How about we just don't use ITC?

    Or just play smaller games?

    Or both?

I like Miracle on 39th Thread a lot. I'm also in favour of playing smaller games as standard, and generally not treating tournaments as the One True Method for playing games, to which everything else is subsidiary.

Thread 39: I Waited 25 Years For Plastic Sisters But All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt Canoness.

I also agree that smaller games would be better in competitive environments.

2000pts being the standard is a hangover from previous editions, when 1850-2000 was the norm but Tyranids and Orks were in the oubliette and "lots of daemons" typically meant taking Fateweaver and a couple of Daemon Princes all at once. It hasn't changed to efficiently reflect the needs of 8th edition, and it certainly shouldn't be sacrosanct.

I like Miracle on 39th Thread.

Dropping down to 1500 or 1850 isn't to make the game more balanced, it's to speed things up. Which I think it would do. Balance wise I think it ends up where you can't have an answer to everything, and thus generalist units become a bit more valuable. I'm not sure that's a bad thing.

C-Hunter Exarchs were 1 point away from non-Exarchs. While the Exarch Powers weren't amazing, its not much of a gamebreaking nerf. Completely unwarranted of course, which if you would shut up about 'OP Craftworlds' for 10 seconds and actually read what the same amount of points gets you in other factions it would be obvious, but then if Marines are getting point drops... well, GW being GW is nothing new. Lets just wait to read how the poor CA writers only have 4 hours a week to write their 40$ book of Errata and how the design team was hard set on that plastic planes are modeled to be 15 points more expensive.

We've had mild success with 1500 pts. tournaments, 75 min. per side. Playing slow is bad and you should totally feel bad for being slow, there is nothing 'casual' about punishing expediency or coddling analysis paralisis. Those are just bad players at best and slowplaying cheaters at worse. Of course, if your army is such that you are doing your best and it still takes forever it'll show; if your opponent isnt an ass he might actually help you out with the mechanic part of things (picking up and moving the models) in the interest of getting more turns to crush you with. And if you're new, then you're probably bad and THATS OK. But if you dont accept that you are CURRENTLY BAD, you'll never see a need to improve, and thus will continue to be bad wrapping yourself in the blanket of 'I just want casual games UwU'. Then again it takes a community that actually talks to each other outside of matches and that can take a 'you suck dude' in stride without getting angry or hurt.
