I know what to get Ego for Christmas! A guard duck!

Lights are pretty, though. When we were younger, my parents took me and my siblings out for drives on Christmas Eve, right after church, to look at all the pretty lights. Of course, this was in the early 90s, before the coming of the tacky Disney decorations.

Also, Ontario-Quebec-Maritimes are due to get completely buried tonight. It was nice knowing you people, but if I don't dig myself out tomorrow morning, I'm done for. *salutes*

Ya'll would want to stab your self in my neighborhood. I've seen an inflatable grinch, 4 snow globes, Nativity scene, inflatable Santas and that's just off hand. And sadly except for the grinch and snow globe.....it's one family.

The other families are relatively new

Thankfully people around here haven't put up any giant plastic snow globes. Although......for every 50 houses that have good Christmas lights, there's about one that decides "brighter than the sun" is tasteful.

There was one place near where we used to live in the mid-late 90s, that the entire freaking SUBDIVISION completely filled their yards with the most garish decorations and lights possible, going more and more Disney every year.

Needless to say, we stopped going there.

I know someone who lived in Tucson, AZ, and apparently there was one neighborhood where you had to SIGN A CONTRACT that you'd decorate your yard for Christmas, and then when everyone had their lights up, you had to PAY FIVE DOLLARS to drive down that street.
    How insane.

On a related note, my uncle Neil decided to decorate his house a couple years ago, and because he's a total geek (but a freakin' awesome geek, not to mention a genius) he programmed the lights to flash to a soundtrack. They sent us a video, and it was amazing. I think it was half an hour of choreography

My family, we're grinches. We don't decorate for Christmas. (But if you gotta do it, Uncle Neil's way is definitely the best)

We usually just put wreaths on our door, and leave it at that.

I like minimal icicles or border white Christmas lights the best, though if done right multicolor lights outlining trees and deer can be very nice as well.

Agreed with the giant snow globes. There's a town near us that'll always put up huge inflatable nutcracker soldiers each December...

I don't remember what the soundtrack was...it was some time ago and I don't think I was familiar with it - but whatever it was, it was cool.

I started to edit the posts (since I can do that, just not delete) and sign with my name. It's fun to see conversations by one poster until you realise one is a mod.

V: No, others made double posts, I edited them to say something instead of posting myself (using moderating colour and signing it), then got a response of said poster. Simply said, three posts of a poster, still a conversation. We've got longer ones too.
