt the real reason for the attack, the capturing of Aardrosil agents found disturbing the Khalif's diplomatic procedures in the east.

In the western province work continues to bring the Horse Lords to heel, seeking their loyalty in exchange for the riches of western lands.

K'juuda issues an edict to aid with the subjugation and integration of regions, all who bend the knee will be granted clemency and joined peaceably into the Khalifate. Promotion will be based on merit and worth, not on origin or birth. For many this is an enticing promise and allowing locals the chance to run themselves should they prove capable should prove popular in regions conquered by the Khalif's Grim Riders.

With the continued success of Ganbaatar's mixed forces, he continues to push its expansion, using its success to encourage more clans to send more riders.
4 [Curiosity] Go On A Funky Journey of Self-Discovery!
As Ganbaatar expands the influence of his clan by dominating lesser clans through a combination of military force and diplomacy, he is faced with a very real issue that plagues him: what right does he have to do so? At first, he had done so because that was what his father had done, and had clearly wanted his son to do (and taught him to do very effectively), but even so it troubled him. This question lead him to the Meel Dhagax Weyn, where the spirits of the sky and land are closer, and where the Dhulciran can hear them both. There he communed with them, hoping for inspiration.

    The Island Nation of Melrakki-ey
    Current Chief- Zin'Aii Refr

    Spoiler: Actions
    Show
    Actions:

[Diplomacy] With the two regions proving to assimilate with each others culture rather well, and especially with help of a so far peaceful union between Ann'Aii "Annie" Refr, and Nim Fryst (Now Nim'Aii Fryst). The Refr tribe continues talks and taking measures to gain region 238 as a Melrakki territory. Pressing claim on region 238 [2/2] (roll)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

[Diplomacy] Zin'Aii sees great potential in uniting all gain-able territories within reach of the main island of Melrakki-ey. Especially with region 241 being "within a stones throw" of Melrakki-ey, as put by his military adviser. As such, Zin'Aii sends a group of diplomats and settlers to the region in order to setup a base camp and chat up the locals to bring them into their culture. Colonization of region 241 (roll)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

[Diplomacy] Just as the ancestors of his tribe did to bring together the Melrakki tribes, Zin'Aii sees himself bringing together the nearby regions as another great accomplishment in his tribe's name. Though, some may view it more as being an expansionist, if they didn't know his views on it. To keep on with this, he also sends colonists and diplomats to region 245 to assimilate it into their culture and bring another region into the Melrakki unity, via the Refr tribe. Colonization of region 245. (roll)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

[Military 5: Military Specialization (Navy - Island/Coastal Region Defense)] With high hopes for the completion of the Magi Natural Harbor Trading Post, Zin'Aii Refr meets with his more militaristic counterparts, of the tribe Zul, to discuss how to best keep the new icon, and their new territories, safe. Grim'Ro Zul, head of the Zul tribe, suggests training the Navy to defend the coast and properly navigate the shallow waters to their advantage against attacking ships. Zin'Aii and the others agree, so Zin'Aii assigns Grom'Ro Zul, Grim'Ro's son, to train the Navy for defense of their coastlines. Coastal Guard (Navy) - Bonus to defending coastal regions/islands (coastlines) from naval attacks. (Increase defense die to 2d12 for navy unit defending coastal/island region from an attack by another navy unit)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

[Diplomacy] Work completes for the major trading hub being built in the bay known as Magi. (The Magi Natural Harbor Trading Post) [5/5] (Region 240)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    Spoiler: News/Rumors
    Show

    News
An unfortunate training accident left the crew of one navy ship stranded on a sandbar for several days before a passing merchant was able to tug their ship free. The crew were ecstatic, very thankful to the merchant ship, until the owner of that ship demanded payment for his kind deed. Admiral Grom'Ro Zul informed the merchant that he can ask for compensation from his father, Grim'Ro, to which the merchant hastily states, "T-there will be no need for compensation.. good sir," before departing. However, he doesn't leave before giving each of the crew a handful of rations.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

The Magi Natural Harbor Trading Post is now open! Stop by and pick up some souvenirs, taste the local food, visit the taverns and inns, and take in the wondrous sights!
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    Rumors
Whispers travel around the island that Zen'Aii Refr, Zin'Aii's son, has been holding secret meetings with the Zul tribe. Though, the rumors are quickly brushed aside as hearsay, with the more skeptical people stating it is nothing more than the collaboration efforts between those tribes, since Grom'Ro Zul has been put in charge of training the navy.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

A small bit of the Melrakki citizens are theorizing conspiracies happening between the heads of the tribes. Refr and Zul working together? That is almost unheard of! A peaceful tribe working with a tribe that is usually considered barbaric, and to top it off, all this expansion.. The theorists think there is more than meets the eye here, but they can't seem to fit the pieces together.

