Hey, welcome to chill place where we have random banter, here are the rules:

1. Spam. For RB, one-word posts are generally considered spam. Likewise, posts that are nothing but *actions like this* are also be considered spam. Remember that the quality of the post's content is much better than the speed of your response.

2. This isn't the Play by Post or Town forum, nor is it the Silly Message Board Games or Structured Games forum. Please avoid continuous roleplay or mock battles and fights such as the "competition for control of the universe".

3. If it's already a thread, don't bring it to RB. RB has such a huge range of subject matter even restricted to the little snippets that probably don't warrant their thread, it doesn't need legitimate thread topics cluttering it up as well. The exception to this is to bring something off-topic from one thread, but on-topic for RB and the subject doesn't warrant a thread of its own.

4. Don't advertise other threads in RB. Just because these new threads move at speeds more appropriate to a message board than an IM session doesn't mean you need to come over to RB and browbeat people into posting in your latest brainchild.

5. Please don't post single-line posts alerting us to your current status -- as in "I'm back." This is Random Banter, not "How to stalk Random GitP forum members."

6. Don't poke, kick or bump the thread. It will move at whatever pace it wants to. Also, please refrain from Captain Obvious comments akin to "My, the thread is fast today."

7. Random Banter can only be as good, or as entertaining, as you make it. Demands to be entertained will fall on deaf ears unless you can add something more meaningful to the conversation.

8. As this is a public forum, where the current topic is nicely recorded for you, and not a conversation where you could have missed the beginning, please refrain from asking something to the effect of "What's the topic?". Please take the time to read up a bit first.

9. Thread Creator must include the words "Random" and "Banter" as well as the thread #. Try to be concise as well.

10. Every post should contain two visible, legible complete sentences, Subject and Predicate. C'mon, make your old English teachers proud.

11. Remember, Random Banter is not your IM client. If you want to have a back and forth discussion with just one person, look in their contact information for IM details.

12. Whenever a new thread is created, all "first post", "first-page", and all posts of that nature will be deleted by the administrators. Please avoid doing this, as it is frustrating for them to deal with one-lined posts like this.

13. Double-posting is not your friend. We have edit buttons for a reason.

14. Once you have made a Random Banter thread, you must wait for 20 threads before making another one.

15. If you can avoid dibs calling on making the next thread, that will avoid people needing to wait if the thread hits 50 pages while the dibs-caller is asleep.

I'm can't wait for our traditional Easter egg hunt (Which we've had even when the youngest participant was in their 30s, we might be a slightly childish family ). My niece should be old enough to understand the basic concept of looking for eggs and I've bought some strange plastic eggs that are supposed give birth (do eggs give birth? You know what I mean...) to unicorns when put into water and then the unicorns keep growing for a couple of days. I must admit I'm a little excited to see how they work.

I had the weirdest dream last night.

Like, this woman was stalking me and acting like I was her lost child despite myself still being an adult in the dream.

And I think I was back in college, becuase the guy who drove me to college was driving me somewhere, but this woman wouldn't let up, she was driving erratically around us and rear-ended us once and my guy was just a professional about it and kept going up until the woman was literally on the back of the car trying to break through the rear window. Then he started speeding to shake her off.

But she somehow pulled the window out and was trying to draw me out of the vehicle and I think at one point she had a gun.

Yeah.

Stores habitually overstock on seasonal sweets during the specific season in order to keep up with the demand while selling them at higher markup, then sell what's left at a lower markup to get rid of it to make room for the next seasonable candy.

Like if you ever want a whole bunch of cheap candy head to a Walmart at six in the morning on November 1st.

I suppose there's a risk that the price will go up if everybody starts buying it, but I'm trying to do a favour here. I don't buy chocolate that often, but the only other chocolates I buy are the big tubs at Xmas (which are not quite as cheap, but have fillings).

I'm still pissed off that creme eggs now lie about the kind of chocolate they use.

If it says Cadbury's people expect dairy milk! Not using it is misleading people.

...I should get some chocolate in. Probably some dairy milk, maybe some darkmilk if I can find a big bar. Maybe if I really get a craving I'll pick up something dense as well, maybe they do family sized Yorkies.

I hope so. Last year I noticed that most of the stores that had previously had a surplus after Easter didn't. Shelves were mostly bare the day before, and only one place had any post holiday discount candy (and it was the boring stuff). According to one person I asked, they are less willing to risk being stuck with a glut, and are ordering less up front.

I thought it was the Olympics but it is still not right to excluded transgender women athletes. My anger still stands.

It's not even a complete ban on trans people, just those who transitioned after a certian point in their physical development... What would you suggest as an approach?

It just feels like hard plastic. I haven't tried them yet, but according to the instructions you're just supposed to put them in water and after a while (like two days, I think? Or maybe shorter?) they hatch and then the unicorn should stay in the water for a few days until it's fully grown (personally, I wouldn't think unicorns can breathe under water, but hopefully my niece is more open-minded about such things). No idea about the biochemistry, I'm afraid.

So this year mom ordered what was implied to be a catered dinner that was offered as a holiday deal by a certain resteaunt chain famous for their country-style menu and attached knick-knack shops.

It was only after several days after making the arrangement and paying that they sent her a message with instructions that indicate that the 'catered meal" is more like a grocery pickup. She's still gotta cook everything herself(and no, this isn't a 'you have to heat it up' thing, cook times are listed in hours for some of the dishes.)

I think the people who run that business are unfamiliar with why people try to get catered meals for their holiday celebrations.

Fair, and yeah, i don't judge others for going (though i do heavily encourage other options if available). Me im lucky. I can afford to go to Publix instead for groceries. And also i feel bad because i still use amazon, even though Bezos also has enough money and i dont want to givr him more. Fortunately for that side of things, i am continuously growing more and more minimalist and dont want all this dtuff that's just going to be eventual trash if i can help it.

That's horrible and Cracker Barrel absolutely did y'all wrong.

But why not name and shame? I can understand for people who actually work at places that actively search and want tl protect themselves (unless they still out themselves anyway like saying "the bullseye place with red shirt and khaki pants people"), but its just a general gripe? Name and shame!

Winn-Dixie will always have a place in my heart. They mostly pulled out of Birmingham years and years back, which saddened me.

People do that in the US? I mean over here there's only like one holiday we traditionally celebrate with a meal anymore, so maybe we just suck it up because we don't know better.

(Then again most traditional British festivals have kind of just died off. I've literally never seen Mayday festivities in person.)