    The Grand Principality of Anceris
    Grand Princess Alessandra de Altan

The expansion of the Kingdom of Melrakk causes some concerns among the Court of the Pearl Throne about a possible future clash over territory, but most consider the southern realm to not be a long term threat and diplomatic endeavours among the lesser realms continue.

1: [Diplomacy] With news of decline in Kherson and the growing threat of the Shafar to the civilised lands to their north, a thorough "examination" of historical documents is undertaken to see if there is any possibility of the region being taken under Ancerin authority and protection. Fabricate a claim on Kherson (250).
2: [Diplomacy] Commodore Jehan continues his work in Region 68, taking care to assure the local military leaders that unification means the Ancerin Navy will be obligated to help defend their land. Continue pressing the claim on Region 68. Roll: 13
3: [Diplomacy] With news of discoveries to the south, Contessa de Acone is once again dispatched to entreat with local rulers. Upon her arrival she immediately showers "gifts" upon local magnates and soon ingratiates herself into their inner circles. Colonise Region 245. Roll: 12
4: [Diplomacy] Lord Ferrador is likewise sent to the south, though his port of arrival is slightly more west. There is a slight hiccup on his arrival as his meetings with the locals are delayed by a bad fit of hiccups. However, he soon recovered and began a rapid tour of the region. Colonise Region 241. Roll: 11
5: [Curiosity] The expansion of the Grand Principality is accompanied by the expansion of economic infrastructure and the streamlining of customs documents to encourage greater trade within the realm. In short, Zlaten and Cerilin are added to the Strada Costiera Tramuntana-Nofsinhar, also know as Anceris's trade route with the really long name.

    Round Five: Begin!
Years 108-109 of the Aenic Calendar

Don’t forget to link to any rolls you make for ANY Attribute checks, plus rolls for rulers you will start using at the start of next round. If you want a new ruler in the next round, you must state so in your action post for this round and link to their rolls. Any increases from actions for this round are counted for the ruler you start your next round with (because it’s handier to account for by the co-GM), which may or may not be your current ruler.

    Good luck!

    Rules Changes!

    Growth!

Hakeber (139) stabilizes under Adrax Awaria!

Secundus (59) stabilizes under the Primus Imeprium!

Silverwood (14) stabilizes under the Summer Court!

Region 7 stabilizes under the Kroznat League!

Region 29 stabilizes under the Kroznat League!

Mabonde Ya Kijani (252) stabilizes under the Shafar Kingdom!

Without adequate supplies and under orders to preserve lives the Primus Imperium is forced to pull out of D2 abandoning the region to the wild!

    Investigate!

[106] Even with the aid of the Spring Court Fantastigoria can find no new information on the missing Maestro. The trail only grows colder as the years pass and there appears to be no new signs of his whereabouts.

[107] Glass-Eyed Manpire (8) (15) With the considerable aid of the Aeldir of Spring, Fantastigorian investigators discover a series of clues left behind by the murderer that direct them to his next target. Despite an awareness that the killer was likely prepared for their arrival, and had been for some time based on the clues, the authorities went ahead with the attempt to trap him.

It was midnight when he struck the appointed house and a pair of investigators were staking out the house inside. It is their report which was served directly to the Maestro. According to the investigators the man slipped in unnoticed by the guards outside and had a knife in each of their backs before they even knew he was there. They only felt a sting and then their legs and arms were gone from their control and they collapsed on the floor. He came around to prop them up and they saw his face, or his mask at least. Styled similar to that of the Maestro, a combination of cheap imitation and dedicated craftsmanship but unique as well. Glass eye pieces covered his own and the Maestro’s hose was replaced with a long beak like that of a bird. Then he began to talk and the transcript of what the two could remember was pieced together and written down.

    Spoiler: ”Transcript”

“I have heard them call me mad. Madness? Ha! A madman kills and makes his victims suffer. I make it quick. Their suffering is not an ingredient.”

“Ingredients you see, that’s all I need them for. The path to immortality is a path lined with reason. The natural, systematic philosophy and understanding of the world. The greatest Fantastigorians, the Immortals, they have sought for ages the secret to immortality. They have achieved only half measures, stop-gaps through children and understudies, relics of masks from one to the next but that is not true immortality.”

“No, but I have found that secret to eternal life. There is so much knowledge in the Old Books. They have guided me, given me the will and the way, if only in part. The secret of life lies within what gives life to Man. Blood. The fluid of life. It can be harnessed and sustained, you see? One’s own blood, it runs dry in time. Ravages of life they say. But it can be replaced. Replaced with the blood of youth, living blood begets living blood. I understand that.”

“More Immortal than any Maestro, the 12th’s disappearance proves it. No, no it was not I who took the Maestro, though I applaud he who did for it proves my theory. The 13th, a slovenly drunkard ill fit to our Maestro’s name. But what if we had never lost the 12th? Or the 3rd? Or the 1st? I am the 1st, you see? The only one to wear this mask, and I shall remain as such. I have no need for a 2nd. I will live for time eternal, truly Immortal.”

“I can share my secrets, with those who deserve them. The greatest of the Duksae, the true Maestro. The secret of immortality rests in my hands. I will grant it as a gift but my life, this beautiful immortality of mine, must be preserved for the secret’s exchange. Seek me by the way of water. Toll the eastern bell of our fair island and I shall answer. But if I am hunted I will not grant this gift. No, instead the Duksaes, the Maestro, they shall become mere ingredients in the aspirations of a better man. An immortal man. Pass this knowledge on and rest easy”

The two both claim to have then blacked out and awoke to their fellows and the killer gone. What is to be done remains in the hands of the Maestro.

[107] Investigation into Dr. Dranzel’s Spectacular Traveling Troupe by Hortis reveals something quite strange. Despite much of the witch's various miracles and spells being found out as hoaxes and deceptions the lead investigator, Arch Druid Nahuel finds himself granted his greatest wish by the mysterious woman. Through some unknown means it seems the woman does possess some mystical properties and this report is filed with the Commerce Council.

[108] Tannan investigators are able to track down the rogue Negotiators that have been terrorizing Hess Tannan and arrest them. Books of Daen are found as well as plans to attempt an assassination of the Vincehin. Though people continue to be fearful the arrest of these rogue Negotiators is seen as the end of the terror in Hess Tannan and the region slowly begins to stabilize once more.

    Colonize!

If you successfully colonize (or conquer) a region, it is your responsibility/privilege to write up the region and post it in the OOC for approval by me. Until it’s approved, the details don’t exist.

The Ambrose Ascendancy successfully colonizes Region 56!

The Kingdom of Nand successfully colonizes Region 51!

The Preeminence of Hortis successfully colonizes Region 278!

    Avonlea successfully colonizes Region 76!

The Aeldir of Autumn successfully colonize Region 23!

The Aeldir of Autumn successfully colonize The Marauder Isles (26)!

The Prevazan Artistry successfully colonizes Region 41!

The Island Nation of Melrakki-ey successfully colonizes Region 241!

The Island Nation of Melrakki-ey successfully colonizes Region 245!

    Claim!

The Cahoosa Confederation begins negotiations and marriages with the local population of Region 272. It doesn’t take long to achieve an advantageous position from which a claim on the region might be pressed with the support of a few more ambitious nobles.

Cahoosa diplomats slowly integrate themselves with the dormant Brey-An, learning their ways and customs and a way for the Confederation to gain control of the warlike people.

The Five Tribes begin the fabrication process of a claim via noble marriage in Region 103. While the noble family married into is not incredibly powerful they are an old house with many long and winding connections to the other nobles in the region, granting a child of this union the veneer of legitimate heritage from the greater houses and earning the native house more prominence should the claim be successful.

The Grand Principality of Anceris 'uncover' historical documents that suggest Anceris and Kherson were once parts of a greater whole. Armed with this 'evidence' and with the prospect of relief to the strife filled region the Principality establishes a claim.

The Prevazan Artistry concludes it’s political machinations in Region 43 and the sovereign loses all but figurehead power over her lands and her military to the Prevaz. Most seem content, having come to agreements with the new suzerains underground to the north but a few upset minor nobles strike out east towards Nanda land. [Claim 2/2]

The Island Nation of Melrakki-ey concludes its plot to integrate the native people of Region 238 into the government of their southern neighbors. With seals of alliances and marriages among the more prominent tribal leaders the nation finds itself turned over to southern control. [Claim 2/2]

Commodore Jehan of Anceris eventually convinces the majority of the nobles in Region 68 of the value of joining under Anceris. While a vocal minority continues to balk at the loss of the region’s independence their sway holds little claim outside their own personal circles of fellow thinking independents and the faction is largely ignored. [Claim 2/2]

Despite the troubles in the land of the Fiid the more militant minded followers of the Doctrine of the Nine Candles find themselves drawn to Rabhid's message of holy conquest. Despite insistence by peace minded Ascetics that the Virtues do not tolerate war and aggression an army of the faith 1,000 strong arrive in Fiid and pledge themselves to crusade, converting Lerr and Rasp fully to the Nine Candles as they march (TN: 14 to resist in both regions)

Ascetics in Hess Tannan copy down the speech of the Vincehin and use it as a platform to echo his sentiments of peace and the natural privacy of the Doctrine's Ninth Virtue. (Doctrine Majority resist TN: 12)

[107] Aeldir of Summer, with the invaluable assistance from the Stormland Holdings mercenaries forces the Geshemefar host to meet them on the fields of the Tillwell. A great battle ensued and despite the fierce defense by the Gesh of their homeland it soon became clear the battle was lost. The Decasage, recognizing this, ordered her troops to retreat, herself being last to leave the field, and rendezvousing with the recently trained Billy Knights in her flight from the region. Alongside King Yrondil, Decasage Rosenbaum is now too a rebel leader with 3 Land Units at her command. Back in the Tillwell the Aeldir of Summer begin to consolidate their control over the former Geshemefar capital though the locals openly express their despair at the loss and the likelihood of their upcoming suffering. [107] The Kingdom of Nand fails to conquer Region 52 due to the staggering military genius of the native leader, King Terit. With a force one third the size of Nand's own the local leader is able to repel and hold firm against the Nanda, preventing them from amassing in a force capable of crushing the smaller native force and forcing the Nand to accept smaller victories in the eastern portion of the region granting a fortified position but keeping the region free from outside influence.

[107] The Ambrose Ascendancy's first military campaign ends in victory and Region 55 is captured for the rising nation despite the best efforts of the region's local self styled King Ferin. The King's forces are defeated in a battle and before more of his men could be destroyed the King retreated with his remaining retainer and wrote to the Protos Archigos offering terms of surrender. Terms from the King were passes to Derris Asker but already the Ascendancy controlled the vast majority of the region so further negotiations would not directly involve the region itself. With only enough food and supplies in recently acquired Northern Aardrosil to support a host of 5,000 K'juuda's more recently recruited riders desert the horde as K'juuda consolidates himself over the quickly becoming volatile natives of Northern Aardrosil.

    Terror!

[108] Northern Aardrosil despite its valiant showing in defense of the Pale Lady still face trouble among the local populaces of their recently conquered lands. With the endorsement of the House there are those who seem willing to accept their new protectors but effort must still be made to see to the needs of the populace and integrate them into the realm. (Region 269 is in moderate unrest)

[108] The Fiid conquerors once more find their recently acquired people discontent with their new lords. Conflicts in the streets between out of uniform soldiers and the locals are commonplace. (Region 37 is in unrest)

[108] The efficiently brutal Winter Court, while easily subduing the local king and his supporters, strike fear into the hearts of the Gesh of Silverlake. The small folk resent and fear their new lords and effort is made to undermine every action taken by the Winter Court of the Aeldir in these lands. (Silverlake (16) is in unrest)

[108] The Great Tribes of the Nifhel while finding those willing to ride as warriors in search of glory from among the people are still woefully inadequate in providing protection, stewardship, or care for the non combatant locals of their recently conquested region. While some of the fighting age men join the Four Horsemen young women and older men begin to train as a fighting force all their own, one not in service to the Fimbulvinter. (Region P6 is in unrest)

[108] High Tirk Rabhid faces assassination at the hands of his wife, narrowly escaping though losing his left hand and suffering a mighty gash across his chest in so doing. The High Tirk’s wife escaped and rallied the bannermen of her father and his allies against the High Tirk in the region, mustering a force of 1,000 men under Tirk Hami, Rabhid’s father-in-law. The Tirk and his army oppose the High Tirk in the region. (Region 40 is in rebellion)

[109] In Hess Tannan the speech by the Vincehin does little to quell the fears of the people or the ambitions of the malcontents. The shaky delivery and deemed necessity of such an action only bolsters the resolve of the small group of rebels. An attack on the Copper Vault is carried out only a few weeks after the Vincehin's address and ten Vaulters are killed. When the Vincehin's investigation team tracks down the rogue negotiators and arrests them plans are discovered for another attack, an assassination on the Vncehin himself. Luckily this will not come to fruition now that the ringleaders of the Daen Conspiracy are in captivity.

Knowing that Lady Kellianth is interested in the Xungla Crystals, the Salvax and the Spring Court Aeldir whom reside on Tir Xungla work together and manage to discover an as yet unheard of ruined city, full of the rare glowing rocks! • <Diplomacy> [y. 109] Full of regret that such thieves had once controlled a lovely place like the Land of the Golden Boars, Lady Spring herself (with the help of a translator) visits the Boar and Eagle tribes to explain what occurred and that the Spring Court would help protect the people of the region from now on. Lady Spring explains the agreement made at the Grand Tournament, between Lady Autumn and the People of Twlight in Luska. Further mentioned, Chesuka of the Raccoon Dog tribe has accepted her guilt in causing trouble to the Land of the Golden Boars; she has relinquished her claim on the region, and has acknowledged Aeldir protection is in the best interest of the nation. (Stabilize Region 12, roll: 14)

Lady Kellianth orders documentors to find the exact day of the year was that she last woke from a Nap.
    • The runes on the Xungla Crystals may have a whole language behind them. Lady Spring herself is spending time investigating them. With the recent discovery of a new ruined city, and the glowing Xungla Crystals there, along with the Crystal Rose trade route being established, new crystals come in daily. Much to Kellianth's glee, a different type of rune is found on some of them. The difference is very minor, but these types of crystals do not seem to glow as often as the others; but when they do, they do so with greater light.

    Spoiler: Observations on Primus
    Show

    Shaban,

Although it calls itself an “Imperium”, Primus, or Badabujamin as I have come to refer to it in my time there, appears to occupy an area no larger than Nand. They claim to have established colonies in the desert beyond but it is questionable how much control they can exert over this territory.

The people are human barbarians. They speak neither Nanda nor Kroznat and their capital city is a hole dug in the side of a mountain. There is little civic order. The people wear armour and carry weapons at all times in case of assault by their fellows. So ingrained is this behaviour that not to wear armour or carry a visible weapon is seen as inviting attack. This appears to be endorsed by the government, although even the royal family are not safe from assault and one was recently wounded. The wearing of heavy armour at all times in such a hot climate lends the people a distinctive and deeply unpleasant aroma.

Their society is rigidly structured along primitive sexual lines. Men are considered inferior and must wear collars and leashes like beasts. They are not allowed to become officers or occupy other civic offices. The people have no understanding of monogamy and apparently no shame. They rut with whomsoever they please, often on first acquaintance and in public.

Much importance is placed on martial ability. For all this they are poor strategists. The most popular game is a perversion of shakmat but one in which the importance of manoeuvre and position has been replaced with random chance. As part of the festivities, a competition was held in this game in which a literal animal was runner-up. This game was created to teach the Badabujana the concept of strategy. They deride the importance of gathering military intelligence and scouting, preferring to trust to the skill of individual soldiers.

It is my opinion that the “Primus Imperium” presents no immediate threat. However they merit monitoring, for they are unpredictable and may attempt some act of foolishness.

    Respectfully,

    Morvarid, Karapan Oushob

    The Betrayal
    Spoiler
    Show
    Gabor Collins

It had been a long ten years of biding his time at the remote Sanctuary of Reflection. The bitterness since his brother-in-law’s betrayal had had ample time to sink into his skin and consume his soul. He should have known better than to marry an Asker. The name had the intonation of a curse in his mind, endless days he had spent plotting in the cold stone sanctum, shielded from harm by the simple-minded Barberis’s reverence for the clergy. He let them think he cowered in silence behind these walls. His jaws worked to grind his teeth together as he thought of his wife’s eldest brother, Watkins, and his last visit. The man had dared presume to speak to him of family and forgiveness, showing off his latest welp as though he were the first man to father a child. And it was a girl at that, his lips curled reflexively, his hand gripping the feather pen hard, making an ugly blotch on the page of the letter he was writing. He angrily crumpled the ruined page and threw it to the ground as hard as he could in frustration, The page drifted silently to the tiled floor far too silently for his liking. He lifted up his wide foot and stomped the page flat for good measure. He forced his hand to relax and began his letter again. His chance had finally come with the Aeldir camped so close by.

    Honored Aeldir,

I humbly request the honor of your audience to discuss a matter of potentially great mutual benefit. I would request your aid in displacing the current Protos Archigos, so that I may retake the laurel crown. Derris Asker is untrustworthy in word and deed, help me and you will have my eternal gratitude, and all the wealth of our realm. You have my sworn word that this will be so.

    The true Protos Archigos,

    Gabor Collins

Gabor’s face held a tight, satisfied smirk on his pale, jowly face as he pressed his seal into the hot wax he had dripped into the page. It had been so long, but the wheels were in motion, and vegeance would be his at last.

    Askerville

The Realm’s Antistrategos, Vale Barberis sat in his office reviewing the proposed battle plans from the Nanda. He had been left in charge as the Protos and the Strategos had left to attend the Grand Tournament in Primus. As third in command of the realm’s offense and security, he had long been tasked with the survellaince of The Sanctuary of Reflection. It had been a long ten years since the former Protos had been usurped by the Asker clan, and Gabor Collins had remained silent. It was widely believed by all that he had given up his promise for revenge, his retreat into the protection of the clergy that had once been for show and convenience, had become sincere over time, and granted him solace.

He now knew that to be untrue, not that he had bought into the man’s sincerity in the first place. Gabor Collins had been an incompetant leader, weak and ineffective. The realm had languished in isolation, the clans divided with petty squabbles and infighting, lacking a true leader. Vale tapped his fingers on the desk in thought, Derris had unified the clans with little violence, and introduced Ambrose to the outside world, their realm was flourishing for it even he could see that. Gabor was a fool, the good thing about fools, was that they did foolish things. Vale smiled to himself at this thought, and began to write one of two letters.

    Derris Asker

His party had just crossed over the border to Ambrose through the Mystiko Valley of the Highback Mountains that seperated their lands from the Primals, when Strategos Galon Barberis raised his fist to halt the party. Derris rode up to see what the matter was, when he spotted a young runner of his court, and a contigent of his soldiers. Puzzled and concerned, he hailed the boy as he approached, and bid him speak.

“A letter my Lord, from Vale Barberis.” The youngster handed over the letter, which indeed held the Barberis seal and bowed to the Protos who nodded to him. It must be a matter of much urgency to warrant his immediate attention after days of riding through the mountains. He read the letter in disbelief along with the letter that had been enclosed in it. So Gabor had shown his treacherous hand at last. A flinty smile spread across his face as he considered the best course. The civilians that had come for the Tournament would have to camp out in the safety of the Valley. He had briefly considered sending them ahead to Askerville, but it was likely Gabor’s party would come upon them on their northern trek from the Sanctuary. They all have to lie would in wait, lest they risk their quarry’s escape. Derris was determined that Gabor would not elude him again.

    Gabor Collins

Gabor had anxiously awaited news from the Aeldir, the days and nights had passed restlessly. He was eager to move forward in his plan now that his redemption had been set in motion, and could think of little else. Locking himself away in his study, hope burned in his chest as he awaited a reply. He would not take visitors and only nibbled at his meals. His children chattered at the door until he screamed at them to be left alone.

A lone bird, unadorned with insignia of allegiance tapped on Gabor’s desk repeatedly, pulling him from his deep thoughts that had turned into a fitful doze. He peered curiously at the creature, starting in surprise as it boldy hopped onto his shoulder. Up close he finally notice the little beast held a letter afixed to it’s leg. He eagerly grabbed for it none too gently, and was rewarded with a sharp prick from the bird’s beak before it flew out through the open window from whence it came. Gabor flinched and sucked the blood that welled from his hand as he opened the letter. It bore no greeting or mark and said simply,

We are to meet the Protos in battle at the Valley into Ambrose. Our troops will be merciless and victorious. Ride north swiftly and you will have all that you are due.”

His hand crumpled the letter as he raised his fist in triumph. The phrase, “All that you are due.” ringing in his head as he rushed from the sanctuary and ordered a horse be readied for his departure. He glanced at the sun, if he left now and rode through the night, he would just make it to the Valley by the light of dawn. His smile was savage as he galloped away, the stablehand gaping after in surprise, he had never seen the man move so quickly.

    Mystiko Valley

It had been two days since they had first emerged from the Valley. Supplies were dwindling and the civilians were growing restless, they knew not when or if Gabor would even show, coward as he was, likely to change his mind at any point in his scheme. Derris stated grimly at the fire, trying to stay his patience, but truthfully he was bored as well and itched for a hot bath and a good meal after their long journey. His eyes glanced to the others, Maldarr was sleeping, curled around his small son protectively. Arsen Rosso prowled the campgrounds restlessly, eager for battle, much as he was wary of the man, he’d be useful if it came to a fight.

The moon was high when a scout galloped into camp, attracting a group of men who, like Derris and Arsen, had been unable to sleep.

“A large man wearing golden robes gallops alone through the night! He rides hard and will reach the Valley by dawn.” Derris’s surprise at the depths of Gabor’s folly was astounding. Had the man lost all sense? His sleeping troops were awoken and he laid out his plans for ambush. As Gabor rode north, Ambrose’s troops would flank him in a south-east circle, surrounding him and cutting off his retreat.

Gabor arrived at the Valley just as the soft light of dusk turned the sky pink and gold. The morning was clear, but his sweat made him chill in the cool air of the mountain foothills. He circled the area a few times, perplexed by the absense of Aeldir forces. Or anyone, for that matter, the air was still and silent, absent of even birdsong as though the land was holding it’s breath. The sharp call of a horn of battle startled him, and he looked towards the source of the call, certain to see his ally’s forces storming the Valley.

Too late he saw the banners of Ambrose and tried to spur his mount to run, but the mare was exhausted and collapsed, her sides heaving and foam frothing from her mouth. Gabor’s leg was caught beneath his mount, likely broken and he screamed in impotent pain and fury, clawing at the grass desperately as the men of Ambrose encircled him. They parted to allow Derris to approach. It had been ten years since he’d last seen his brother-in-law. The years of isolation had not been kind to Gabor. He had grown pale and fat, his balding head shaved clean, his large form covered in an opulent golden robe. He was a pathetic figure, writhing on the ground and screeching incoherently. Several men spat in disgust at the sight of him, and shook their heads at the treatment of his animal. What a waste. Derris ordered him freed from beneath the horse and it took two large soldiers to hold the man up between them. He worked hard to stifle a grin and then thought better of it, should it not be pleasurable to defeat one’s enemies? Especially one that had been his torment for ten years? His cold eyes fell upon Gabor, who had begun to snivel. No there could be no pelasure in defeating this man, he was not worthy of the honor of battle.

“Gabor Collins, you were once tasked with leading and shepherding our people, and you failed. You are guilty of treason, for you have plotted against us, and though you would have seen me dead, you have failed in that too. Now it is you who shall die, as an enemy of the state. We do not tolerate treason, and our enemies must be purged from all lands, our own most of all.”

Strategos Galon Barberis stepped forward with his greatsword, Perdition, and motioned for Gabor to be positioned on his knees, his head resting on a stone. Derris stopped him and put his hand out to recieve the blade.

“It is I whom he plotted against, and it is only fitting that it is I who carry out his judgment.” Many heads nodded in agreement at this, Arsen Rosso grunted in approval, his respect for the Protos growing.

“I take no pleasure in this,” He paused momentarily, wondering if this were true.

“Have the decency to die well, Gabor, your death will be swift and just.” Gabor closed his eyes, barely managing to cease his whimpers and tears rolled down his fat cheeks.

Derris lifted Perdition above his head and prayed to Ekairia that his aim be true. Gabor’s head left his body cleanly and the men silently went to work clearing the area and striking camp. they would arrive home in Askerville tomorrow.

Aleksy Drivas sat in a cushioned chair in his office at The Speedway, a cigarette clamped between his teeth. The strongly perfumed smoke wafting throughout the smallish room as his two youngest grandchildren played together on the floor of hard-packed dirt. His desk was situated so he could clearly see the simurgh track as he counted the day’s take. Stacks of silver coins littered much of the desk. Bets had been up recently, the population was in a good mood, feeling strong in the recent reunification. Put them in a spending mood. Derris was good for business, he had to give him that.

Aleksy’s eyes flashed from his work to the two small boys, Colson was babbling incessantly at Nyle while the slightly younger boy listened quietly and poked at his older cousins ears. The two were very different in temperament, Colson was happy and gregarious and Nyle serious and thoughtful, but they got along very well, often playing together happily for hours. Aleksy had been pleased when Maldarr brought home his queen’s bastard. Aleksy had despaired of the man ever siring a son, that he was illegitimate bothered him little. The boy would be raised as a Drivas alongside the Protos’s own son.

His brow furrowed to think of the Protos’s heir, Baram, away in Sasanand. He had been furious when his Grandson had been shipped away from his own sphere of influence. His mouth clamped tight around the cigarette, making it quiver between his teeth. His eyes narrowed as he contemplated his Grandsons, Colson was second in-line for the Laurel Crown, Aleksy’s influence over him would be much greater than it would ever be over Baram, thanks to Nyle. He pulled in a long breath of the tobacco and blew it out slowly, contemplating heirs and successions as the two young boys continued their innocent play under their Grandfather’s speculative gaze.

    News and Rumors
    • The population soon hears of Gabor Collins's execution as a traitor to the Laurel Crown. Most applaud Derris's actions, though his sister and Gabor's widow seals herself inside the Sanctuary of Reflection and refuses to leave her rooms, even for her daughter.
    • Archessa Alessa Asker is betrothed to Arsen Rosso, affirming his clan's top tier status and clinching his loyalty to the Askers.
    • With the death of the Collins's Polemarchos without a male heir, infighting and posturing begins to see who will ultimately claim the title.
    • The Protos is conflicted on what to do with his unwed niece and Gabor's daughter Talisha Collins, and finally it is decided that she shall represent Ambrose as an envoy to the Aeldir's Winter Court.
    • The Protos's brother, Watkins Asker has been assigned to the Jade Coalition as official Ambassador.
    • After speaking with the deposed "King" Ferin of the newly incorporated Çangalamin, Derris discovers that the man hails from the long lost Ferin clan, and accepts his plea to retain his power in the region. Derris consents to make the man Polemarchos of the Ferin Clan, granting him an official crest before he is sent to prove himself in battle in the aid of the Nanda.

This time, however, they open participation to all nations and peoples, in particular inviting the Jade Coalition, the Kingdom of Berrium and the Ambrose Ascendancy. Igor isn't the brightest candle in the chandelier, but considering that the Ambrose Ascendancy had no prince for her to nab seduce meet, Breydice considers him a worthy enough prize for her bedchambers.

Now if only she could get him to string two words together...

-Lady Aske was meant to seize the desert and make it her own. However, her failure was not of her own doing, so numerous parties are contacted to assist in another attempt. While Lady Aske will personally lead the group and will have her noble house placed in charge of the region should she succeed, she's able to convince the other houses to assist her by offering something special in the future: the desert, she claims, is perfect for training warriors. If they can sieze it, the Silvanus Desert will become famous for its hardy, powerful warriors.

-House Eventus attempts to make contact with the leaders of this Jade Coalition. Perhaps the Imperium has found another ally? Or perhaps their first real vassal?

If not, they can simply take the land by force. Swine are of little interest, but the Imperium's armies have been itching for a good scrap...

Roethye's eyes were aflame. "You. Negotiated. For what?!"

"Trading rights, mother." Breydice said calmly. "The Ambrose Ascendancy now has the right to connect their lands to Trade Route Primaris."

The Princess glanced at the barrel next to her. "This brandy, I am told, is some of the best there is. I don't drink the stuff personally, but my men tell me that this alone is worth trading for."

"Oh wow, some brandy for all the resources our country has available to trade." Roethye said dryly. "That's a fair trade."

"I am not an idiot, mother. I secured Simurghs - a species of flying wolf - for Primus proper and faster travel."

Roethye scowled. "Moonsilver alone should be worth-"

Breydice held up a finger as she handed her mother a tankard of brandy. "And, they have camels for our next trip into the Silvanus desert. Lady Aske did say that water was a concern, and having mounts that can store water will surely help with exploration and seizing the land in question."

Breydice didn't mention that the camels and simurghs could likely be used on the trade route itself to expand it as well, nor that the Ascendancy met some of its needs with this route. The Ascendancy wanted this route as much as Primus did, and Berrium could perhaps gain from this as well.

Roethye growled as she took the cup. "That's all well and good. But I'm not convinced. This 'Ambrose Ascendancy' is ruled without the heart of a warrior, and worse, is ruled by a man." She took a sip of the drink. "Why should I-"

    She stopped.

Breydice raised an eyebrow. Roethye looked down at the cup.

"... They offered to let us trade for this?"

    "Yes."

She pulled the wine closer to her eyes. "Give them whatever they want, JUST MAKE SURE WE GET THIS STUFF."

    Breydice smirked. "Yes, mother."

    Dhuda Besina's Round 5 actions

    Current Council of Uca Jajaka:
    • Pralkemiri (68 yrs in power) (eldest)
    • Vinariun (34 yrs in power)
    • Oshenvar (9 yrs in power)

    1. [F] [F10: found a religion]: As the correspondence with the outer world has grown, so too has the Dhuda Loka's knowledge of the world. The abundance of life is so rich and inspiring, so why do others direct their gaze upward, ignoring the world which so carefully spun the chords of life for all? The earth, not the sky, is to be praised for such wonders. The world shall see that life is the creation of earth, and not the domain of the sky. The Mahana de Rukha is the greatest example of life's wonders, and the Dhuda Loka are truly blessed by its presence in their region. The Uca Jajaka have seen a glorious vision of life triumphing over nothingness, earth defeating air, and the world shall see it too. Those who see this truth are the Children of Earth (Religion Name!), and follow these primary adherents:

      - There is no sole being taking the place of creator, but rather the earth itself generated the chords of life from which every living thing is derived. Because of this, the earth is revered above all.

      - The Mahana de Rukha is the living manifestation of the earth, and the Uca Jajaka have the most sacred duty of interpreting its wishes. Because this tree is sacred, every Gulabi Pata is viewed as an echo of it and are sacred as well. Desecrating one is tantamount to desecrating one's very soul.

-The church of Daen openly refuses to accept that the earth is the progenitor of all life, and instead enforces that the sky is responsible. This makes absolutely no sense, as there is no life exclusively in the sky. It becomes apparent that Daen is a delusion that has been used to breed sexism and political gain, and must not be allowed to corrupt the rest of the world.

-All life is viewed as sacred, but it is a fact that life must be consumed for other life to survive. For this reason, there is not a full ban on harming other beings. However, it is highly wrong for life to be needlessly wasted. For example, hunting for sport or clearing forests for new development is frowned upon.

-One of the core aspects of the religion is the idea of respect. All living things are just that: living things. The hunter must respect his prey's elusiveness, while the prey respects the hunter's persistence. Opposing generals should respect each others' prowess in battle (although war in general is viewed as a gross waste of life). And even kings and queens must respect their subordinates for doing their given work, as the subordinates respect the leaders' ability to lead the realm. Overall, mutual respect is highly important.

-More as I think of them!

    2. [D] With greater knowledge of diplomatic concepts, the Dhuda Loka once again attempt to open up communications with the people of region 18, known to the people as Bereholst, once again suggesting the joining of our great powers. {Diplomatic colonization of region 18, Roll: 17 Success}
    3. [D] After meeting the hardy people of region 133, known to the people as Tumbledown Marsh, the previous year, the Dhuda Loka offer their people the opportunity to join with the growing Union of Besina (new nation overall name as well!) alongside Bereholst. {Diplomatic colonization of region 133, Roll: 14 Success}
    4. [D] Continuing speech lessons with the border town is rather tricky, as the populace is incredibly wary of anything even remotely Aeldir. Nonetheless, the Dhuda Loka are able to convince the Geshem to finalize learning the language. This time around, the Dhuda Loka have learned how to fully speak common, with the only thing remaining unknown being how to read and write. {Great Project, 4/5}
    5. [D] Wishing to have more discussion with the Aeldir of the seasonal courts, Oshenvar travels to the Grand Tournament on a merchant ship. The Dhuda Loka have no intention of participating in the tournament (why would anyone be willing to harm another?).
